This post, short, sweet and to the point, is by fellow-blogger Jack the Lad, and I share it on behalf of my beautiful neighbor, Maha al Dabbagh, who quit wearing her hijab soon after coming to the U.S. because of the narrow minds of people who mocked and frightened her. Thank you, Jack, for this beautiful post. I hope my readers will take a minute to read it.

When Noble Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman from Yemen was asked about her hijab by journalists and how it is not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, she replied:
“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilisation that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times.
Peace does not mean just to stop wars, but also to stop oppression and injustice. – Tawakkol Karman
