What Say You, Mr. Kareem Abdul Jabbar?

kareem-2This morning, rather than write a post, I wish to direct you to an OpEd post written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for The Washington Post.  I am not a sports person, and when I hear the name Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the only connection my mind makes is “tall person”.  However, on reading his bio on Wikipedia, I see that he has an impressive record in basketball, beginning with 71 consecutive wins for his high school team.  Even Filosofa, the un-sportsperson, is impressed.  But more to the point for the purposes of this discussion, Abdul-Jabbar has also been a regular contributor to discussions about issues of race and religion, among other topics, and it is this which put him on my radar tonight.  I considered using his OpEd as a springboard, but after reading it twice, I decided to simply let his words speak for themselves.  He is well-spoken and makes his points far more eloquently than I could. So, without further ado, I ask you to please read his commentary on The Washington Post Opinion page.
