Remember how, throughout the presidential campaign, Trump kept “promising” that he was going to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server and that he, Donald J. Trump, would personally see to it that she went to prison? Remember the t-shirts with Hillary in prison stripes? Remember the chants, incited by none other than da trumpeter himself, chants of “Lock Her Up!”? Oh yes, Hillary was a big, bad criminal and he, da Donald, was going to save the world from her. Well guess what, folks? Turns out, some 59 days before Trump’s inauguration, he has backed down and this morning he announced that he will not be pursuing any legal action for any alleged wrongdoing by his former opponent, Hillary Clinton. When you stop laughing and catch your breath, read on …
“I don’t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don’t. She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways, and I am not looking to hurt them at all. The campaign was vicious.”
The campaign was vicious. That has to qualify as the understatement of the century, ranking right up there with “Hitler didn’t much care for Jews.” But WHO, I ask, made it ‘vicious’???
We all … those of us who are thinkers rather than lemmings … knew that it was an empty threat to begin with. A year-long investigation turned up no criminal wrong-doing on the part of Ms. Clinton, merely a lack of good judgement. The bottom line was that if she had been using her official State Department server, it would likely have been hacked by the Russians also, and out of tens of thousands of emails on Ms. Clinton’s private server, only a handful contained information that was classified at the time. FBI Director James Comey said the Justice Department shouldn’t prosecute Clinton because there isn’t enough evidence that she intentionally mishandled classified information. FBI investigators didn’t find vast quantities of exposed classified material, and they also did not turn up evidence that Clinton intended to be disloyal to the United States or that she intended to obstruct justice. In addition, legal experts agree that any attempt by Trump to influence whether an investigation would be pursued threatens the integrity of the justice system. The cost to taxpayers of that investigation? Hard to say, but most estimates put it in the neighborhood of $7 million. Yes, folks, that is Seven. Million. Dollars. $7,000,000!!! She made a mistake, but did not commit a crime, it took $7 million to figure that out, and Trump knew all or most of this at the time he was inciting his lemmings to riot … to chant “Lock Her Up” over and over and over again.
And now he has to back down. That must hurt, right? He tried to spin it to sound like he was being a sincerely compassionate guy, but we all know better. Kellyanne Conway (would somebody please make her go away before I have to give her Bimbo status???) remarked, “… if Donald Trump can help her heal, then perhaps that’s a good thing to do.” No, sweetheart, there is no criminal wrongdoing, and your boss damn well knows that there is no case! Wake up and smell the coffee … stop drinking that over-sweetened Orange Kool Aide!
But now for the fun part! All those poor little lemmings who blindly followed da trumpeter wherever he led them, who had their hopes pinned on the prosecution, the downfall of “crooked Hillary”, are left to wonder, “Wha … wha … what happened??? He promised us … he said … “ And they scratch their collective lemming-heads and … some don’t know what to think, but some are angry! Conway, again, tries to explain his position to the lemmings with, “Look, I think he’s thinking of many different things as he prepares to become the president of the United States, and things that sound like the campaign are not among them.” Good save, Kellyanne! And Rudy Giuliani chimed in with an equally double-speak defense, “Look, there’s a tradition in American politics that after you win an election, you sort of put things behind you. And if that’s the decision he reached, that’s perfectly consistent with sort of a historical pattern of things come up, you say a lot of things, even some bad things might happen, and then you can sort of put it behind you in order to unite the nation. So if he made that decision, I would be supportive of it. I’d also be supportive of continuing the investigation.” HUH???
I am laughing, you are probably laughing … we all saw this one coming, but some are not laughing! Breitbart, Trump’s biggest media ally, outside of Sean Hannity, ran with the following headline: “Broken Promise: Trump ‘Doesn’t Wish To Pursue’ Clinton Email Charges.” And last July’s Idiot of the Week, Ann Coulter of course had to put her ha’penny worth in: “Whoa! I thought we elected @realDonaldTrump president. Did we make him the FBI, & DOJ? His job is to pick those guys, not do their jobs.” Go back to your Barbie dolls, Ditzy. Meanwhile, the conservative legal organization Judicial Watch, that has doggedly pursued Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, also chimed in: “Donald Trump must commit his administration to a serious, independent investigation of the very serious Clinton national security, email, and pay-to-play scandals. If Mr. Trump’s appointees continue the Obama administration’s politicized spiking of a criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton, it would be a betrayal of his promise to the American people to “drain the swamp” of out-of-control corruption in Washington.” Comments from lemmings via Twitter indicate that they are not happy little lemmings and no doubt we have not heard the end of this from them.
But here is what I do not understand. Trump won the election. For whatever reasons, most of which are obscure and b.s. in my book, he won the election. So why the Sam Heck are his supporters and even his own media outlets still calling for Clinton’s blood? Is it not enough to emerge victorious? Must they still kill the lion? I suppose they must all be wondering which of his many glorious campaign promises will be next to go into the jaws of the shredder. Again (still) I am laughing. There has been very little to laugh about since November 8th, but watching the dawning, seeing the tiny little light bulbs come on as his lemmings begin to realize that they placed their hopes and dreams on such a conglomeration of smoke and mirrors, is funny … in a sadistic sort of way. But hey … we tried to tell them, and they were too busy putting us down to listen, so …
