TODAY IS MONDAY!!!!
Hey wait … stop throwing squishy tomatoes … STOP, I say! I was just trying to switch it up a little bit, add a bit of drama to the otherwise-mundane! Sheesh … you guys are a bit testy today!
Okay, so anyway … let me just wipe the tomato pulp off my face here … clean my glasses … now where was I? Oh yes … today is … well, you-know-what-day. And thus, in keeping with my long-ago promise, I shall try my best to bring to your day some humour, good cheer, and a SMILE. So grab your coffee, loosen those tense facial muscles, and read on … JOE … put that tomato down!!!

In addition to being Monday, today is also two other things: National Handwriting Day (don’t even ask … I do not do handwriting), and National Pie Day. I do pie … but very little, as it is not healthy for me. However, I make a mean Apple-Caramel Pie that my daughter’s co-workers request every so often.

I hope none of my readers will be offended by this, but anybody who pays more than $1 million for a wristwatch needs to have his or her head examined! That said … anybody who pays more than $1 million for a watch made of Swiss cheese … well, words fail me …

H. Moser & Cie is a Swiss watchmaker, well-known and highly respected. Typically, the price of their watches range from about $4,000 to $45,000 (still too much for my tastes). But this year they came out with the “Swiss Mad Watch”, made entirely in Switzerland using “the most precious Swiss material,” Swiss cheese. The watch features a case made of hardened Vacherin Mont d’Or medaille d’or cheese, a strap made of cowhide, and a red dial reminiscent of the Swiss flag, according to Forbes.
The price, a not-so-economical 1,081,291 Swiss francs or $1,077,734 U.S. Dollars, is also symbolic of the day the Swiss Federal Charter was signed on Aug. 1, 1291.
My first thought is wearing this watch would be a good way to keep people at a distance, because Swiss cheese, though I like it, has a definite … aroma (it stinks). However, H. Moser & Cie. CEO Edouard Meylan assures shoppers that the cheese in the watch base is pasteurized and therefore does not stink.
The company created a video to explain and advertise their new watch. Admittedly, there is some little bit of political satire in the video, but it is funny and I think you will enjoy it nonetheless.
Thought you were having troubles? Think about poor ol’ George Karpekin of Sacramento, California. He was leaving Sacramento City College last Wednesday, he came out to find this:

Yup, that is … was … George’s truck. “I walked up to my truck and I saw it was ‘taco’d’ around a tree,” said George. Well, that’s tough, but luckily, he was able to get a ride back home where he knew he had another vehicle. Or maybe not … when he arrived home, he discovered that yet another tree had fallen and crushed his car in front of his house! Must have been some windstorm!
I don’t know George, but I must say I like this guy’s attitude. He didn’t kick anything, didn’t curse anyone … just said, “My luck. I bought a lottery ticket. It didn’t win, but … I feel like I’m the luckiest guy. Why? I came out alive. Everything is fine. My insurance is covering it. There’s no other way to look at it, right?”
The headline read: Man Dressed As Beer Bottle Wanted For Alleged Pizza Theft

Doesn’t look like he needs any pizza, does he?
Apparently he went into the staff area of a Papa John’s Pizzaria in Barry, UK, and helped himself to two pizzas that were waiting to be delivered, then walked out, pizzas in tow. Can we say chutzpah? Police posted the above picture of the man and requested anybody recognizing him to contact them. My thoughts? If he could afford a beer-bottle costume, then he could afford to pay for the pizzas!

That is just about as much funny as I can muster today, but I will see if Garfield or somebody has a bit of additional humour for you. I leave you with a thought, perhaps not humorous, but sincere:
Last week was a really tough week for many of us. I found myself with tears in my eyes multiple times a day, and cried myself to sleep a few nights. My family and I went out to dinner on Saturday night, and our waitress was the most wonderfully upbeat woman … she sported a purple ponytail, and she smiled, laughed, shared a joke or two, provided excellent service, and made me genuinely feel good about the human race, if only for a few minutes. All of which proves what I say to you, dear readers, every Monday when I tell you that sharing a smile can literally change somebody’s mood, make them feel a little bit better. So think about that as you go about your day today … the person you share a smile with today might be going through something that you cannot even imagine, or could be depressed and considering suicide … you just don’t know. So smile today … even if it hurts, even if you must swallow your own tears and pain to do it … just share those smiles. Please? Take care, have a good day, and remember that Filosofa sends smiles, hugs and love to you all!

Happy Monday! I start each day by reading the comics — and trying to avoid the news. I hope to keep my sanity longer that way! Thanks for the chuckles.😜

Good idea! Perhaps I should try that … I usually start my day reading news stories on my Kindle before I even get out of bed. Not a healthy thing! 🙂
