The tensions arising should be giving the professionals pause for thought. The polarisation is not good for any nation.

No, it is not a healthy environment, but I see the gap growing wider every day, and don’t see an end in sight. Sigh.

Then we must repair to the arenas of The Courts and The Mid-Terms and see what comes to pass

I have a feeling the US, being the US, this will pass, and become dust. It’s the passage in between which is the hard load to carry.

Indeed so! And I’m not getting any younger here … I had hoped to see a return to sanity in my lifetime, but am pretty sure that isn’t likely! 🙂

There was the splendidly English Prime Minster, Harold MacMillan when asked what was likely to blow a government of course replied “Events, dear boy, events”.
If the current administration cannot bring an air of stability to the political scene its future is to be short. It is also essential for a US president to be seen to rise above and be slightly detached from the debate, it’s called being presidential, this brings a veneer of respect and if the president is particularly astute.. gravitas. This careful balancing act indicates the president is deep in thought over the problems.
I don’t see it hereabouts

No, I don’t see it hereabouts, nor do I think Trump is capable of it. I do, by the way, remember MacMillan, though I never knew much about him. Trump’s presidency will be known depicted in the history books as a circus, I expect. If, that is, we get him out before he is becomes infamous as a Hitler-esque dictator.
