Alright, since Trump so loves to use those words, “You’re Fired”, then it’s time he used them to Mr. Scott Pruitt, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  NOW!!!  This man is out of control, treating our tax money as his personal expense account and meanwhile doing nothing … absolutely nothing … positive toward the protection of the environment!  I thought I was done writing about him a few weeks ago, thought surely he would be fired within the week, but that has not happened, so I am baaaaaccckkk.

Despite all the scandals that just keep coming, yesterday afternoon Trump praised him!

“… EPA is doing really, really well, someone has to say that about you a little bit, you know that, Scott. People are really impressed with the job that’s being done at the EPA.”

Hello???  Excuse me???  What job?  What EPA, for that matter?  Just two days ago, it was reported that Pruitt had enlisted an EPA aide to help his wife Marlyn obtain and open a Chick-Fil-A franchise.  How does this pertain to the business of the Environmental Protection of the United States?  How does it pertain to anything other than increasing Scott and Marlyn’s wealth, which is already substantial, at least as compared to yours or mine.

When asked about the misuse of agency staff for a personal mission, Pruitt sounded just like Kellyanne, talking in circles all around the issue …

“I think with great change comes, you know, I think, opposition. I mean there’s significant change that’s happening for us, not only at the EPA but across this Administration, and it’s needed, and, uh, look, my wife is an entrepreneur herself. I love, she loves, we love Chick-Fil-A as a, as a franchise of faith, and it’s one of the best in the country, and so, that’s something we were very excited about.”

SOOOO????  I love P.F. Chang’s, too, but I’m not going to lie, cheat and steal to own one!  I will just go eat there once a month or so, and pay my check and leave a tip like everybody else.

But it gets even better … and remember, all this is just in the last week.  Prior to last week, he already had twelve federal investigations into his activities!  TWELVE!!!In December, Pruitt attended a University of Kentucky basketball game as a guest of coal baron Joseph W. Craft III, who has been lobbying the EPA on behalf of his coal company, Alliance Resource Partners.  Pruitt and Craft have met no less than seven times in a fourteen-month period.

And also last week, it was reported that Mr. Pruitt had visited a jewelry store in Washington where he spent $3,230 of taxpayer money!  What, you ask, did he buy?  Well, $1,560 went to buy 12 fountain pens.  $130 per pen.  WHY???  I buy a 12-pack of pens for $5.99 and they write just fine!  And anyway, doesn’t the GAO provide such things as pens, legal pads and toilet tissue?  I do not know quite what the other $1,670 was spent on, but we are told it was “gifts to the Administrator’s foreign counterparts and dignitaries upon his meeting with them.”Prior to any of the above, Pruitt was already under investigation for a host of potential crimes, including frequent first-class personal travel at taxpayer’s expense, inappropriate relations with representatives of the coal mining industry, unnecessary sweeping 24-hour security measures that have cost the EPA roughly $3.5 million, and more.

And amid all the scandal, Pruitt’s top aide, Millan Hupp, resigned on Monday – Friday will be her last day.  Hupp, as the director of scheduling and advance, has been entangled in many of the scandals dogging Pruitt.  She was one of two aides who received hefty salary bumps, even after the White House refused Pruitt’s request for raises. She recently testified to the House Oversight Committee that she regularly spent her days doing personal tasks for Pruitt, from hunting for housing to calling the Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C., in order to inquire about purchasing a used mattress.  Yes, you heard me right … for some unknown reason, Herr Pruitt wished to buy a used mattress from Trump Towers.  Ick. Pruitt’s top legal counsel, Sarah Greenwalt, also gave her resignation.

The democrats in Congress have long been fed-up with Pruitt’s costly antics, but this week, even the republicans are tired of it.

“I’m not going to come down here, just because he happens to be a nominee of a president I support or a nominee from my party, and try to defend the indefensible. I thought that Mr. Pruitt would have learned his lesson.” – Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana

“Some are true; some are not true. Whether he can weather the storm, I’m not sure. The accusations are all troubling. They are.” – Republican Senator Jim Inhofe of OklahomaThis man thinks the U.S. Treasury is his own personal bank account.  Remember Trump’s claim that he would “drain the swamp”.  Instead, he put Pruitt, the granddaddy of all alligators in it and feeds him well every day, at the White House mess, as it happens.  According to an article in Politico, Pruitt has been eating at the White House mess nearly every day … so often that he has been asked to cut back and “please eat elsewhere sometimes.”

It is past time for Scott Pruitt to hear the words, “You’re Fired”.  It is past time for We The People to demand accountability, starting with this very worst example of corruption, thievery and violations of ethics.  And it is far past time for Congress to demand that the Director of the EPA be fired without severance!  No, Donald Trump, Scott Pruitt is not doing an “impressive” job at the EPA, for he is far too busy wheeling and dealing, and wasting OUR money!

  3. At Tuesday’s White House press briefing Scott Pruitt’s recent fiasco was of interest to some reporters. One asked “How is that President Trump continues to have confidence in the EPA Administrator, assuming that he still does?” Sarah Huckabee Sanders response was that she had not discussed the Washington Post article with the President yet, but…”We continue to have concerns and look into those, and we’ll address them.” I am so relieved, because we all know that she never states anything less than the truth according to Trump. Then again, the question was not really answered. Concerns? Scott Pruitt’s level of corruption and environmental destruction demands more than concern, it demands immediate firing! Thank-you!

    • I am gobsmacked by this one. Tom Price was fired, as he should have been, for taking private jets at our expense. Okay, but what Pruitt is doing is 100 times worse than that, and Trump is still praising him??? I have not seen this level of corruption in any administration in my 67 years! But yes, I am relieved that Sarah says they are looking into it, for she is such an honest idiot! 😉

  4. Dear Jill,

The EPA head Pruitt should have been gone ages ago. Remember Tom Price HHS Secretary and the VA head David Shulkin who were fired for much lesser offenses.

It is because there are major donors supporting their man, Mr. Pruitt that he is still alive to where he thinks he is invincible. These are our tax dollars at stake.

Mr. Pruitt is one cheap bum. Can you believe he was trying to get a used mattress from one of Trump’s hotels? Ugg!

    Hugs, Gronda

    • I wondered why he hasn’t been fired, and Trump is still singing his praises. I do not recall seeing this much blatant corruption in my entire 67 years! Yes, I am disgusted by the mattress thing … WHY??? Sigh.

  5. Jillybean, while I cannot get behind the notion of CO2 causing planet change, warming or cooling. I can get behind the notions of how the planet is being polluted beyond belief. Industrialists seem convinced the rock we live on. Is here for their convenience? Which also goes arm in arm with ideas of land ownership, etc. Since I have come to a conclusion, there is nothing I have the power to change. I am resigned to living out this life, in the best way possible. I can change myself; which is the way to change others. Banknotes are not really wealth. Coal, lumber, minerals and water, etc are of import for industrialists. Industrialists believe they own these commodities. Bankers, like the redshields. Help to prop it up. The plan laid out by Adam Weishaupt is fully realized. The five pointed stars and saturnian insignia imagery. No longer hidden, they wear them on their sleeves. Corruptions do not, really, win any day. They become weights on the soul. We all die eventually. That is when we face the real judgments of karma. Nothing will ever change here.

As you point out, people like Mr. Pruitt; live in the swamp. Their souls are so twisted, they are happy to do so. Today and forever. Cheers Jamie

    • I think, though some of what you say is over my head, that you are saying the same thing I have said before. Mankind is not the ruler of the planet as he sees himself. In fact, he came here rather as an intruder and when he is gone, the planet will remain. Man is extincting himself, and I find that of late, I don’t really mind. Cheers!!!

  6. Jill, I want to separate two issues. Scott Pruitt and Donald Trump have both purposefully forgotten what the P stands for in the EPA. Coupling that with Trump leaving the Paris accord, solar panel tariffs, propping up of coal fired utility plants and offshore drilling permitting and the Fossil Fuel welfare help continues.

But, even if the opposite were true and Pruitt were a fine environmental steward, he is still up to his eyeballs in malfeasance and misspending of taxpayer proceeds. Like his boss, he believes he above the law. And, I read he tried to distract scrutiny by pointing a finger at fellow cabinet member Ryan Zinke. That is a DC version of the middle school response “But, he did it, too.”

Pruitt needs to resign or be forced to resign. It is that simple. Keith

    • Thanks Keith. Yes, you are quite right that there are actually two separate issues at stake. I didn’t mention the damage Pruitt and his policies are doing to the environment, for I have done so in previous posts, and the reality is that no matter who leads the EPA, if Trump is in the White House, nothing will change because Pruitt is doing Trump’s bidding. But he was the wrong person for the job to start, having sued the EPA on numerous occasions as Attorney General of Oklahoma.

But his fiscal malfeasance and treating the entire agency as if it were put there for his personal benefit is escalating to the point that I cannot recall ever seeing such corruption in my 67 years. I cannot understand how he is still in his position! Is everybody in D.C. wearing blinders? Sigh. Where are the watchdogs? I’m tired of all this.

    • I fully agree, but as long as Trump is in office, whoever is over EPA will likely do the same as Pruitt is doing. It’s what Trump’s blind followers want, and he has to keep them happy, because they are the only people in the whole world that support him. If he pisses them off, he is doomed. Oh, how I wish …
