Blowin’ In The Wind …

It is late.  Like you, I am tired.  Like you, I am sad.  Like you, I am fighting, but sometimes I need to stop and breathe.

  1. I was just about to add a comment after reading the post and ask if you chose Bob Dylan’s version, because he wrote it and his was recorded on July 9th,1962 (although not released until 1963). Lo and behold, while slowly moving down through the comments…question answered. Perhaps, it’s one of those great minds, etc. things! I do much prefer Peter, Paul and Mary’s version.

      • Yep … I tend to wait too long to do that, for I have this misguided notion that I am some sort of super-woman, and I can handle anything. And then I cry for 2 days over a dead bee and that’s when I know it’s time to step back. 🙂

    • Quite by coincidence, for I was looking for Against the Wind to post as a comment to one of Emily’s posts! Yes, I prefer the PPM version too, but last night, as I was in a funk, Dylan’s seemed apropos. :/

  2. Dear Jill and friends,

I, Jill and Keith are frequently blogging on similar issues almost simultaneously which is great as we bring different perspectives to any subject.

Right now, it is easy to feel as if everything we do is just blowing in the wind.

It is so frustrating to see our president getting away with acting like a Russian asset. Personally, I am convinced that his antipathy towards NATO is based on Russia’s wish list which is to drive a wedge among western democracies. This also helps explain his imposition of tariffs on our neighbors and friends based on US national security interests.

The tell on this have been the president’s hints that Russia should be able to legally annex Ukraine as its citizens speak Russian anyway; and the president’s demand that Russia be allowed back into what used to be the G8..

The other clue is the President’s announcement that S Korea would cease all future military exercises with the US and other allied forces at the June 12th Trump- Kim Jong-un summit, which was a complete surprise to US advisors, and allies like S Korea but which was done at the behest of Russia.

Remember when President Trump was told by a myriad of advisors not to call President Putin to congratulate him on his election win. And so, the president just ignored all the experts by calling President Putin to congratulate him.

I am terrified as to what the president is going to do in his meetings scheduled in the UK, NATO and Finland where he plans to have a one-on-one meeting with President Putin with no witnesses and/ or note-takers. Why don’t we just ask the president to betray our country and our allies without any intervention?

    Hugs, Gronda

    • Yes, I love it when we all tackle the same topic from different perspectives. And you are right … it is all too easy to feel as if we are simply blowin’ in the wind … hopefully time will prove differently.

I agree with you, Gronda … more and more it feels as if Trump is truly at the end of Putin’s puppet strings and helping Putin establish some sort of a ‘new world order’. A year ago I would have said that sounds like a conspiracy theory aka Alex Jones, but the more we learn, the more he cozies up to Putin, the more convinced I am that Putin had a plan all along, and rigging the election to get Trump elected was only the beginning. Trump is a fool, and Putin is smart enough to understand that and to know just how to play him. We are the unwitting pawns in this game.

      🥂 Here’s to a brighter future post-impeachment!

      Hugs!!!

  3. Lot’s of synchronicity today. Still one of my favourite “oldies” along with “Who Will Answer?” No matter how it is presented, it seems, the Earthian species is doomed to never learn the real facts of life; never able to add two and two and arrive at a simple four.

    • I think you are right. We see either what we want to see, or what we think we can make of what we see. We don’t appear to learn much from history and keep making the same mistakes over and over.

  4. I am … speechless??? I had no idea … no, when I picked this song and scheduled this post, your post probably hadn’t yet gone out. I was actually looking for another song … Bob Seger’s Against the Wind … and Google put this one at the top of the list, for some unknown reason. It had been years since I’d heard Bob Dylan’s version, for I have the PPM version on my walking playlist, so I listened to it once … twice … and on the sixth time, I decided to turn it into a post! I honestly had no idea this was the date it was originally recorded!!! A bit creepy, but also rather cool …. ♫ ♪
