‘Toons, ‘Toons, ‘Toons …

I am working on a project and find myself short on time today, so I thought a few cartoons might be just the thing for a few … um … laughs?  More likely a few shakes of the head and rolls of the eyes!

  1. Dear Jill,

As of the 21st of August 2018, the fourth estate is in a position to help President Trump face the reality of his current position which is perilous, at best. Truth is truth, facts do count, the “rule of law” still prevails.

I love these critical cartoons which would never be allowed in the countries that President Trump approves.

    Hugs, Gronda

    • Yes, I just hope the press doesn’t pull back from aggressive reporting, based on fears of repercussions from Trump constantly harassing and taunting them, calling them the “enemy of the people”, when in fact We The People have no greater friend at the moment than the press!

      Hugs!!!

    • You’re right … I believe that Trump’s constant denigration of the press and calling them “the enemy of the people” has had an effect on far too many. I read this morning that 43% of republicans would support giving Trump the power to shut down news outlets that are critical of the government. Not good … not good at all.

        • Yes, and that’s why it’s so important that we not let the press be restricted. That said, the media could help itself a bit more, too, by focusing on issues instead of treating Trump’s tweets as if they are some important word of the day! If they stepped back and ignored the man’s personality and focused on his actions, it might help.

          • Agreed on two counts.
            1) The First Amendment is one one of the greatest texts ever written in its simplicity and scope. It must defended.
            2) I would suggest the Press (worldwide) ignore the man’s tweets altogether. Do not reprint them, none of them, do not comment on any. Those tweets are not policy. They’re just ranting. And ignoring him will enrage him. (If you know any one at the Post or the Times, please pass it on)
            Have a nice week-end.

    • Thanks! I’m glad if I gave you a chuckle or two! Yes, I liked that one, and I later found another I wish I had used … Trump is looking in a mirror, saying “Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the best president ever?” and in the mirror is a reflection of Obama! 😀

  2. Jillybean, yuo we are being lied to, from government? I believe so. Propaganda, against the people has been used since … Ohh? Maybe perhaps Robespierre? I can see that the Egyptians weren’t above embellishment of the truth too? Maybe even Cyrus? State does that. Then once we cut through the bull. We have to help the next generations carry the torch? Or whatever lighting device? LED rechargeable self programming wonder.

Remember the Chicago Seven? … and government does not lie? Leaders like your POTUS do not lie and are not corrupt? … gasp!? Hey that’s their karma … Cheers Jamie

    • You confuse me on this one. I never denied that we are being lied to … daily, if not hourly. You don’t need to convince me that the administration and Congress lie whenever they can and are corrupt beyond belief. In fact, this is the most corrupt administration in the history of this country. So … did I miss your point … or did the whack on the face by a vacuum today addle my senses? Cheers!!!

      • Maybe I’m the one whacked? Always ready to concede that …

I just replied to this post. Not previous posts. How a vacuum cleaner jumped up and whacked me in the face? Will have to wait. Maybe it was like yours? Cheers Jamie

  3. Political cartoonists always bring to mind these words of Will Rogers : “I don’t make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.” Trump provides a landfill of material, on a daily basis. Thank-you!

    • Or, as they say, ‘Truth is stranger than fiction”. I have said more than once, as have other writers, that I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried! Yes, he does … too much material … he keeps me hopping just trying to stay afloat in this sea of detritus!
