I really wanted to play a different version of this one … a live recording where Kenny looks right at you with those gorgeous, soulful eyes and you just melt. Well, okay, perhaps some of you wouldn’t just melt, but some of us would. But, the sound quality on that one was poor, so you’ll have to settle for nature scenes while you listen to Forever.
Not much to say about this song, other than it was co-written by David Foster and Loggins’ first wife Eva Ein. And he closes all his concerts with this song because he says he knows that his audience will be back “even when I’m gone”.
One thing I did not realize is that Kenny Loggins was born in January 1948, making him three years older than moi! He sure is better preserved than I am!
Forever
Kenny Loggins
Now, while we’re here alone
And all is said and done
Now I can let you know
Because of all you’ve shown
I’ve grown enough to tell you
You’ll always be inside of me
How many roads have gone by
So many words left unspoken
I needed to be by your side
If only to hold you
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be
And even when I’m gone
You’ll be here in me
Forever
Once, I dreamed that you were gone
I cried out trying to find you
I begged the dream to fade away
And please awaken me
But night took a hold of my heart
And left me with no one to follow
the love that I lost to the dark
I’ll always remember
Forever in my heart
Forever we will be
And know that when I’m gone
You’ll be here in me
Forever in my heart
You always thought I’d be
I’d be yours
Forever

I concur with Roger! I would also like to add that my most favourite song sung by Kenny Loggins is “This Island Earth”. Can you guess why, Jill?

Oh yes, I don’t need to guess … I know exactly why! 😉

You do have a refined musical taste! 🙂
Whilst musical interpretation and appreciation do vary considerably between individuals and cultures, music is one of the best indicators of people’s cultural capital.
By the way, Jill, I wonder whether you know that I am also a composer and musician, amongst other roles.
You can find a small fraction of my musical compositions at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2013/03/10/soundeagle-in-soundcloud-art-music-and-compositions-about-new-sensations-love-life-country-nature-dreaming-meditation-and-spirituality/
These compositions are by no means representative of my musical oeuvres, but they do serve some important purposes, as explicated in the post. Please feel free to analyse and/or critique those compositions as well as my writing to your heart’s content at the comment section of the said post.
Please note that one of the pieces there is a musical quiz. No one has been able to fully answer the quiz yet. Perhaps you can!
May you enjoy a wonderful weekend!
