Gronda has a Christmas wish … and it is one that I share! You can read all about that Christmas wish on her excellent post, and I bet most of you will share the wish also! Thank you, Gronda, for this excellent post and for allowing me to share it. Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays to all my friends and readers!
I’ve just prayed for my Christmas gift. I have even previously shared my fantasy 2020 Democratic Party presidential ticket which is General James Mattis at the top based on President Trump’s claim that he’s a Democrat with a VP choice of one of the current party stars like Andrew Gillum, Beto O’Rourke or Stacey Abrams.
On a 12/23/18 tweet, Robert Costa floated the idea of General James Mattis as the VP choice which is perfectly fine with me.
Here’s the Robert Costa tweet:
A prominent Republican strategist confides, uneasily, today to WashPost: “Can you imagine if the Democrats were able to convince Mattis to be their VP nominee in ’20?”

While we’re at it, I’d like to throw Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D) into the mix!
During her visit to New Hampshire, Gabbard lamented that some leaders want to divide the nation and stressed that politics should stem from “love.” Gabbard, who practices Hinduism, would be the first Hindu in the Oval Office.
“When we start from this foundation of love, inspired by this love, then we can truly have that strength and that power to be able to take on the tough challenges that are before us,” she told a group of activists in Exeter, New Hampshire, the Star-Advertiser reported. “This is how we come together as people and draw from love that strength and that courage and that fearlessness that we need to take on those forces and those obstacles that seem insurmountable, that can seem too great to overcome.”

Dear Jill,
It looks like there are lots of acceptable choices for the 2020 presidential pick. Thanks a million for your support and for this reblog.

Always my pleasure, dear friend! Yes, with Trump in the White House, almost all choices begin to look pretty good! I would vote for my cat if I thought it would get Trump out!
Hugs!!!

I think it would be a brilliant idea to put a sound military mind like James Mattis on the 2020 Democratic Presidential ticket.

Perhaps as Vice President … I don’t see him even wanting the presidency, and at this point, he may not want any part of it. But, he has the knowledge in foreign affairs that I think would make him a terrific Secretary of State.

I hate to be the one who disagrees, but I would like to see the platforms of these people before making decisions or wishes. That being said, I actually prefer Biden…we need lots of healing and I see him as someone who might just be able to heal. I think Matis could be a good Secretary of State though.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! It’s easy to get caught up in the “anything but Trump” mentality, but in truth, we do not need to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire, as my mother used to say. I think Biden is an excellent choice, my only concern being his age. I would like to see some younger blood in the office, and I would like to see a woman, either as prez or vice prez. It is past time for this nation to put aside it’s prejudices and acknowledge that the world doesn’t have to be ruled by stodgy old white men! And I agree on Mattis … that man has more knowledge in his small finger than most do in their entire brains.
Happy Christmas, Brendan!

I hope your Christmas wish comes true. You have hope. On the U.K. it is not really about hope more about less bad options.

I know you are right, but nonetheless, my hope is that 2019 brings brighter times for both of our nations. I know the likelihood may be slim in both cases, but hey … if we give up hope, then what’s left?
So, how was Christmas for you and your son? I hope it was wonderful! Mind was lovely, but thoroughly exhausting!

Mostly very good. Shut the world out, best way sometimes.

When you do venture to look at the headlines you see talk of Brexit means Brexit, stockpiling medicine and food supplies, airlines grounded, troops being mobilised. You just turn off the news and shut out the world again – just for a day anyway.

Merry Christmas, Jill, and may /all/ our hopes and dreams come true, or at least a few of the really important ones. -hugs-

Thank you, dear friend, and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! I am hoping for a better 2019, but frankly am not holding my breath at this point. Sigh. HUGS!!!

Yes, it was lovely, thanks. 🙂 I think I won’t be holding my breath either, but I will try for quietly optimistic.

If only the voters and even the non voters in this case could fire him. His insistence on that stupid wall makes me think Mr. Trump should find someone to change his diaper and give him a new pacifier . He’s acting like a large spoiled baby who needs his nanny to wait on him, feed his hunger and yes, change that diaper and poke the pacifier in his drooping, spoiled mouth.
Merry Christmas, Jill.

You are so right … his mentality is that of a juvenile, but he is, at least in my opinion, a grown ‘man’ with an ego the size of Jupiter! And … contrary to what his loyal minions and followers believe … his interest is purely selfish and he has no concern whatsoever for the people he was elected to represent. But, sigh … we are stuck for the moment, so we need Congress to step up to the plate and babysit this jackass. Merry Christmas to you also, dear Angie! I hope you had a good one spent with your kids? Hugs!!!

It can’t happen soon enough. Maybe I’d like to see Beto O’Rourke as choice for President and Stacey Abrams as VP choice. Bring some feminine sense to proceedings.

What do you think about me entering the next race David? I could be the oldest and first female prez in history, lol.

You go, girl!!! I’m with you all the way! Now, can I have a cabinet position if you win? I’m thinking … perhaps … hmmmm … let me think a bit more. 😉 Hugs, my friend!

Any position you want! I won’t even decide to fire you a few months into my term. Not going to build any walls but just might tear a few down. You want to run my campaign?

Thank you so much! And I’m betting that you won’t yell at me every time I don’t 100% agree with you, either! Oh YES … I would love to run your campaign!!!

Let’s get this show on the road then. I only yell when the poltergeist in my apartment hides something from me. Or when stupidity manifests itself publicly as is the case of the infant in my future position. Sure hope I don’t get assassinated before I die a natural death at age 100. Really don’t want to be 101!

Alright … I’m working on ideas for the campaign as we speak, and just to ensure you are not assassinated, I think we should put David Prosser in charge of your security detail … what do you think? If anybody can keep you safe ’til you hit 100, it would be him. And now, I shall proceed with the fund raising!

I’LL LET HIM KNOW HE IS NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR MY SAFETY UNTIL I’M 100. THE DAY AFTER I HIT THAT MILESTONE HE WILL NOT HAVE TO WORRY ANY LONGER. AFTER ALL, I’M SURE HE WILL BE READY TO RETIRE AGAIN IN 24 YEARS! SO GO AHEAD WITH THE FUND RAISING. DO YOU WANT TO BE MY VP?

Just don’t tell him it was my idea, else he might well find a way to smite me from ‘cross the pond! 😉 Your VP? Moi??? I am honoured! Of course I would love to be your VP!!! We will make this nation one with a heart and a good bit of common sense!!!

GOOD DEAL! FOR MY FIRST PLATFORM WE WILL LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TIMES CONGRESS CAN BE RE-ELECTED TO 2 TERMS AND GET THOSE PROFESSIONAL POLITICIANS OUT OF THERE!
THEN WE’LL PUT CONGRESS ON THE SOCIAL SECURITY PROGRAM LIKE THE REST OF US AND STOP THE GOLDEN PARACHUTE THEY ARE ALL SHELTERING UNDER.. IT MIGHT BE TOO LATE TO SAVE THE SYSTEM BUT I’M GONNA GIVE IT A TRY. AND EVERY DEBATE WE HAVE WILL HAVE TO OPEN WITH MY OPPONENT AND ME GIVING A SHORT CONCERT SESSION. I AM, AFTER ALL A MUSICIAN!

I like your ideas! Two pet peeves I hope we can also address: 1) voter disenfranchisement, including gerrymandering, and 2) gun regulation. Oh … and health care … either an expanded ACA or Medicaid for all. Think we can squeeze those onto your platform as well?
I didn’t know you were a musician! What do you play?
LikeLiked by 1 person
We can definitely get those on the platform! And we will put all the members of congress on the Social Security system and get rid of their golden parachutes. And maybe fine the big drug companies who are withholding so many meds that will cure little stuff like cancer because it is more profitable to keep on treating it with the more expensive methods they use today.
before I messed my shoulders up.
And I play guitar–or used to

Works for me … I’m especially in favour of fining the big pharma companies. I am insulin-dependent and have to order my insulin from Canada, where I pay only about $400 per month, whereas in the U.S. it would cost me more than $1,500 per month … nearly all my social security check! Yes, insurance pays some, but not nearly enough. I tried playing guitar in high school, but being partly deaf it just didn’t work out. Well, let me get some campaign speeches written here … gotta earn my keep, y’know! HUGS!!!

Since I’m partially blind make sure those speeches are written in very LARGE letters please. Doesn’t the Diabetic Association pay anything at all for your insulin? That price had me running out for a stiff drink — or would have if I drank, could run, and the weather was better. Since I only drink my cherry coke and have plenty on hand I just got a refill from the fridge. My MS meds, when I took one of them, were over $2000 per month but the Orphan Disease people funded them for me. I don’t even get that much Social Security per month, so if I had to pay for that shot I would be in deep doo-doo. Don’t take anything now beause of the bad reaction to the first one. I sometimes would buy my meds from Canada back then, but now I only take one for my legs, and by getting it thru the Humana Pharmacy it is free. Yay for that, because it’s pretty darn expensive whenn I have to pay for it.
Can’t wait for that first speech. BTW, should I go ahead and do a blog announcing that I’m running now or wait a few months. We want to hit the trail in a hurry, right? Besides, I need something amusing tyo write about these days.
Hugs,

That duo works for me, and I agree … I think it’s high time we had a woman in charge, even if only as VP.
