Even Snarkier Than Usual Snippets …

Lies, LIES, and more LIES!!!  Does anybody really believe a word the ‘man’ in the Oval Office utters anymore?  Does anybody still believe this is a government “of the people, by the people and for the people”?  Does anybody blame me for being MAD???  Our friend Gronda told me yesterday that I can never be too snarky for her.  And so, if you thought I was snarky before … welcome to the Filosofa of 2019 … the Uber-Snarkstress!!!

So many bloomin’ lies … where to start?  Remember this one regarding the ‘need’ for a border wall …

“This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me.  And they all know it. Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”

Turned out, just as we could easily have predicted it would, that of the four living former presidents, not a single one ever said that to him, or even discussed it with him.  Just another lie that suited his purpose at the moment.  But his lapdog, Mike Pence, found a rather unique way to justify it.

“I know the president has said that that was his impression from previous presidents, previous administrations. I know I’ve seen clips of previous presidents talking about the importance of border security.”

Um, no Mikey … seeing a president say something on television does not constitute a direct, private conversation.  And talking about ‘border security’ does not necessarily imply a wall.  Wow, Mikey … how low will you stoop to shore up Trump’s lies?  Does it not leave a horrid taste in your mouth?  🤢

One down, 19 to go!

“I continue to stress that there is no good reason for a shutdown. The reality is thousands of federal employees & contractors have no paycheck in sight, small businesses that rely on them are suffering & there’s no reason they should be held hostage to a political dispute. It’s important that we continue the debate on how we address border security & address the President’s top priorities, but it’s possible to provide for security & to address the humanitarian crisis on our border, while still doing our jobs to keep the government fully functional.” – Lisa Murkowski, Republican Senator from Alaska

True or false?

Senator Lindsey Graham spoke with Trump’s potential nominee for Attorney General, William Barr, recently.  After the conversation, Graham was asked if he felt Barr could be trusted to protect the Mueller investigation.  His answer?

“They’ve been personal friends for over 20 years. His opinion of Mr. Mueller is very, very high in terms of ethics and character and professionalism.”

He went on to say that Barr’s and Mueller’s wives attend Bible study together and Mueller has attended the weddings of two of Barr’s daughters.

Not exactly a written guarantee, and I’m not sure I trust Lindsey, but still, there’s something a bit comforting in knowing that Barr & Mueller are friends.  Let us hope Barr has a conscience and doesn’t pander to the whims of the madman in the Oval Office.

Ever hear the term ‘separation of church and state’???

The headline reads …

North Dakota lawmakers want to require Bible study in public schools

North Dakota is one of those states that largely seems to go unnoticed, so I have to wonder if this isn’t simply a cry for attention … “Hey … Look at us … We’re going to defy the Constitution … nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah … “

“A group of North Dakota lawmakers — all Republicans — have introduced legislation that would require the state’s public schools to teach a unit on the Bible. The unit could be on the Old Testament, the New Testament, or a mix of the two, and would count toward students’ social studies credit requirements.”

YO — North Dakota ‘lawmakers’ of the republican variety!!!  Listen up … some of us are NOT Christians, do NOT ascribe to the bible, but still, we send our kids to school!!!  Just what are we … those of us who are Muslims, Jews, Hindus and atheists … chopped liver???  But wait … North Dakota is not alone!  A member of the Florida State Legislature, Kim Daniels, has proposed a bill, HB195, that would require — rather than just permit, as is the case now — high schools to offer an “objective study of religion.”  In 2017, Kentucky passed the “Bible Literacy Bill”, the purpose of which was to “provide to students knowledge of biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture.”

In normal times, I would look for all these cases to land in front of a judge quite quickly, but … these are not normal times.  However, in the interest of fairness, I think each of these states should also require equal time for the study of Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood!!!

The temper tantrum …

Since when is it appropriate to react to a temper tantrum by giving the thrower of the tantrum lots and lots of attention?  Try that with your toddler sometime and watch what happens!  So, on Wednesday, Trump met with Pelosi and Schumer for the 895th time in two weeks, and predictably Trump said, “I want my wall … WAH!  Gimme gimme gimme my wall!”  Equally predictable were Pelosi’s and Schumer’s responses:  “NO!”

So, Trump slams his little tiny fist on the desk and storms out, slamming the door behind him.  And then … the parents of this brat … the media, go into full circus mode and report it multiple times in every single media outlet both here in the U.S. and abroad.  Every. Single. One.  Thanks, guys … thanks a lot for giving the spoiled brat in the Oval Office the attention he was seeking!  Oh, and by the way … Trump brought candy to the meeting … did he really think a pack of Skittles was going to be worth $5.7 billion???

This little temper tantrum should have been ignored, just as we are well-advised to ignore the fits thrown by our two-year-olds.  It should never have even been reported, let alone turned into “the breaking news of the day”.  We already know he is a hot-headed bully … we really didn’t need to be reminded.

And now, I shall stop and breathe for a little while, perhaps even read a book that has nothing to do with politics in hopes of stabilizing both blood pressure and heart rate.  Good Morning, my friends.

  1. Just about the only thing that can be “believed” coming from Trump is that it will be lies! Donald Trump is a powder keg with a short fuse and there is an imminent danger that it will be lit, to the detriment of this country. This fact should not be lost on those GOP sycophants and supporters, though the lure of money and power are difficult for them to ignore. It is much easier to walk over the wishes of a constituency, until re-election looms on the horizon and remorse may set in…albeit too late for those trampled upon. As to religion being taught in school, public schools should be kept to the standards of separation of church and state, thereby respecting the right to the beliefs or unbeliefs of all. Imposing one form of belief upon everyone should be illegal and should be challenged through the courts…although the outcome of that these days has become questionable too! Thank-you and snark on in any form of snark that suits you, whether snarkier or snarkiest, all are welcome!

  2. I would like to see more photos disseminated publically of Trump’ childish antics. If his angry base is going to continue to support him, at least let them see his Presidential embarrassments more directly.

      • Pictures don’t lie. He denied he stomped out of the shutdown meeting for example. He claims the White House is functioning perfectly while staff defections occur regularly. Let his adoring base see and hear his obscenities and daily disarray. What will they tell their children about such madman antics?

        • The thing is, though, that they see and they don’t care! I saw a ‘letter to the editor’ in my local paper where the writer, a male, plainly said that his behaviour does not matter at all, as long as he brings jobs and builds the wall to keep ‘others’ out. Funny, but Obama’s behaviour always mattered, down to the brand of mustard he used and the colour of his suits!

  3. I’m outta words and comments…but still read your wonderful blog.
Well one comment…we have set upon a dangerous path and there is no telling where it will end up. I fear for the country and for decent good hearted people that are opposite of the trump cult and the “it’s all about my reelection” Republicans. I’m afraid the writing is on the wall.

    • I understand … there comes a point where you’ve said it all at least 10 times and nothing any longer has the power to surprise. I’m thrilled, though, that you keep reading my blog posts, for you are a treasured reader and I think of you as a friend. You are right … I cannot predict where this will end, but I am fairly certain it will get worse before it gets better. Hugs!

  4. The mainstream media in this country is doing the citizens no favors when it reports on trumps tantrums as if they were breaking news. They are complicit in this kind of horrid shit happening because they are enablers of the child in the oval office. This is just another nail in the coffin of mainstream media and why I have long ago lost all respect for them. You don’t see journalists in alternative media like on YouTube and bit chute reporting on this kind of crap.

    • Listen to MSM is a double edge sword. Yes the media informs, but they also color the news in such a way to sensationalize the story, to get maximum traction. The greater the emotional response, keeps ppl coming back for more. Journalists no longer just report the news, they have to sell/ spin it. So yes you are right, our media is definitely complicit to the President’s behavior.

    • You are exactly right! They can ignore a 7-year-old child being shot to death, but cannot ignore the tiresome rants of a man who does so on a daily basis. It’s old. It’s tiresome and tiring. And it is feeding his ego, giving him exactly what he wants — attention. Can you imagine how he would react if his name and face did not show up at all in the news for a day … better yet, a few days? Why, I believe he would have a complete meltdown!

  5. While the Bible is literature it’s also religion. They should know better but have been emboldened by Trump to go over the red lines. These are the same people who speak of the U.S. as a Christian country. Some of them even think Catholics are going to hell because we don’t believe exactly the same as they do even though we’re Christians and were the only ones before the Reformation. —- Suzanne

    • I haven’t read enough of the bible to speak intelligently about it, but I’ve never considered it literature. I agree with you, though, that those who insist this is a “christian nation” need to read their Constitution, for it was established as a secular government for a nation that opens its arms to those of any or no religion. I’ll never understand why one viewpoint has to be right, and all the others wrong. Sigh.

  6. I’m just trying to imagine the steam coming out of your ears like a factory siren.Thinking in terms of carton just about stops me grinding my teeth together when I read about the asinine politicians who have to insist that children are made to read a book that parents are quite capable of making a decision about, but shouldn’t as children shouldn’t be taught fairy tales are facts. At the age of about 14 give them the option of studying this book and making decisions about it for themselves.

    • I don’t believe the Bible or other holy books should be taught in public schools as they are religion as well as literature. Trump has encouraged this kind of thinking. That said, I see nothing wrong with parents teaching their religious beliefs to their own children in their own homes. It’s every person’s right to believe or not believe in various holy books and wrong for those who don’t believe in them to call them fairy tales. It’s insulting. Please try to see it from our point of view. If those children reach adulthood and discard those beliefs that’s their right but there’s nothing wrong in giving children a belief to grow up with. A Hindu man here asked me if he could borrow a Bible to read. I loaned him one, “The Good News Bible” which is accepted by Protestants and Catholics. I never tell a Hindu their beliefs are “fairy tales”. That would be insulting their intelligence and I wouldn’t blame them a bit for becoming angry. I firmly believe we are “all” God’s children and have just as much chance of eternal happiness no matter what our religious beliefs. Jesus told us not to judge. I do call out wrongs and lies that injure others. I consider that “righteous anger”. Even the Lord showed righteous anger. —- Suzanne

      • The problem with teaching children religious beliefs is that it is usually taught with the “we are correct and the others are wrong” attitude that’s sets up division from the get go. It would be much better to teach simple take care of each other , treat others as you want to be treated, not judge and absolutely take care of the environment. But these things aren’t taught. It’s the dogma and the “only we know the true path to heaven” nonsense.

        • Exactly! There is only one “right” way to think, and all others must either be converted or condemned. Believe as you will, but don’t shove it down my throat or force it on my children. Sigh. So much of the hatred in the world throughout history has been a result of religion. I would opt to abolish it altogether if that were in my power.

    • Actually, I’m surprised you couldn’t feel the heat from that steam coming out of my ears all the way ‘cross the big pond! You already know I agree with you 110% on the teaching of religion in schools. First, religion belongs in homes and churches, NOT in schools. Secondly, not every family is of the christian faith. Do I not have a right to send my child to school to get an education if I don’t want christianity shoved down his/her throat? Aaaarrrggghhh … this one makes me want to use my rolling pin on people’s heads! And me a peace-loving woman!

  7. Who knew? Since no one else will listen to him, trumpo talks to dead presidents, who happen to have no choice but to listen, and agree. Just like the 800,000 governments workers who can’t afford to put food on their tables in 2019, nor can they apply for food stamps. Of course they want to keep on working for free, or not working at all. Trumpo would not dare lie about that, would he? He is delusional, delirious, and dastardly. The only emergency crisis he can find is the one he is creating. Does that really count?
As for the media, why look for other news? Trumpo is their orange-haired boy. So what if the hair is fake! So is everything else about him. Snark! Snark!

    • Yep, if there is a national crisis, it has his name written all over it! You’re right about the media, but they are just playing into his hand, not doing us any favours. He LIKES being the center of attention, in fact he NEEDS it to survive. Can you imagine him if he wasn’t in the news at all for, say, 3 days? He would literally have a melt-down!
