Good Monday morning, friends! Come on in … don’t worry about tracking snow in … Jolly will sweep it up in a minute. Did you all have a wonderful weekend? Mine? Oh, well, since it stayed well below freezing all weekend, and since I’m still doing battle with a respiratory ‘thing’, I stayed in all weekend, but I did get to spend some time reading and sleeping, so that was nice. I’ve simply got to get some energy back this week, for as you can see, we still have Christmas lights and decorations up in the living room. I managed to ‘un-decorate’ the rest of the house, but the living room is still pretty Christmas-y. I gave some thought to just leaving them up, since we’re already a month-and-a-half through the year, but no … they must come down this week!
Grab a snack and a cup of java or tea, and let’s see if we can find something to help us start the week out with a smile, shall we?
Coca-Cola is rolling out a new flavour for the first time in over a decade. I don’t drink soft drinks more than three or four times a year, but I’m likely to try this one … Orange-Vanilla. The company also considered raspberry, and lemon-ginger, but after a test run of the orange-vanilla in Canada proved successful, they chose that. Said a company spokesperson …
“We wanted to bring back positive memories of carefree summer days. That’s why we leaned into the orange-vanilla flavor combination — which is reminiscent of the creamy orange popsicles we grew up loving, but in a classically Coke way.”
It will be in stores on Monday, February 25th, so mark your calendars! And if you try it, let me know what you think.
Perhaps I’m old-fashioned, but … I find the concept of online dating services to be just a bit creepy. First, it seems to me an act of desperation. Second, I’m leery of strangers, especially in this day and age. But even with that said, this next story is just about beyond weird in my opinion.
Samsung has rolled out a new ‘dating app’ with a unique twist. Instead of seeing a picture of the person they are trying to hook you up with, you see a picture of the inside of their refrigerator! According to Samsung’s website …
Dating where the inside is all that counts
Refrigerdating is a service that helps you to find love based on the content of your fridge. By uploading an image of your food, you can get in contact with others who have realized that you are what you eat!
Thanks, but no thanks. And anyway, if I uploaded a picture of the inside of my fridge, anybody with an ounce of sense would run in the other direction very quickly!
You’ve all heard the expression, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”? Well, David Aguilar, who is studying bioengineering at Barcelona’s International University of Catalonia, proves that to be true. Born with only one arm, David combined his love of building with Lego blocks and his need for a second arm, and … well, watch him show you what he has done …
Pretty awesome problem-solving skills, wouldn’t you say! I love the “can-do” attitude!
I came across a few funny meme’s on a friend’s Facebook page and decided to snag them to share with you this morning …
By the way … before I forget! Thursday is Valentine’s Day, so if there’s someone special in your heart, don’t forget to send a card, or just call and say, “Hey … I love you!” You don’t have to spend a lot of money on flowers or jewelry … a card will mean just as much.
And finally … what’s not to love about these adorable Red Pandas?
I hope you’ve found something to bring a smile to your face this morning, and that you’ll share those smiles with those who need them most. Keep safe & warm, and have a great week, my friends! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa & Jolly!
Loved the jokes! 😀 (Stories were good too.)

I’m so glad! We all need to start the week with a smile, even if it doesn’t last much past noon! 😊

Most of my single friends and my sister, are happy to be so, however they arrived at that state, but one of our writers’ group, in her sixties, was on line shortly after her partner’s demise. At each writers’ xmas dinnner or summer BBQ she had a different chap! One time she came to writers with an engagement ring and we didn’t even know she was seeing someone; they went on their first holiday and broke up. … and from chaps’ point of view – I overheard a mature gentleman saying ‘If I had known she just wanted someone to take her to Waitrose … Waitrose is an upmarket supermarket. Perhaps it pays to look in the fridge.

Like most of your friends and your sister, I am quite content to be single. Some people seem to feel a need to have a man in their lives. I’m amenable if it happens, but certainly not going in search of. Perhaps you’ve heard the country & western song “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”? I did get a good chuckle, though, out of your story about the woman in your writer’s group!!! Poor woman hasn’t yet learned to be content in her own company! And yes, perhaps it does pay to look in the fridge! Most single guys I know probably have a fridge full of beer!

Thanks for the smiles, though now I am hungry because of your pics and I want a red panda for a pet!
Showing someone the inside of someone else’s fridge, yeah…that is just strange!
I have to say that yes online dating does sound scary, but I know 3 couples now who are happily married due to online dating so I guess it can be successful, you just have to be very smart about it!
Hope you get feeling a lot better soon, time for reading though is always nice! Happy Monday to you my friend!

I’m so happy I was able to bring a smile to your face to start the week off right! Yes, the red pandas are always a delight, and while I’ve always heard they are not good housepets, some of these seemed quite tame.
My daughter also has a friend who found her husband through an online dating service, and they have been happily married for 20+ years now, and have adorable twin daughters. But it definitely isn’t for me.
Happy Monday to you, and I hope you have a great week!!!

Jill, I hope you feel better in the colder north. Your dialogue between the boss and an employee reminded me of a conversation with my sister. Our mom is immortal as my sister continues to get mail for her – even after my sister moved after our mother passed two years ago. She will even get the occasional mail for our dad who passed away twelve years ago. Keith

Thanks Keith … feeling a bit better today. That’s funny … twelve years and still getting mail! But, we have lived here over 20 years now, and occasionally the odd piece of mail will show up for the former tenant! Have a great week … send some of your warmer air up this way, if you would!

I’m so glad you liked it! Eh, I get this every year about the same time … I seem to have a bit more energy today, so perhaps I’m on the mend. Have a great week!

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Mary! Yes, I fall in love every time I see the red pandas … or regular pandas, for that matter. Or most any cute critter! Last bit of warmer weather we got melted all the snow so quickly we had flooding! 😀 Can’t win, it seems. Have a great week!

Fun stuff! I loved the joke. We are digging ourselves out from repeated snows. It’s the worst we’ve had in many, many years ago. My back is getting tired — as is my old snow thrower!! Have a good week!

Poor Hugh!!! Yes, I’ve been reading about your weather of late and I think of you whenever I see that more snow is headed your way, and especially when I see your temperatures! Can’t you pay a neighbor teen to shovel/blow your snow off the drive? Take care of the back, my friend … And you have a great week also … remember that Spring is just ’round the corner! (I hope)

Hope you are feeling better. That young man and his self build is amazing.

Thanks … beginning to get a bit of energy back. Yes, he is amazing … he’s built several of those now and from his own imagination — no blueprint or step-by-step instructions. I should have such talent!

Thanks Filosofa for a great start to the week. I admire the young man with his Lego prosthetics, I have trouble justg building a wall. Mmm, a certain American President should try that.

‘Tis my pleasure to bring a smile to your face to start the week. Yes, I thought his efforts pretty amazing, for I have built with Legos before and my houses always end up looking as if they had just come through a hurricane. I think that’s an excellent suggestion … much safer than the concrete wall he wants, and more colourful, too. Have a great week!

Happy Monday to you Jill. Hope you’re feeling a little better.
Fun stuff. I don’t drink pop, but Orange & Vanilla sounds quite tasty.
And you never know, that dating app might catch on. It could have saved a friend of mine a lot of money. He lives in Spain and is somewhat lonely (still waiting for his divorce after his wife abandoned him). He started on line searches and ended up booking an ill timed, and hardly affordable trip to Thailand (against my advice) to see a woman who appeared to like him. Long story short, is that he found her to be psychotic, jealous, and manipulative. He found that she ate constantly which grossed him out. Reading his account of his time with her, was like reading Stephen King’s ‘ Misery.’
Now, if only he could have seen inside her fridge before spending all that money… 😉
Fortunately, he escaped and is now back in Spain licking his wounds and thankful that he didn’t lose any bits of his anatomy. 😂😂😂

Thanks, my friend! After 2 weeks of this respiratory thing, I am beginning to regain a bit of energy. The tale of your friend’s “adventure” sounds horrid!!! Poor guy … but, he should have listened to your words of wisdom. No wonder the woman was seeking companionship via an online dating service, though … she sounds like a psychotic pig!
