Someday perhaps I will go an entire week without feeling a need to impart my snarky snippets, but today is not that day.
In dispute of science …
We’ve all seen and heard the climate change deniers … those who, regardless of background or education, claim that they know more than all the highly-educated scientists who have studied the environment and climate for years, some for decades. But here’s a new one … a germ denier!
Fox News host Pete Hegseth has said on air that he has not washed his hands for 10 years because “germs are not a real thing”.
Say What??? Has this dude never caught a cold?
“My 2019 resolution is to say things on-air that I say off-air. I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for 10 years. I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them; therefore, they’re not real.”
If you ever had doubts that Fox News does not hire the brightest in the field, here is your proof. Hegseth later said that he meant it as a joke, but personally … I’m not so sure.
“We’re on a show and we have fun and we banter and I’m like, eh, you know, maybe I haven’t washed my hands for 10 years. My half-hearted commentary to the point is, we live in a society where people walk around with bottles of Purell in their pockets, and they sanitize 19,000 times a day as if that’s going to save their life. I take care of myself and all that, but I don’t obsess over everything all the time.”
This explains, maybe, why Hegseth works for Fox instead of CNN.
Oh yeah … alternative facts … how could I forget?
You’ll remember how Trump and his minions attempted to say that the crowd at his inauguration was “the biggest ever”? Turned out it was a significantly smaller crowd than Obama had at his inauguration in 2008, but Trump never gave up the lie. Well, last night he held a pep rally in El Paso, Texas, designed to stir up enthusiasm for his ridiculous border wall, and once again he inflated his crowd size.
Trump told the crowd gathered to watch him speak in the El Paso County Coliseum that so many people wanted to be there that the El Paso Fire Department found a way to cram 10,000 people inside the Coliseum, which typically has a capacity of only 6,500. The El Paso Fire Department, however, told Zahira Torres, an editor for the El Paso Times that the arena holds 6,500 people and that’s exactly how many were permitted to enter.
Trump also had to downplay Beto O’Rourke’s competing rally …
“A young man who’s got very little going for himself, except he’s got a great first name, he is, he has challenged us. So we have, let’s say, 35,000 people tonight — and he has 200 people, 300 people, not too good. In fact, what I would do is I would say that may be the end of his presidential bid. But he did challenge us.”
Police estimated that Beto’s rally was attended by between 10,000-15,000 people.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree …
I don’t know why Trump’s older sons, Don, Jr. and Eric, are given a platform to speak, for neither are particularly intelligent, neither are charismatic, neither hold a position within our government, and thus they are irrelevant. But speak they do, and like their father, neither are particularly well-spoken. But that didn’t stop Trump’s eldest, Don, Jr., from speaking at the aforementioned rally in El Paso last night.
“I love seeing some young conservatives, ‘cuz I know it’s not easy. Keep up that fight, bring it to your schools. You don’t have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth. You don’t have to do it.”
I repeat … Say WHAT??? Needless to say, Don’s comment did not go over well with teachers who, while not in the audience because they were out teaching socialism to these poor little kiddos, nonetheless heard about the comment. If it’s possible, I think Junior is even dumber than Senior!
The master speaks … will Trump listen?
Fox News’ Sean Hannity had as much to do with causing that last shutdown that lasted 35 days as any, save perhaps radical bimbo Ann Coulter. Today, Sean rides again!
Bipartisan negotiators in Congress have been working day and night to come up with a deal that would be acceptable to both parties, as well as Trump, and avert another shutdown starting at midnight on Friday. A tentative agreement has been reached, but Sean is not happy …
“On this so-called compromise, I’m getting details. 1.3 billion and not even a wall or barrier… Any Republican that supports this garbage compromise, you will have to explain.”
Garbage compromise? Sean Hannity, the lowest of low in the broadcast world, should be largely irrelevant. Instead, the so-called president actually listens to Sean more than he listens to his experienced, educated advisors (Sean is a college drop-out with zero experience in lawmaking or government), and therein lies the danger. Will Trump take Sean’s words to heart? Is it possible that, rather than sign the bipartisan bill, Trump will allow the government to shut down once again on the advice of a media personality?
As of this writing, it is reported that Trump claims he is “not happy” with the deal and that if the government is shut down again, it is all the “fault of democrats”. Yeah, right, Donnie.
And now, I return you to your regularly scheduled programming!
Can you imagine what a better world we’d have if it were not for Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones and their ilk! People filled with hate and arrogance and spreading it endlessly to weak minded people and other bottom of the gene barrel types of people.
I think the base (cult) is worse than trump himself because he got elevated to president, namely because of racism due to Obama.
And the cult has grown in coming out of their deep, dark and rat infested holes by trump’s boldness and bigotry. And they multiply…rapidly and are ever more dangerous. This is really quite serious.

Heck yes! People might actually listen to real news and actually understand what is happening in the world!
The 33% or so of the population who actually support him ARE a bigger concern, for Trump will be gone someday, one way or another, but the mentality that put him in office will still be alive and well. This is why we need to a) get rid of the electoral college that failed at the very thing it was intended to do, b) correct gerrymandered districts so that everyone’s votes count, and c) do away with Citizens United and take the big money out of our elections. And … not a single one of those things will happen by 2020. Sigh.

Mr Hegseths mum told him off publicly so they showed on tv here in the UK. That’s a bit embarrassing, isn’t it? 😁

Dear Jill,
I can’t get enough of your ‘snarky snippets. The president does have a thing with crowd size. Heck, the day after his inauguration, those who attended the Women’s March outnumbered those who attended his inauguration.
I do wonder if the GOP had to pay for those who attended the El Paso rally as most had to come in from outside this border city. There were news reports that President Trump was very upset that the GOP mayor called out his lies about how the 2006 wall construction reduced the crime rates.
Hannity and others are singing a different tune about this latest Congressional agreement. It is disgusting to know that they didn’t give a second thought to all those government workers who were harmed with the government shutdown.
As for President Trump’s sons, its a good thing they’ve had their fortunes handed to them because, otherwise, they would have a much harder time to make their mark.
Hugs, Gronda

I’m glad you can’t get enough of my snarky snippets, for I seem to have more and more of them these days! I wonder why?
You are 100% right about Trump’s sons … if they had to actually use either their hands or their brains to earn a living, why they would in the poorhouse by now! But then … in truth, if Donald Trump hadn’t inherited his initial millions, I doubt he would have been capable of earning a living, either.
Hugs!!!

I read somewhere that if Trump loses in 2020, Fox will likely go belly-up! Their fortunes and his seem to be linked … go figure. I refer to them these days as ‘State tv’. Sigh.

I don’t think they’ll go belly up. Hate is a big seller as we have seen in the last few years.

True, but Fox has so fully aligned themselves with Trump, that they may find it hard to find a new focus, especially if we have the good sense to elect a democrat next time around!

Once more Trump has a deal. Every time he gets less and he still listens to idiotic talk show hosts instead of his educated and experienced advisors. Apparently, he thinks the talk show hosts are some of the best people. Oh, I forgot, they said they liked him. 😦 — Suzanne

Right! All it takes is to praise and stroke him, and like a lonely puppy, he will follow you to the ends of the earth! Actually, I think the most experienced and wise of his advisors have jumped ship now, and what is left are the idiots and the warmongers. We are headed for that iceberg!

Hello Jill. The stupid , it burns, it burns. Please tell me these people were not educated in the USA, please! What a sad statement on the US, I do not know what is worse, the ones in office or those that so fervently support them. Hugs

I know just what you mean, Scottie. The ignorance that is running rampant in this nation is … it leaves me speechless (well, obviously not quite speechless). And, with the ‘dumbing down’ of our education system under DeVos, how do we overcome this? But … if you were incensed by this post, did you see the earlier one titled ‘Two Jaw-Dropping Moments’? Here’s a link in case you didn’t, for I think this one will interest you https://jilldennison.com/2019/02/12/two-jaw-dropping-moments/

Hello Jill. THanks for the link. I have missed a lot of blogs lately. I have not been feeling well for a week, on new medication that makes you ill until you get use to it. I will enjoy catching up. Hugs

Jill, thinking of the start to a famous song, “Oh where do I begin?”
No germs? Really? I guess he must not have bacteria in his gut to break down food.
We taxpayers pay for the President to fly to a place to sell us on a solution using false information and fear. Mr. President, please save us the money and lie to us from your home. Also, fewer reporters will get hurt that way.
The two Trump boys are supposed to be running the business. The fact they have not much to add, they were part of the deal to separate the President from his business. But, we all know that was BS from the outset as the President is making money off the Presidency, which is in violation of the emoluments clause.

Great idea … let the ‘man’ stay at home and sow his fear and hatred, thereby saving We the Taxpayers bundles of dollars in travel costs and Secret Service salaries. And, as you say, the journalists and cameramen will not be subjected to the whims of the ‘Maga’ crowd as they were last night.
Yes, we all knew that Don & Eric running the business was a farce, and Trump distancing himself was a bald-faced lie. But … BUT … We the Taxpayer are footing the bill for the Secret Service to accompany Don and Eric on all their Trump Organization-related business trips to Saudi Arabia, Europe and elsewhere. It is another of those WTF moments. And yeah, Trump is raking in the dough while he is in office … and there is no longer a credible OGE to do anything about it.

Jill, when Obama was President, his travel and golfing was a huge issue to the GOP. The current President dwarfs all of that and by involving his family in a mafia-style management of the US, we must pay for theirs as well.

You are absolutely right, and did you read in The Post today that he has had a a room-sized “golf simulator” installed in the White House for his pleasure … at our expense!!! Grrrrrrrrrr …

The picture of Don Jnr shows him looking like he’s just told a whopper , you can tell he has and you can also see the relationship with his father because his mouth is open. Mouth open, – lies come.

Yes, I rather thought the picture looked as if he, himself was surprised at the c**p (not a fish) that had emitted from his mouth! Ever since the pictures of him and his brother Eric posing with beautiful wild animals they had maliciously killed were posted, I have had a deep hatred for them both. That he parrots his ‘daddy’ only adds fuel to the fire. Tonight I posted a link to this post on his Twitter feed in hopes that he will see in what contempt he is held. Lies. A family trait, it would seem.

Remember the dentist that killed that lion and just recently some macho man paid $110,000 to kill a rare goat, I believe, in Turkey?
These people are totally horrible!
How could anyone look another innocent creature in the eye and just kill it or horribly give it pain…all for fun. Humans are disgusting!

Oh yes, I remember the dentist, and I also remember the many pictures of Don Jr and Eric Trump proudly displaying the beautiful animals they had killed. I am sickened anew every time I even think about it! I don’t think I’ve heard about the goat, though. Like you, I have no idea how anybody can kill a beautiful animal for sport, and I have no idea why they do it, either. I think it takes a lack of conscience … they are definitely not the sort of people I have any respect for. Heck, I cannot even kill a spider!!! I scoop them onto a piece of paper and set them loose outside. Same with flies and bees. 😀

DISGUSTING!!! And he high-fived his friend, as if it were something to be proud of. I wouldn’t mind seeing this man and the Trump boys and the dentist all lined up before a firing squad!

See my comment on Jaw-Drpping Moments regarding the use of the socialist word. Don Jr. proves my point for me, lol.
Meanwhile, from what I’ve heard of Beto, I hope he not only gets the nomination, but crushes Trump into his swamp. Then let el dumpo replay his words from El Paso. Maybe he can serve them with rancid sauerkraut.

Don Junior is a throwback to prehistoric times, along with his brother Eric. I will never be able to forget the pictures of them with the beautiful wild animals they killed … and I shall hate them forevermore for it. I did see your other comment, and just finished replying. Beto is full of the right ideas and full of energy, but I think his time has not yet come. Unfortunately. However, my predictions have been sorely lacking for the past two years, so what do I know?

I was really just using Beto as an example because of the way el dumpo dismissed him last night. Really, I don’t care who puts him out on his ass, as long as someone does. I want him to eat his words.

I agree … somebody needs to send him back to oblivion and irrelevance. However, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I don’t care who does it, for consider this: it is possible that some are just as bad as Trump, but smarter, which would be a lethal combination.
