Jay Inslee: The 7 Issues Guide

Today I bring you the 8th installment of TokyoSand’s excellent series, The 7 Issues Guide, helping us get to know a bit about the platforms of the democratic candidates running for the office of president next year. Jay Inslee is on deck today, and I didn’t know much about him, other than that he is the Governor of the State of Washington, but I like what I see here. Thank you, TokyoSand, and your diligent volunteers, for helping us get to know Mr. Inslee!

  1. I have long admired Jay Inslee’s attention to the environment and climate change. A quote of Inslee’s that I repeat is often wrongfully attributed to President Barack Obama. Obama had used the words at the U.N. Climate Change Summit in Sept. 2014 as from “one of our governors”, although not stating Jay Inslee’s name : “We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change and the last generation that can do anything about it.” I think that he deserves watching as the field of candidates unfolds. Thank-you!

    • I fully agree! There are several really good candidates out there … it’s going to be a tough choice, but I hope the Democratic Party can unify behind a single candidate and not engage in infighting amongst themselves. It’s like that old saying, “United we stand, divided we fall”.

  2. Jill, Governor Inslee should get serious consideration. His track record as a business person and governor is strong. His work on the environment and climate change is refreshing and needed. He would be of appeal to Independents like myself. Keith
