♫ Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You ♫

This song, written by composers Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin, was first recorded by George Benson in 1984 and released in 1985.  This original version was produced by its own author Michael Masser, and was released as a single only in Europe in 1985. The song was not released as a single in the United States, but nevertheless, Benson recorded two video clips in the U.S. the same year, which were displayed on television programs. Two years later, the song became even more well known for a re-recording by Hawaiian singer Glenn Medeiros, whose 1987 cover eventually topped the charts in several countries.

I like both versions, but am partial to George Benson.  However, since they are both worthy, I am posting both so that you can choose your preference.

Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You
George Benson

If I had to live my life without you near me
The days would all be empty
The nights would seem so long
With you I see forever, oh, so clearly
I might have been in love before
But it never felt this strong

Our dreams are young and we both know
They’ll take us where we want to go
Hold me now, touch me now
I don’t want to live without you

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I’ll never ask for more than your love

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through
But nothing’s gonna change my love for you

If the road ahead is not so easy
Our love will lead the way for us
Like a guiding star
I’ll be there for you if you should need me
You don’t have to change a thing
I love you just the way you are

So come with me and share the view
I’ll help you see forever too
Hold me now, touch me now
I don’t want to live without you

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I’ll never ask for more than your love

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through
But nothing’s gonna change my love for

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I’ll never ask for more than your love

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through
But nothing’s gonna change my love for

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I’ll never ask for more than your love

Nothing’s gonna change my love for you
You oughta know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through
But nothing’s gonna change my love for
Nothing’s gonna change my love for you

  1. A bit sappy, but catchy! This song has a great chorus, more specifically a refrain that hooks you and reinforces the whole love theme. Glenn Medeiro’s cover is exceptional as I like his version better than Benson’s, both are excellent! Now this song is stuck in my head. 🙂

  2. A great song I can only sort of remember. It’s like a memory of amemory. I never watched video shows, videos wrecked songs in my opinion. I like to look at my memories that a song inspires, not at some director’s image of whatever he or she thinks it should be like.

          • There are too many songs to go through, so if I may make a suggestion, Sit Down I Think I Love You by The Mojo Men, from California I believe. Funny thing, when I googled The Mojo Men it came up blank. And when I searched them in You Tube, they came under Mojo Man. If you do a post about them, be sure to note the drummer/lead singer. No man there.

            • That’s odd, because when I just now typed “Mojo Men” into Google, the first thing that popped up was the very song you mention. I will definitely play this one this week, but not tomorrow, for Ellen gave me quite a chastisement and even threatened to club me for missing Stevie Wonder’s birthday today, so I daresn’t fail again! 🤣

As for Google, I think it works differently in different geographical areas, or countries.

                • I agree!!! What good is it to tell me on the day, when I prepare my music posts the night before? And sometimes she doesn’t even tell me until the day after, saying she was waiting to see if I would “remember” such-and-such a birthday or anniversary. REMEMBER??? Heck, I don’t even remember my own birthday half the time!

I’m thinking you’re right about Google, for I’ve found that I often get different results from a search than my UK friends do, too.
