Good friend and blogging buddy John Fioravanti has been on hiatus from blogging for a while, took some time off to do a bit of soul-searching. Yesterday he made a comeback with a beautiful post based on the words and wisdom of Maya Angelou. The world is so divided today, filled with hatred and intolerance more than at any time in our lifetimes, but Maya’s words should serve as an inspiration to all of us – a message that love and caring for others can overcome the hatred. A reminder that we are all the same – human beings – and that what we have in common is far greater than the superficial differences. Please take a moment to read John’s beautiful post, and to welcome him back to ‘blogger-dom’! Thanks John, for this lovely post and we’re happy to have you back!
Thank you for reblogging John’s wonderful post. I am so glad he is back to blogging. He has chosen one of the best people who speaks words of inspiration.

Hi Jill,
I started a comment on John’s blog, but beat that topic to death there, so I decided I should share the wealth, and and finish my intention here. Ms Angelou wrote about humans, and in his post John wrote about humans, which is good if you are human. But humans are far outnumbered by a lot of species, and many of the species that do not outnumber us got that way because of human presence, or dare I say, human interference. To restrict our connection to only humans is to live inside a box. I believe we should connect to every living being on Earth, and if there are any off Earth, to them too.
I know I have said this in many places at many different times, but I believe all life to be connected, and hurting one is hurting all. There truly is no reason to treat any living being without respect. They are doing what they are born to do, whether it interferes with human endeavours or not. Any crossover between others and us is strictly on us. We are the interlopers. In my opinion it is time we learned to share the Earth, instead of trying to own it. We do not own it. At best we can live here for a time, but we cannot stay here for all time. Our needs are so outrageous, the way we live, we are eventually going to use up everything the world has to offer. The Earth will be barren, as far as humans are concerned. I would like to see us learn now how to get along with all forms of life while we can still learn to share. Not sharing will hurt us in the end. And it will be the end, for us.

That is at once a profound and yet such a simple solution to most of humanity’s problems, rg. I wish, I wish, I wish… connection is everything. 🤗❤️👩👨

No doubt I agree with you … you already know that overall, I prefer animals to humans for they are far more pure and noble than humans. However, John wasn’t negating the value of the other species, but was addressing only one specific topic. It’s rather like, if I wish to write a post about the colour blue … it doesn’t mean that I hate orange or red, only that I can only address one thing at a time. But to your point, yes, the human species may well have been somebody’s idea of a bad joke, and in the future, I will choose to inhabit the animal kingdom where at least there is respect and they won’t kill you for the colour of your fur.

I wasn’t arguing with John, but trying to expand his area of concern. Think big, not in a box. There are times to start small, but not this time, in my opinion.

Sorry, Jill that was supposed to read “ reblog” not ‘realignment’.

Heh heh … I was confused, but for only a few minutes until I saw this correction. Hope today (yesterday) went okay. Will email tomorrow.

My pleasure, my friend! And I might be scratching my head over “realignment”, but I have read your later comment, so I know what you meant. 😉 Big hugs! 🤗
