The New Pinocchio Drug!

There is a new drug on the market.  I don’t know the medical name, but it is commonly referred to as the “Pinocchio Drug”.  Apparently, the drug is available only to republicans, and early drug trials were performed on a number of Trump’s own staff members.  The drug makes it such that the person who takes it cannot recognize a lie.  A few examples …

First, there was the new White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham, who replaced Sarah Huckabee Sanders in June, but has never yet held a press briefing, and continues to be Melania’s “communication director”.  In an interview with The Washington Post, when reminded that the WaPo Fact Checker had documented 12,019 lies told by Trump from the time he took office on January 20, 2017 thru August 5, 2019, and then asked if she thinks he lies, she responded:

“No, I don’t think they’re lies … I think the president communicates in a way that some people, especially the media, aren’t necessarily comfortable with. A lot of times they take him so literally. I know people will roll their eyes if I say he was just kidding or was speaking in hypotheticals, but sometimes he is. What I’ve learned about him is that he loves this country and he’s not going to lie to this country.”

On the same day, Wednesday, one of Trump’s re-election campaign spokespeople, Kayleigh McEnany, appeared on Chris Cuomo’s CNN program … she has obviously also been taking the drug …

Cuomo: You don’t think this President has lied to the American people?

McEnany: Let me finish, Chris.

Cuomo: You–

McEnany: No, I don’t think the President has lied.

Cuomo: –have to answer that question, first.

McEnany: I don’t think the President has lied.

Cuomo: He has never lied to the American people?

McEnany: No, I don’t think the President has lied.

Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney proclaimed with a straight face on Friday morning that President Donald Trump has never lied to the American people, asserting that Trump has only ever exaggerated and spun.  Varney was interviewing Joe Walsh, who recently threw his hat into the presidential ring in a bid against Donald Trump for the republican nomination.

Walsh: Stuart, do you believe this president lies?

Varney: No.

Walsh: You don’t believe he’s ever lied?

Varney: He exaggerates and spins.

Walsh: Okay. Do you believe he’s ever told the American people a lie?

Varney: No.

Walsh: Stuart, he said there were high-level phone calls with Chinese officials, his staff admitted that was not true, that he lied in order to manipulate the market.

Varney: That’s not a lie. If the man said and he did that high-level talks had been held with China, that is not a lie. They were held with China.

The drug has apparently been on the test market for quite some time, for back in April 2018, U.S. Representative Jim Jordan from Ohio, one of the founding members of the ignoble House Freedom Caucus, was interviewed by Anderson Cooper …

Cooper: So you have heard the President lie? You haven’t heard the President lie?

Jordan: I’ve not heard the President — he’s always been square with me. That’s for darn sure.

Cooper: What about the American people?

Jordan: The American people elected him president of the United States.

Cooper: OK. But I mean, have you ever the President lie? That’s why I’m asking you?

Jordan: I have not. And the American people feel like the treatment he’s receiving from the top people of the FBI —

Cooper: A, I don’t think you can talk about all the American people. But I’m asking you — just yourself, have you ever heard the President lie?

Jordan: I have not.

Cooper: Really? So when the Washington Post counts hundreds and hundreds of times, none of those are believable to you.

Jordan: I have not seen what the Washington Post reported. You are asking me if the President communicated something it wasn’t accurate to me, I’m not —

Cooper: No. No, not to you. Has the President publicly said anything that is a lie?

Jordan: I mean, look, I don’t know of it. Nothing comes to mind. But look, people who talk as much as you and I do, my guess is probably, Anderson, you may have said something at some point that wasn’t 100 percent accurate.

Then there was Steve Bannon, Trump’s former “chief strategist”, who when asked if Trump lies, replied …

“Not to my knowledge, no. I think he speaks in a particular vernacular that connects to people in this country.”

Yeah, a vernacular of vitriol and outright lies.  Go take another dose of the drug, Steve.

And, of course, there was the very first test of the drug on Sean Spicer and Kellyanne Conway on the day of the inauguration, when Spicer claimed that Trump’s inauguration “drew the largest crowd ever” (it didn’t, not even close), and Kellyanne backed him by saying it wasn’t a lie, but merely a set of “alternative facts”.

Trump-pinocchioI hope that either this drug is taken off the market soon, or that someone develops an antidote and force feeds it to every bloody republican!  Listen up, people!  Yes, Trump lies … every damn day he lies … and he is making us all sick!  Get off the drug, now!  Take, instead, a dose of reality!

  1. It is fortunate for Trump’s mouthpieces that there is not a Pinocchio effect for their word manipulations. Trump is a dissimulator, a prevaricator, a fabricator, an equivocator…simply put, he is a liar! I would say that the above deniers of that truth deserve to be labeled with the same words! What amazes me is that their lying tongues haven’t turned gangrenous and fallen off. “The tongue may be employed about, and made to serve all purposes of vice, in tempting and deceiving, in perjury and injustice.” – Joseph Butler. Thank-you!

    • Yep, “a rose by any other name …”, or in this case, a liar by any other name. What amazes me is that so many are willing to overlook, or even forgive his lies. It’s one thing when an ordinary person tells a lie … mind you, even that is bad enough, for I hate liars, but who among us hasn’t told a lie at some point in time? But, when a “man” who holds the power or a nation, whose decisions and words hold sway over the lives of 330 million people, if not the entire globe … don’t you think people would hold him to a higher standard than Joe next door? Sigh. Those who continue to support him … I no longer to have a use for any of them. Those who would lie for him or cover for his lies … they ought to be placed in stocks in the middle of DuPont Circle in DC and let us all take turns throwing rotten tomatoes or rocks at their heads. (Need I say that I am fed up?)

  2. OH this is soooo true! Pinnochio drug for sure!!
I literally just read another lie in an article about how Hurricane Dorian is coming to the East Shore. It is rated as a Category 5, Trump says that he has never heard of a Category 5 hurricane, doesn’t know if there is such a thing.
Not sure where how he missed the past 4 Category 5 hurricane’s that we have had since he has been in office!
Of course the havoc he has wrecked since he has been in office goes way above a Category 5!!!!!

  3. Trump lives in a parallel world, which is where he gets all his info from. In Trumpland nobody disagrees with him, no matter what he says. They know that truth is whatever he says it is.
By the way, life needs carbon dioxide there to survive, not oxygen, so burning fossil fuels makes all the sense in the world. (Read the only kind of life there is plant life, which means even Trump is a vegetable with a veggie brain.)
Sorry plants, I wasn’t talking about you!

  4. Hello Jill. It is part of the plan to gaslight the country to get them use to the Dear Leader want-to-be dictator. The more they can just deny reality and make people accept it, the more criminal activity they can get away with. This is them trying to make all the bad information against them simply not true by saying it doesn’t exist despite how much we know it does. Reminds me of a little kid when confronted with the truth just saying it is not true. Come to think of it I this reminds me of religious people claiming against all evidence that evolution is not true. Hugs

    • What amazes me is not that they are such liars and airheads, but that some 40% of the people in this country are ignorant enough to believe it! What happened to people thinking for themselves? Yes, it is cultist, just like religions are … if somebody who we’re told to look up to says it, then … of course it must be true. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Hugs.

      • “Gaslighting” is apt in part, but there are also the lies of no consequence. Saying Melania has a great relationship with Kim, who she has never met, serves no purpose. Now, the repeated lie that China is paying the tariffs is gaslighting.

        • So true, and what is the purpose of those lies with no consequence? Does he just enjoy telling stories, or does he think somehow he is impressing someone? I’m thoroughly confused by it all. Oh wait … maybe that’s the whole purpose, to keep us confused and off-guard.

  5. Jill, oh my. Are we talking about the same person? To say he does not lie is offensive. I can think of more than a few top of mind. Give me thirty minutes, I can come up with many more. Here is a very small one from last week – Melania gets along with Kim very well – she has never met him.

Here is a larger 0ne from last week – I could not make the G7 meeting on climate change as I was meeting with Merkel and Modi – they were in the meeting he blew off.

Here is a consistent big one, he last said before he left for the G7. China is paying for the tariffs – no they are not (importers are who pass most of the cost to us).

Mr. Varney needed a real time, on-air correction. Mr. Varney, is Trump the person you want to burn your reputation on? Keith

    • Yep, isn’t it amazing how they can just tell lie after lie to support Trump’s lies? And, the incident Walsh was referring to, about Trump saying that there were “high-level negotiations” taking place with China … that little tidbit cause the market to rebound by, I believe it was about 300 points. Falsely manipulating the market can only lead to further instability. He should be called to account for such foolish rhetoric! But then, sigh, it isn’t the first, nor will it be the last time. Stuart Varney is a dolt, a fool, to as you say, burn his reputation on this. Do they not realize that someday Trump will be gone and they will have to make their way based on that reputation?

      • Jill, I received a letter from the GOP Nebraska state senator who called his party on the carpet for supporting white supremacists and was asked to leave the party by the state GOP leader. Apparently, I was not alone in calling him to congratulate him on his political courage. I posted it on my blog for all to see. Keith
