Schiff and Pelosi strike the right tone

I did not catch the press conference with Speaker Pelosi and Representative Schiff on Wednesday, though I have read a bit about it and have seen a few clips about Trump ranting like a 2-year-old while the president of Finland looked on in either amusement or disgust. But, our friend Jeff over at On the Fence Voters did see it and this is his take on it. Thanks Jeff!

On The Fence Voters

After watching the press conference yesterday with Rep. Adam Schiff and Speaker Pelosi, I became a believer that things are getting serious. And not only did the press conference strike the right tone, but it made me realize that we need more of them.

I’ve been critical of Democratic leadership in recent days, and rightly so in my view. More often than not, when compared to President Trump’s bombastic and confrontational style, they’ve appeared weak and on the defensive. With the White House in pure panic mode, though, it seems the Democrats have found their voice. And it couldn’t have come at a more convenient time.

At times, both Pelosi and Schiff have gone out of their way not to appear partisan. They’ve always struck a cautionary tone when it comes to the prospect of impeachment. But after yesterday, it seems that the gloves are officially off. When you hear…

  1. The thing the Dems cannot do is base their inquiry on just this one event. They have to pile on all his transgressions. He is losing his cool, as we all know, but don’t let him stand back up. Pummel him while he is down. The bigger the crappile the more he will stink, and the more crap he will be throwing at his fans. Make them stink too!

    • There are two schools of thought there … I agree with you … I think that at the very least, the factual incidents of obstruction of justice as outlined in Bob Mueller’s report must be included. Pelosi, however, believes that it is best to narrow the focus to only the attempt to blackmail the Ukraine into digging up non-existent dirt on Biden.

      • Pelosi is being political. She needs to become a realist. She cannot bring down a redwood with a Swiss Army Knife. I think Schiff can see that. But will he be able to use a chain saw? It depends on who is running the show!

        • Well, that’s one way of saying it! You’re right that she and the democrats must stand tough, but … they don’t need to indulge in the petty temper tantrums, lies, and mud-slinging that Trump and the republicans are. It’s possible to, as Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Speak softly and carry a big stick”.

    • I fully agree … there is no other viable option. But … I think there is a right way and a wrong way to present it to the people of this country … I’d like to see it done in such a way that there can be no doubt in anybody’s mind, that he has broken the law, will do so again, and must be removed before he does irreparable damage. I’d like to see it not further divide this nation, for we are dangerously divided at present.
