You Can Do WHAT Online???

A couple of weeks ago, November 20th to be exact, I received an email from a group called Concealed Online.  The email read …

“It was penned like this in December 1791…’A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’

Today, almost 228 years later, The World Has Changed… I am writing to urge you to GET YOUR CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT!

This week we celebrate our nations birthday… 243 years old (using the average human lifespan that’s just over 3 lifespans ago).

In that short period of time we have fought in 5 major wars, elected 45 presidents, and have passedover 20,000 laws…

Unfortunately, many of those laws have moved us further and further from freedom all in the name of order and protection. The truth is protection starts at home and our forefathers knew it… they knew this day of BIG GOVERNMENT would sneak up on us all…

This is why I encourage you fellow patriots exercise your right to bear arms HERE AND NOW!

I just wanted to encourage you that you should Get Your Concealed Carry Permit while it is still legal and easy… California Democrats has already made it nearly impossible to get one there and the Liberals are slowly advancing their agenda in Congress.

This site helps people get their CCW Permit through online certification… They are truly patriots, they are available by phone as well if you just want more information.

There may not be an option for you to legally carry next year. Tomorrow may be too late. Get your permit while its still legal to do so.”

And then they provided a link where I could “Start the online process”.  It wasn’t the first such email I had received, but it was the first one I decided to take note of … for I was curious … is it really so simple for a person to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon as simply logging onto a website?  And so, I did a bit of digging.

When I followed the link, their website begins with an introduction that said all I had to do to obtain a Virginia (note that I don’t live in Virginia, but Virginia has a reciprocal agreement with 28 other states) concealed carry license was to watch a short video, answer 12 multiple choice questions, fill out an application, send them $65 and PRESTO!  I could go around with a gun stuck in my waistband, pocket, or maybe even a holster under my shirt.  Wow, huh?

No, I didn’t watch the video or take the 12-question test, for the simple reason that I don’t want to be on these people’s radar.  I don’t know how they got my email address, but I have no intention of giving them a reason to keep bothering me with such emails.  But, I did do some digging and found that in last year’s election cycle, this organization spent mega bucks … some $2 million … advertising on Facebook.

Its ads warned about the “blue wave.” “MOB RULE IS COMING!” read one series of ads before the midterm elections.  And after: “IT’S ALMOST OVER! The Gun Control Dems are IN.”ConcealedCarryAd-01Concealed Online launched in 2016, three years after Virginia started allowing people to take online courses to qualify for concealed carry permits. Those permits are recognized in states across the country, and even nonresidents of Virginia are eligible. The company’s owner saw a business opportunity in that. So, he developed an online training course, where people can watch a video on gun safety, take a test, and instantly download a certificate of competency with a handgun for a fee. You can take the test as many times as you need, making it nearly impossible to fail.

A writer for WIRED, Issie Lapowsky, says she took the test and intentionally answered a few questions wrong, and still passed – though she had not even watched the ‘safety’ video!

The Better Business Bureau gives Concealed Online an F rating, in part because it has received 25 complaints—primarily from people who paid for the certificate only to find out that Virginia’s permits aren’t recognized in their state.  The company’s owner says Concealed Online sells certificates to people living in states like California and Colorado, which don’t accept Virginia permits, because they can use them when they travel to states that do.

Think about that one, folks.  John Doe can decide to go on a shooting spree and get permission to carry a concealed gun in 28 states within a matter of minutes, and for only $65.  Is it any wonder that the U.S. has the highest rate of deaths by gun in the world?  Is it any wonder that as of November 19th, there have been 45 school shootings in the U.S.?  Is it any wonder that as of October 31st there had been 370 mass shootings, killing 441 people and injuring another 1,466?  And is it any wonder that as of today, December 8th, there have been 36,734 gun deaths in the U.S. this year – 14,162 murder/homicides, and 22,572 suicides.  And those so-called “prolife” people worry about abortion???

Oh, and by the way … you can also buy a gun

  1. Tennessee offers a concealed carry permit online class but it’s much more involved. I think a lot of readers will be surprised to find out that in a lot of states, the bar for obtaining a carry permit is a simple application, no training required.

  2. Attaining a Concealed Carry Permit from the mail sounds like a scam. Aren’t all permits regulated and authorized on a state level? No private citizen or company can issues gun permits unless licensed by the state. Heck ya can’t even run a lemonade stand without the right vending permit these days. Yet one can get it by simply taking a sham test? It’s like paying for online college courses, they aren’t worth a damn but you do get a shiny dummy diploma.
Ppl who fall for this phony permit deserve to lose their money! 🙂

  3. You just need to look a country like Japan, which has very draconian gun control laws, to see that kind of legistlation actually works. According to a quick google search, in 2017 they had a total of 22 gun crimes, with only 3 gun related deaths. Even account for the smaller population that is a far different story than in the USA.
Personally I think that if people want to play with deadly toys then they should be willing to jump through whatever hoops are required to ensure said toys don’t end up in the wrong hands.

    • Wow! Only 22 gun crimes and 3 gun-related deaths? I think that if the framers of the Constitution had foreseen how misinterpreted and abused that 2nd Amendment would become, they never would have included it … or else would have made the wording much more specific and narrow in scope. But you are right … if they want to have their guns, they should be willing to agree to whatever measures are necessary to protect the rest of us. And … I think a total ban on assault weapons is a MUST. No civilian needs those!

  4. Jill, good work. Using a famous Arlo Guthrie line as a metaphor for the internet, “you can get anything you want ar Alice’s Restaurant.” I came to this metaphor with the later line “Kill, kill,” which came to mind here. Just what a gun crazed country needs – more concealed weapons. Keith

    • Thanks, Keith! Yep, I think if you look hard enough you can get anything you want on the ‘net. At least, in this country. I think if a person in the UK or Switzerland tried to buy a gun on the internet, they’d find themselves in a heap of trouble. Here, there’s that misinterpreted 2nd Amendment. Sigh.

    • Awwww … thank you so much for that! I’m struggling a bit tonight, so yours and Jeff’s comments helped pull me up a bit! It seems that no matter how much light we shine on these things, they continue to plague this nation. Sigh.

  5. You do such good work Jill. I’ve never heard of these people. How scary is this crap? Is it any wonder we’ve become the laughingstock to the rest of Western society? The lunatic fringe is on the prowl. Now, more than ever. All I can say is vote blue, no matter who. Even then it’s not a given that anything gets done on guns. But, at least we’ll have a fighting chance with majority Dem control. The NRA still sends shivers up the spine of the R party. We need to render them useless. Somehow. Thank you for shedding light on this pathetic scam. We’ve got so much work to do!

    • Thanks so much for your high praise, Jeff! This is very scary, and highlights what we both already knew, that there is no “law & order” in this nation of gun-lovers, a nation whose politicians are in the pockets of the NRA. We DO need to render them useless … but how? How do we convince our politicians that the NRA do NOT represent the goals of the average citizen? Sigh.

  6. We live in a degraded world. A deranged world. We live in a world full of fear and angst because people are running around with concealed weapons. There is only one intention for having a weapon, and that is to hurt someone or some animal. It does not matter what reason you have, the result will be the same… An injury or loss of life. Madness on a grand scale! 😔

  7. Every day I battle the fear and symptoms of depression over the world’s surge of accepted insanity. I had so many things to do and was eager for retirement and new opportunities. But without huge commercial retirement funds I am looking at working until I drop dead-that is, unless I get shot first at the grocery store by someone who doesn’t like that it sells organic coffee or has a gay person working there. I am so ashamed of this country. And so many so called patriots have the nerve to (mistakenly) call Costa Rica a third world country. Ignorance is spreading like a disease.

    • I hear you, my friend. I was able to retire early, and though we have no spare cash, I am happy to be out of the everyday world of counting beans. But like you, I am deeply ashamed of this nation and if I find the way, I plan to leave here and renounce my citizenship. It’s not only the politicians, but the fact that enough people in this nation are bigoted enough to support the current batch of numpties. Hugs.

  8. This Canadian mind is blown! In Canada no citizen can purchase a gun without completing a intensive gun course and passing a written exam (the textbook is weighty enough to be a doorstop) Forget loopholes, open carry is an absurd notion – it simply doesn’t exist under the law.
Americans who identify as patriots are anything but patriotic.

    • Every nation on earth has gun laws that put ours to shame. Sigh. Your Canadian mind is blown, but so is my mind. I hate this nation, hate that tools of death are more important than education, than environment, than rule of law, even than our children. This nation is not one to be proud of anymore, if ever it was. 😥

  9. I think the word “disgusting” fits that material perfectly. Are they planning on starting another civil war? What is liable to happen is one of their children is going to be fascinated with the gun and accidentally shoot another little friend. I’ve known that to happen to a schoolmate of my son’s and it’s heartbreaking. The parents of this only child placed a favorite action figure on his closed casket. 😦 — Suzanne

    • I agree … ‘disgusting’ is fitting. Another Civil War? Well, they have threatened it more than once. They have ‘promised’ bloodshed in the streets if Trump is impeached, or even if he is not re-elected next year. Should we be afraid? Probably, but I am not … I am just fighting mad. I’m sick and damn tired of the pussy-willow republicans who run for their guns every time we say “equality” or “climate change” or “Trump is an ass”. Sigh. Yes, that is heartbreaking … my heart goes out to those parents. 😥

      • If Trump is voted out, etc. I think many would have second thoughts about violence. The safety of their families and jobs would come first. That especially includes the involvement of any police or army members. They won’t jeopardize that security to come to the aid of an old man who want’s to start trouble. Any troublemakers will be quickly slapped in jail. 😦 — Suzanne

        • For the majority, I’m sure you’re right, but there will no doubt be some who think with some part other than their brain. My hope is that the police and military will be able to keep order. Can you imagine if he were assassinated? The assassin would be a hero to half the nation and the vilest of all creatures to the other half.

          • I think the threat of violence from Trump’s followers has been stoked by fear mongers. These are violent people who probably beat their wives, go on drunken rampages, etc. The police have always had to deal with them and will continue to do so. I wouldn’t worry. Besides worrying just gives us stomach problems It doesn’t solve a thing. —- Suzanne

            • You are so right about what worrying does to us! I seem to do more than my share of it these days. I hope you’re right about the threat of violence being just that … a threat. It isn’t one of my biggest concerns at the moment, but it does stay in the back of my mind.

  10. The Dems are coming, Jill. Be a patriot, get your permit to carry a concealed firearm. The nation demands it. Culture demands it. Dead founder fathers demand it. This reminds me of the person who said culture is guilt tripping by the dead

  11. Is this concealed carry permit actually legal, or just a piece of plastic that looks real? It looks to me like a scam from Nigeria or somewhere. Send us your money, and we will keep on sending you emails.
If you live in one of those 28 states, is your concealed carry licence legal? It would be real funny if you were being scammed!

    • Yeah, Jack … there is more than enough. 😥 This is a nation that … lives by violence, though we pretend to shun it. A nation that is no better than any third world nation, though we pretend … 😥
