Nancy Pelosi Spoke Today-Loud and Clear

Our friend Jeff at On the Fence Voters has done it again! I wish I had his way with words. This post is an excellent summation of the events yesterday in the House of Representatives, and he reminds us why the impeachment process is not only justified, but essential to the principles of the Constitution. Thank you, Jeff!

On The Fence Voters

Nancy Pelosi spoke today, and Donald Trump’s day of reckoning fast approaches. For only the fourth time in the history of this republic, articles of impeachment were submitted against a sitting president of the United States of America. Two articles, one for abuse of power, the other for obstruction of Congress, were released by the House Judiciary Committee. You can read them here.

In all, the document consists of only eight pages, a nod towards an increasing attention-averse population. The entire inquiry proceeded in this manner. Just short of 80 days, we’ve seen the committee do its work in swift and sweeping fashion. The Republican Party is left with no other option than to whine and complain to whoever is within shouting distance. President Trump is about to be impeached. As Trump’s Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said in his press conference weeks back, “Get over it!”

  1. Good share Jill.
Maybe what is needed now on the US scene is a democrat version of a raw-boned backwoods preacher with fiery oration and willing to take Trump and his crew on with loud and long condemnatory speeches, trading barb for barb, dirty trick for dirty trick.
This is war Jill, and the side who plays nice does not win.

  2. An excellent summation from someone who obviously knows Nancy Pelosi better than I. But I can’t help but think it would have been good to widen the framework of charges for some of those who do have the patience to read.Maybe with more charges more Republicans could have found something they understood. The more crimes committed the less chance the Republicans have of getting him off them all. However I wish you well and you can be sure he won’t survive the 2020 election.

    • It’s not that simple David, the charges must be substantiated with evidence. Schiff & Pelosi tried Quid Pro Quo, Collusion, Bribery and Treason but the witness testimonials could not confirm allegations. Allegations were mostly 2nd hand heresay, nothing definitive.
So Dems settled for the broader charge of obstruction & abuse of power. However these charges are rather weak b/c of subjectivity, biased interpretation from either side. I’m not quite sure how the House would make these charges stick. I have no confidence in this inquiry, will likely get shut down in the Senate.
Shameful political theatre displayed by both sides, this impeachment is about partisanship and control of the upcoming election. It’s obvious both sides will vote along party lines, there should be no surprise here. All i can say is we better double our efforts come election time!

    • I could argue either way. I would have liked to see some charges stemming from the Russian investigation, but I also understand that with Trump ordering everyone to defy subpoenaes and court orders, it would drag it out far too long. Sigh. And now, some democrats in the House are giving in to political pressure and saying they may not vote for the impeachment. SIGH.
