Ignorance Is NOT Bliss!

Yo … republicans!  Gather ‘round here for just a minute … I want you to listen to this bit from a speech your so-called president gave on Saturday …

“We’ll have an economy based on wind. I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. I’ve studied it better than anybody. I know it’s very expensive. They’re made in China and Germany mostly — very few made here, almost none. But they’re manufactured tremendous — if you’re into this — tremendous fumes. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint — fumes are spewing into the air. Right? Spewing. Whether it’s in China, Germany, it’s going into the air. It’s our air, their air, everything — right? So they make these things and then they put them up. They are noisy. They kill the birds. You want to see a bird graveyard, go under a windmill someday. You will see more dead birds than you’ve ever seen in your life.”

“I know windmills very much.  I’ve studied it better than anybody”???  What the hell does that even mean???  Trump claims that he doesn’t drink alcohol, but I’m not so sure I believe that, for he sure sounded like an old drunk to me!  He uttered 156 words that made not one little bit of sense, that had absolutely no meaning, except to prove his utter ignorance, for not one single thing he said is true!!!  And some of you guys still think he’s the greatest thing since sliced white bread???

The stupidity is astounding, would be astounding coming from anybody, but … the leader of a nation of some 330 million people?  No … just no.  But wait … it gets even worse.

He was speaking to approximately 5,000 high school and college students at the Turning Point USA conference in West Palm Beach, Florida.turning-point.pngAlso in attendance were Don Junior, Melania, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Dinesh D’Souza, Ted Cruz, Matt Gaetz, and Rudy Giuliani.  What a bunch, eh?  What is most disgusting, though, is that these young people, the future of this nation, were wildly enthusiastic about Trump’s message.  The topic that seemed to get the loudest applause, and a standing ovation, was when he bragged about turning away asylum seekers and exaggerated the amount of new border wall that his administration has built.  They repeatedly jumped to their feet, at one point chanting, “Four more years.”  And the part that should give you cold chills came when Trump yelled …

“From now on, start yelling 16 more years.”

This is not the first time he has hinted at or alluded to serving more than the maximum two terms.  This is not the first time, nor is it likely to be the last, that he has given the distinct impression that he will not leave the Oval Office without a fight, that he sees himself as a “ruler for life”.  The U.S. Constitution places certain limitations on the power of the presidency, but Donald Trump has shown disdain for the very document he took an oath to uphold.  Sure, there are ‘checks and balances’, but again, he has already broken those in more ways than one.  And he has his slavishly loyal supporters in Congress who refuse to do their job and rein in his power.

There are so many reasons that Trump must go, or we will find that by the end of his second term he has managed to destroy whatever was once good about this nation. And there is no reason he should be re-elected … not one single reason.  If the republicans put him back in office, it may well be the darkest day in the history of this nation, and will certainly be the darkest day for the future of the nation.  Read that bit of his speech from Saturday again and tell me if you think this is a person suited to lead.

    • Thank you so very much, Mary!!! I hope your holiday was wonderful! I wasn’t in the spirit (for obvious reasons), but I put you-know-who out of my mind for the day and had a lovely day with family & friends. Yes, let’s hope that next Christmas we are celebrating big time!

  1. Jill, he studies wind energy more than anyone, but does not know wind? What?

By the way, General Electric makes wind turbines here. They do quite well. Texas has the most electricity produced by wind energy – over 1/6 of its electricity. Iowa gets over 1/3 of its electricity from wind energy. The California wind energy industry worked with the Audobon Society to position wind mills away from bird flight patterns also making the mills taller.

Trump may want to study some more. Keith

  2. Seems most Presidents are voted in on certain things they can do, certain purposes they can serve, Trump so far as succeeded in nothing he’s peomissed and he;s shown himself to be inept at best and nasty at worst with his country’s
oldest allies. The longer Trump stays in, the harder it will be for America to regain.it’s dignity on the world stage.

    • You are right … they all have a platform, certain goals they claim they will accomplish. But, Trump’s ‘goals’ were all wrong to begin with … they were all based on bigotry and hatred. It speaks volumes, I think, that some 40% of this nation applaud those goals. I think that if Trump is re-elected next year, the U.S. will never regain the respect they once had globally. I also think this nation, as we’ve always known it, will cease to exist during the course of his second four-year term. This is why we cannot … simply must not … allow him to be re-elected.

  3. It’s absolutely incoherent Jill. Seeing those young people fawning should make all of us concerned. Like you said, they loved it best when he talked of getting rid of the asylum seekers. Where do you think they got those ideas from? Why their parents, obviously. They’ve filled their heads with this racist B.S, and now they’re worshipping at the feet of this moron.
Also, I saw a recent poll where large majorities of age groups support impeachment and removal of the idiot. You know which ones did not? The boomers. Yep, the old folks, mostly white of course. I kept thinking that once these people start dying off, we’ll slowly start to reverse this racist crap. I’m not so sure anymore. It’s disgusting. You and I are boomers, right? It looks like we’re in the minority Jill. I just found out a couple more friends of mind from back in college days are big-time Trumpers. I never would have guessed these particular dudes would be that way. Boy, was I wrong. 57-60 years-old…white guys. What the hell is wrong with these people? It really is one of the most perplexing questions of our time Jill.

    • That’s how I feel. I’m a boomer and I basically only have Democratic friends and certainly no trump supporters and we are all boomers or above. But I know a lot of boomers are big trump supporters.
I too use to think it would only be a matter of attrition and the younger generations coming of age to get things somewhat back to normal. But from what I’ve seen lately, like the white supremacy ok sign, that the college denies (yeah sure), I have real doubts.

We are on a fast track to oblivion….probably just as well.

      • I do not understand how people our age, people who have lived through some of the worst and best times, seen the best and worst presidents come and go, can possibly believe that Trump is anything near qualified to lead this nation. It’s insane! Sigh.

      • When a race of people have been dominant forever, and they see that dominance coming to an end? Trump is what we get. Totally agree Mary. You know, once Obama got elected, it became a trigger for a lot of these folks. They prefer to go back to the ‘good old days.’….back when ‘those’ people knew their place. It’s sickening Mary. The quicker you know who is out of office, the quicker we can start building the country and democracy we all want and deserve.

    • I am a bit confused by your definition of ‘Boomer’ here. I thought boomers were the post WWII generation. The ones who lived through the late 1960s as teenagers/early twenties students and protestors. Anyone under 60 was born in the 1960s and reached maturity in the 1980s. If they embraced ‘Reaganomics’ back then it’s perfectly understandable they support Trump now. That’s not to say there weren’t young people opposed to the right wing administrations of that era, or that people don’t change their world view as they acquire responsibilities.
I have a different theory, one I started to develop back in the 1970s. A large proportion of the clever people from Europe, UK and US migrated elsewhere 2-3 generations ago, leaving the idiots in charge back here.

      • I guess I’m referring more to the older boomers. I believe boomers are those born between 1946-1964. I would be at the tail end of that. It’s a generalization for sure. I just know that the majority of Fox News watchers are well over 65 and up. Consistently, they are Trump’s most ardent supporters. Poll after poll shows it.
Not a bad theory Frank, by the way. It’s as good as any I have heard.

        • Boomers was a term defining the “baby boom” that came about in the years following WWII, as soldiers returned home and … having been without for so long … became somewhat prolific and made lot of babies! I was born in 1951, and was definitely a result of the baby boom, as my father was discharged shortly before meeting my mother about a year before my birth.

Your theory makes perfect sense … explains a lot!

  4. fumes? Bird graveyards? what? Maybe I’ve inhaled too many of those fumes for rational thinking..yea, that could be why I think this man is not just an idiot, but a deranged disgustingly pitiful excuse for a human….makes sense, right? It’s the fumes.

    • I could speak more clearly and make more sense than that when I was three-years-old! I read that to my granddaughter who said, “How is he still alive?” Gotta wonder, yes? Hey Suze … I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Hugs, my friend!
