It seems that you and I, my friends, have suddenly become the “enemy of the people”! Just this morning, the invisible White House Press Secretary, what’s-her-name, said in reference to Donald Trump’s impeachment …
“… how horribly he was treated, and maybe people should pay for that. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but they’re being sore losers.”
Maybe people should pay for that??? What, should we all send him sympathy cards, or did she mean something more sinister? He’s an impeached president, for Pete’s sake! A criminal! She went on to say that Mitt Romney’s vote to convict Trump on the ‘abuse of power’ charge was just sour grapes, that he was only jealous because he isn’t president. This woman seriously needs to stop drinking the Kool-Aid!
Then, Trump spoke at a “national prayer breakfast” in Washington … I’m not clear just what a national prayer breakfast is, since this nation is so diverse that there really is no “national prayer”, and why do they need breakfast for their prayers? Leaves me scratching my head. But listen to what Trump, the impeached president, said …
“As everybody knows, my family, our great country and your president has been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people. They have done everything possible to destroy us and by so doing very badly hurt our nation. They know what they are doing is wrong, but they put themselves far ahead of our great country.”
Wait just one damn minute here … WHO has been putting themselves ahead of the nation for three years now??? WHO has done everything possible to destroy the nation??? So, we are all ‘very dishonest and corrupt’ people, eh? Well, funny he doesn’t seem to mind taking our money, does he? Oh … and he doesn’t like us, either …
“So many people have been hurt, and we can’t let that go on, and I’ll be discussing that a little bit later at the White House. When they impeach you for nothing, then it’s not easy to like them. It’s not easy, folks.”
Which is perfectly fine with me, because I don’t like him, either! I’m thinking we should all send a letter to him …
“Dear Donnie … Since you believe I am such a terrible person, then I will no longer burden you by sending you my tax dollars each month. I’m sure this will greatly relieve you of the burden of having to accept money from a terrible person.”
And then came his “victory lap”, a speech he gave shortly after noon today, whereby he further criticized and name-called democrats in general …
“We’ve been going through this now for almost three years. It was evil, it was corrupt. This is a day of celebration because we went through hell.”
Not a sign of that remorse Susan Collins claimed he felt, but instead he equated his crimes with jaywalking …
“Because if they find that I happen to walk across the street and maybe go against the light or something, let’s impeach him. So, we’ll probably have to do it again, because these people have gone stone cold crazy. But I’ve beaten them all my life, and I’ll beat them again if I have to. But what they’re doing is very unfair, very unfair.”
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr … I’d like to beat him … with a club! And then …
“They’re vicious and mean, vicious. These people are vicious. Adam Schiff is a vicious, horrible person. Nancy Pelosi is a horrible person. Mitch, he stayed there right from the beginning. He never changed. And Mitch McConnell, I want to tell you, you did a fantastic job. … He understood this was crooked politics. This was crooked politics.”
Crooked politics? Who is the biggest purveyor of crooked politics??? Have you ever, in all your years, heard a president speak in such a way about his fellow public servants? I have not. Not even Nixon, not even G.W. Bush … and certainly not Jimmy Carter or Barack Obama. Why are we putting up with this? Why are we paying to be treated this way? Last year, We the People paid $1.698 trillion … in exchange for which we get to be cursed, called names, cheated, lied to, and our lives endangered by this ‘man’ and his cronies. Frankly, folks, I don’t feel like we’re getting our money’s worth, do you?
this nightmare can’t end soon enough.

Thank you for sharing!!.. again, Trump , the “roof”, is only as strong as the “foundation”.. the foundation, his supporters (not only in government but public) know all they have to do is “fuel Trumps ego” and he will give them what they wish so they will continue to support him… there is no changing Donald Trump (a arrogant mortal on a ego trip), one needs to deal with the foundation for change… 🙂
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” ― Barack Obama

Jill, my reference to Pandora’s Box being opened was not taking lightly. The nature of the narcisstistic president is he does nothing wrong and every one else is out to get him. Everyone who dares criticize him is corrupt and untruthful (the narcissist play book calls this “projection”). What the GOP Senators have yet to fully realize is the cost of selling their soul to the devil. Less than 24 hours later, Trump not only is proclaiming what a sham it was and that those who did it our enemies of the people, but he will pull out his “hit” list and proceed to punish all those who testified against him. This is why their testimony under oath is so courageous – because they knew the nature of the little boy tyrant in the White House. Please forgive the name calling, but it was easier than listing all of the bad attributes. The president is not just rough around the edges, as his followers rationalize. Keith

I agree, and have used the Pandora’s box analogy myself a few times since it became obvious that he would not be held to account for his actions. Today is the proof in the pudding, with Vindman’s and Sondland’s firings. Who will be next, I wonder? More and more, I’ve come to think that there might not even be an election in November. After all, if he canceled it, who would stop him? Congress can’t/won’t, and I’m guessing the Court wouldn’t either. He won’t do it if he thinks he’s winning, but if he senses he isn’t?

Psychoipathic, narcissistic and abusive. And what does the abuser do? He blames his victim, then plays the victim. Bryan Adams had a big hit about 30 years ago: “Everything I do I do it for you.” Some see it as a simple love song, others as an abuser’s apologia. Take your pick. Or, to paraphrase one of Shakespeare’s charcters, “Methinks he doth rotest too much.”

You are spot on! But, I must tell you of a the coincidence of this comment! Just before I read it, my daughter and I had just finished watching an episode of Coronation Street … and an abusive husband and his victim wife were having a conversation whereby he mentioned the Bryan Adams song and told his abused wife that “everything I do, I do it for you”. Then not 10 minutes later, I saw this comment and needless to say, my jaw dropped! But, back to Trump … he has fired two people today for testifying against him during the impeachment hearings. He says they were ‘disloyal’ to him. We are in a mess over here, my friend. A royal mess.

We knew he’d act like this. He’s hardened into his positions. He’s a showoff of the first degree. He believes in revenge. If voters don’t get out and do their job we’ll certainly get four more years of the same. I can’t bear thinking of a third term. 😦 — Suzanne

He’s already begun taking his revenge on those who he considers were ‘disloyal’ to him … two people fired today for telling the truth when testifying at the impeachment hearings. The dictator has risen. 😥

Trump’s victory lap will almost certainly continue clear through to November 3rd. Let us not give him the possibility of another one! We have 9 months ahead of us, let us use them well and wisely to put this the most fascinorous and repudious excuse for a human being out of the White House. We the People can do it, We Must! Thank-you!

I have no doubt that you’re right … he’s only just getting started. Sigh. And, you’re right about what we must do. We must all take responsibility for talking to people, convincing them that the most important thing they can do this year is VOTE. It’s not just for them, but for the 7.7 billion people on this planet, not to mention the wildlife!

be prepared…..we no longer have half the country’s leaders following constitutional law, but the law of trump. our nation has never been under such attacks from within and it will get much worse before we get rid of the dictator. he wants a third term. He’s trying to talk the senate into giving him one.

Yes, that is what he is planning, and I won’t be surprised if he finds a way to postpone or cancel the election in November. Meanwhile, though, the democrats must stop their infighting and unify, else we won’t stand a chance at overthrowing him! Sigh.

The USA has lost its way and is no longer the “good” guys. Not so sure we were fully good to begin with. This administration is evil, mean and cruel. It’s so sad he was not removed.

I’m with you … I think the “greatness” of this nation has long been over-rated, but we have lost our respectability now. Our allies don’t trust us, and in fact they trust Russia and China more than us. Understandably. We have one last chance to remove him, so we must convince everyone to vote in November! It’s … life & death!

He is a Narcissist and a full blown Psychopath! “POOR ME….Boo Hoo!” Sadly …he is at the helm! Dear Lord…HELP US!!!!! Yes, and he is all about projection!!! How dare he talk about Joe Biden’s son, Hunter…. when his own children are benefiting left and right, from his presidency. Trump is all about Nepotism and Emoluments!!!! “The Pot Calling The Kettle Black” is a supreme understatement!!!!! Not that I am defending Hunter Biden. I’m not! The insults and the accusations directed toward Romney, The FBI and the Democrats…are unbelievable!!!! Blessings to Pelosi!!! It saddens me, that she has to even stay in the same room with him! He is SICK!!!!!! And, as for as Gaslighting….he wins the prize , for sure!!!! I keep thinking that it can’t get any worse, but oh it can…… and it will before he’s done! And, his favorability stats are climbing!!!!! HOW is this happening?

Bingo!!! You hit the nail on the head when you ask how he can even talk about Hunter Biden when his own kids are milking his position for every single dime they can. I read that Ivanka was — ‘disgusted’ I believe was the word — that we don’t honour her father more and give him credit for his accomplishments. Heck, I give him credit most every day for every heinous thing he does … what more does she want? 😉 It has been proven already that Joe Biden did nothing wrong, and that Hunter Biden might not have used the best judgment, but he did nothing criminal. So, now we’re going to waste even more taxpayer dollars to investigate something that is nothing. His approval ratings are, indeed, at the highest they’ve been since his first month in office, but … they will drop again next time he does something stupid. They go up and down … why? Because he has convinced his base that the impeachment was illegitimate, and for now they’re buying it. But wait … give it two weeks and I’m betting it will be back down in the 41% range again. We must get him out in November, for I fear if we don’t, we will have missed our last chance. Sigh. Hugs, soul sister!

It is both scary and infuriating. We must keep our eye on the ball, and all work to convince everyone to get out and vote in November! That may be our last best chance to stop this nation from turning into a tin pot dictatorship.

If you think the prayer breakfast and victory rant was bad, just wait for what’s coming down the pipeline.
Senate Republicans are now armed with sensitive information on Hunter Biden and his business associates which was quickly released to them by federal agencies. Seems like they’re going to do the hit job that Ukraine was supposed to do.
On top of that, I saw a story by Buzzfeed saying that Ukraine is still unable to purchase $30 million worth of weapons that Congress authorized last year.

I read this comment earlier, then went over to your blog to see what was what, and re-blogged your post. Sigh. And in other news, apparently Trump is going to fire Alexander Vindman for testifying in the House impeachment proceedings, along with several other NSC staff. I knew he would feel like all restraints to his behaviour had been removed once the Senate acquitted him, but even I didn’t think it would all start quite this fast.

I knew it would be fast. He made the Ukraine call the day after Mueller testified that he couldn’t do anything. Senate Republicans just said they’re not going to do anything to him. He’s free to do his version of Article II.
I just woke up, and I’m afraid to turn on the news.

Sigh … and by now, you know of Vindman’s and also Sondland’s firings. I know just what you mean … I wake every morning and am afraid to know what has happened while I slept … when I can sleep, that is.

I joked with my wife on New Years that this would be the year of Mad Dog 2020 because of the year. I didn’t think that the political situation in my country would make drinking bottle after bottle of MD2020 seem like a great idea.

Nobody in the history of politics plays the victim card more than the King, Jill. You know, Clinton was impeached for far less. And you know what he did? Apologized for his behavior. And, he certainly didn’t go on a verbal tirade berating the idiot Republicans for what really WAS a partisan witch hunt. He’s such a freaking snowflake…What he’s put the country through is a disgrace. 10 more months of this crap? I’ll be in AA by then!!

The contrast between Trump’s behaviour today and Clinton’s in 1998 is stunning. And let’s face it, Trump has done far worse than Clinton. Clinton had a consensual affair and lied to Congress about it. Trump has had so many affairs, some not consensual, has lied to Congress multiple times, has paid off hookers, lied, cheated and stole an election, colluded with foreign powers, used his office for his own personal enrichment … the list just goes on and on and on. And yet, ask any republican which of the two are worse, and I guarantee you they will say Bill Clinton. Idiots! We’re surrounded by bloody fools! Only 9 more months, Jeff, if that’s any consolation. Not 10. Nine.

I hear that Trump’s “approval rating” was up to 50% in the last poll….and that was before his State of the Union and National prayer breakfast speeches, so his approval rating will now probably go even higher. I shudder to think how high it will go if he wins re-election. I never in my long life thought the American people could sink so low.
LikeLiked by 6 people
It may have hit 50% in Rasmussen or some other poll, but the aggregate today stands at 43.7%, which is still his highest since his first month in office. And yes, I think it will creep up, perhaps as high as 45%, but I don’t anticipate it will ever hit 50%, for his supporters are in the minority, and … as we all know … he will do something stupid soon to bring it back down again.

I hope you’re right, Jill, but times have changed. Any other President in American history who has been as blatantly corrupt and egomaniacal as Trump would be about as popular as a rabid skunk by now.

Heck, if any other president had done half … a tenth … of what Trump has done, he would have been impeached two years ago. And just think, if Obama had done one single thing that Trump has done, they would have tried to hold a lynching. Sigh.

He plays the psychopath’s trick of projecting his sins on other people and sounding so sincere in the act. They probably do make the best actors anyway. He whinges and whines “It wasn’t me, somebody else did it” and hopes to get away with it. His baasee may believe the crock of sh*t he’s spouting but everyone else knew who was guilty the moment the rejected proof and witnesses. He couldn’t afford that. His departure is just a little delayed but he’s going.

You’re quite right! And sadly, some 40% of the masses are falling for his tricks. So far, he HAS gotten away with it, and rather like the powerless against a mega-monster, we cannot find a way to stop Godzilla’s destructive march. As always, I take comfort in your optimism. Sigh.
