Very Snarky Snippets

For starters, yes the stock market gained some 7% yesterday … ho hum.  Don’t get too excited, for it’s going back down … maybe today, maybe tomorrow, but there is no foundation for the gain and it is inevitable that it will plunge again.  As I said … ho hum.

Despite the fact that Trump claims to know more about everything under the sun than all the experts, he actually knows very little about anything.  So, early on when Trump visited the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), he claimed that all the scientists and medicos there were astounded that he knew so much about it all.  Funny, though, that we never actually heard any of those experts say they were astounded … no doubt they were astounded when they met him up close and personal to find that the ‘man’ who filled the seat of the highest office in the land was such an egotistical moron.

But now, he has taken his ‘genius’ to a dangerous level.  You may remember that I have referred to him as a snake oil salesman more than a few times.  Well, he is truly selling snake oil now, and lives are in danger, for he has no idea what he’s doing.  He is telling people to take some drug called “hydroxychloroquine” (please do not ask me to pronounce that!) that used to be a treatment for malaria.  He has no idea what it does, only that some country bumpkin doctor wrote to him and told him it would work, and now he is telling the public, on national television, to take this drug.

If you or I did that, we would be sued.  Doctors and people who really do know something are cautioning against it.  One man has already died as a result of taking the drug.  Trump says, with cameras rolling, “What have you got to lose?”  Um … perhaps our lives?  Apparently on Saturday, Trump and the real expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, got into a rather heated “discussion” about Trump touting a drug for which there is no evidence it will work against the current pandemic.  Trump sycophant Peter Navarro said, in response, that “Doctors disagree about things all the time.”  Um … yeah, maybe, but only one of the two in question is a doctor.  Donald Trump isn’t even a human, let alone a bloody doctor!

In Trump’s ego-trip that some are calling a press conference on Sunday, a reporter asked Dr. Fauci for his thoughts about the effectiveness of the anti-malaria drug in treating coronavirus patients, and Trump interrupted before the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases could answer. “He’s answered that question 15 times,” said Trump, which was an outright lie, but what’s new, right?

So, in essence, We the People are not to be allowed to hear the truth from the experts, but will be fed the passel of lies that Trump in his warped mind has made up.  A word to the wise, do not bother to watch his pressers and for Pete’s Sake do not take his medical advice!  He is not a doctor, but a circus clown!  But wait …

A pastor in Fairland, Oklahoma, Curt Landry, told his congregation to listen to Trump’s advice over that of experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci, because Trump has “God’s authority.”  SAY WHAT???

curt-landry“I am not a scientist, I am not a doctor, and I do respect [Fauci’s] knowledge, I respect where he comes from, and I respect him in his position that God has put him in. But in the order of spiritual alignment, Donald J. Trump is the Cyrus above him … As believers, we need to agree—I believe that God puts kings and leaders in their place, I believe God has put Donald Trump in his place as a Cyrus—and we need to agree with what he’s saying.”

Fool!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

You’ve all heard of the concept of ‘separation of church and state’, right?  Well, for three years now, Trump has been trying to erase that line of separation, largely to appease his evangelical base who want the laws of this nation to align with their own narrow-minded religious beliefs in such areas as women’s rights and the rights of the LGBT community.  But now … guess what?  Part of that $2.2 trillion bill that was passed last week to help people suffering financially because of the coronavirus pandemic is going to be used to … wait for it … help churches pay the salaries of their pastors!

Yep, folks, even if you don’t attend a church, are not religious, are a non-believer, your tax dollars will be used to help support specific churches!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  One more corner of the U.S. Constitution burned to a crisp.

This country, the U.S., is not the country I grew up in.  It is not the country that gave us such great men as Martin Luther King, John and Bobby Kennedy, and so many others.  I no longer recognize nor respect this country.  It is no longer the country where we were told that ‘all men are created equal’.  This is no longer the country that adheres to the words on the base of the Statue of Liberty …

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

This is a country filled with bitterness and hate, with racism, misogyny, homophobia, Islamophobia, and most any other ‘phobia’ you can think of.  It is no longer a nation that I recognize, or that I can respect.  It is a nation burning itself from within.

  1. It will be interesting to see that if this drug does not work, and actually causes harm, how Trump will wiggle his way out of his recommendations? On the other hand, if it does turn out to be effective, we will never hear the end of it…

  2. This requires further research, but apparently some ppl do benefit from the drug combo hydroxychloroquine + Z-pak. I’ve read about a dozen headlines of ppl thanking Trump for recommending the combo, they miraculously recovered from imminent death. The most recent case, Democrat Congresswoman Karen Whitsett, D-M.I., is personally thanking President Donald Trump for saving her life.

If this story is true, then I’ll give credit where it’s due. Good on Dumpty for actually helping ppl in times of need.

  3. I probably already said this, as I can’t remember what comment I said where, but there are 320,000 Protestant and Catholic Churches in the US. All are closed but 10%. That is 32,000 churches still open…I have no words for this kind of stupidity.

Also read on a blog I follow some speculation about there already being an experimental vaccine that trump probably has already gotten and that’s why he is not worried. Notice at his press conferences, they all stand together and none have gotten this virus. Actually the two doctors do stand apart now, but not trump, Pence, Barr or Pompeo if they are there.

    • Trump is an insider so i wouldn’t be surprised that he got the vaccine for his family and inner circle. There were rumours that Trump strong armed a German pharmaceutical company with billions to gain exclusive patent for an experimental vaccine. Then mysteriously the story was squashed, if he did get it you can be sure only the wealthy could afford b/c he’ll charge up the wazoo, greedy bastards.

    • I find it amazing that in this country, we cannot go to the library or book store to gain knowledge, kids cannot go to school to gain knowledge, but people can go to church to be told myths. It speaks volumes about our culture.

      • Yes this religion is a very big and dangerous problem in this country. You see none of this kind of stupidity in Europe. I just don’t get it

        • You’re right … religion is much less domineering in Europe … I’m not sure why or how the ‘evangelical’ movement got its start here or how they became such fanatics. Something to look into, I suppose

  4. I think we can both agree that it’s time to jump ship… AHOY, iceberg dead ahead! Trump may just declare himself emperor for life, who would oppose him come Nov. 3rd? We have no viable candidate to defeat him, geriatric Joe can barely finish a sentence let alone debate.
There’s talk of the Democratic Party replacing old Joe with Andrew Cuomo! That’s how desperate the situation has become.

  5. As far as I’m concerned, politics is nothing more than organized stupidity. I’ll listen to the medical experts, for any medical treatment I need. But if I ever need advice on how to put on a dog-and-pony-show, I might lend Trump my ear. He’s damn good at that, in my view.

  6. Jill, “God’s Authority?” OK, according to the Bible of Trump:
    – it is OK to feel up dozens of women in public because they let you get away with it
    – it is OK to walk in on teen beauty pageant contestants while they are changing because you sponsor the event
    – it is OK to refuse to pay for service routinely claiming bad service because it is OK if the provider goes bankrupt
    – it is OK to discriminate against African-Americans with your properties, even after judge tells you to stop
    – it is OK to rape your wife (as testified in court) if you were angry with her for getting a bad haircut from a referral
    – it is OK to repeatedly lie
    – it is OK to berate and bully people who are critical of you
    – it is OK to extort people for personal gain, even if it is another country
    – it is OK to condone hatred toward other groups
    – it is OK if it helps you get elected, even if people get hurt by your decision.
I just want to know which Ten Commandments I need to follow.

    • Indeed, there seems to be a disconnect between the values of the religious right and the lack of values of Donald Trump, which is why I find it so puzzling that they can turn a blind eye. A double standard for certain, none of which makes any sense whatsoever.

      • The religious right and even some mainstream religions in this country care about two things only. Abortion and gay marriage. I mean they are obsessed by it…totally.
So they don’t care about this virus or who dies, they don’t care about all the vile things trump does and says and the horrible way he treats people. They don’t care how stupid he is, how corrupt, how insane.

He is their means to an end.

Isn’t it sad and ridiculous that in America, our Christian types of religion are like something out of the dark ages, compared to Europe and other countries.

  7. Trump is the antiChrist, the killer of Nations only not the Nations you’d expect. He’s steadily eroding the values of America, breaking or changing the Laws of America, encouraging the dark to emerge from their holes in triumph and take the lives of the innocent, he has directly told people to take take an untested drug for Malaria which has cost one life.Votes for Trump in November will hasten the death of America and lose a way of life that may never be regained,

    • I begin to wonder if the values of this nation weren’t already mostly eroded and he just stepped in to finish the job. Oh, turns out he owns stock in the company that makes that Malaria drug … what a surprise, eh? If this nation votes for Trump again in November (if we even have an election in November), I will personally declare the United States to be dead, for the damage he is doing is irreversible and fatal to the democratic-republic this nation once was. Sadly, about 40% of the country are too ignorant to see that they are merely pawns in his game. Sigh.

  8. Not to be cruel, but if the Trumpians choose to drink the hydroxychloroquine KOOL-AID, let’s hope they make their Cyrus drink it with them. If it works, it will be a MIRACLE!

  9. Our churches have shut. We have a few too many ignoring the advice. Our collective act of stupidity was the government and the authorities allowing a major horse racing festival to go ahead just prior to the shutdown. At the time experts were shouting that this was madness but money talked and it went ahead. Now case after case is linked to it.

    • Here, the oaf in the Oval Office, convinced by his right-wing fanatical evangelical supporters, declared churches to be an “essential” service, therefore they may stay open. ESSENTIAL??? WTF??? Sigh. We’re not allowed to go to a library or bookstore where we might expand our knowledge, but can go to a church to have fantasy shoved down our throat. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Yeah, I heard about the horse racing festival … it’s the same principle … money. Sigh. Have you found us those desert islands yet?

      • Here there has been hardly any kickback from the churches. They have embraced things like online services. What has gone wrong with America. It’s as if Part of the country has left its brain besides Trumps wall. We are not exempt though we still get the few who decide essential exercise is sat on a beach sunbathing in groups.

        • Yes, fully half this nation seem to have sold their brains and have fallen prey to the brainwashing of Donald Trump and Fox News. The religious right are off their bloody rockers, and half the nation actually worships wealth. Sigh. Oh, we have the sunbathers here, too. What bugs me, though, is the people cowering in their homes, self-imprisoned, and afraid to even step outside for a breath of fresh air. One cannot live in a bubble … common sense and balance seem to have flown the coop.

          • That is a worry. Here the media and government are trying to find scapegoats. Premier League footballers and those going to second homes are the current targets. Ok footballers get paid a lot of money but what about the billionaires – not a mention. And second homes for some are ok. Nothing is said when royalty and the likes of Richard Branson use their second or third homes these days.

            Liked by 1 person

            • It’s much the same here … they always have to find someone to blame. Trump finds new targets almost daily … and unfortunately the media feels compelled to report his every word multiple times, which keeps everyone on edge. And still, he’s trying to give even more tax cuts to the billionaires … this nation is already some $25 trillion in debt, the business of the country is shut down, so there is no revenue coming in, and he wants to give his wealthy friends even more??? Where’s the logic? But a question … why the Premier League footballers??? What the heck do they have to do with it? Sigh. Nuts … the whole world has gone nuts!
