Snarky (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) Snippets

How many more times must we be embarrassed … nay, humiliated … by the ‘man’ in the Oval Office?  The latest …

Just call on Dr. Trump …

As you likely know, Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was hospitalized on Sunday after battling coronavirus in isolation for ten days, when he took a turn for the worse.  Since Monday, he has been on oxygen.  While not a fan of Mr. Johnson, in comparison to our own evil despot he is nearly a genius, so I am certainly hoping for his recovery.  Enter Dr. Trump …

Continuing on his previous myth that he is a “stable genius”, knows more than all the experts in the world, and so forth, he decided to help PM Johnson …

“We’ll see if we can be of help. We’ve contacted all of Boris’ doctors, and we’ll see what is going to take place, but they are ready to go. We’re working with the [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] and everybody else, but we are working with London with respect to Boris Johnson.”

More than 435,000 cases in his own country, nearly 15,000 deaths, Trump having not a shred of medical background, and he’s going to help Boris???  Now you’ve got to really feel sorry for Boris!  It would be funny, except this is a person who is supposedly the leader of a nation of 330 million people, and he obviously has the mentality of a four-year-old child!  Please, people, vote this asshole out!  Meanwhile, our apologies to both Prime Minister Johnson and the good people of the UK … we will try to keep him on a shorter leash.

The pot calling the kettle …

On Tuesday, at his dog-and-pony show, Trump criticized the World Health Organization (WHO) for a slow response to the coronavirus (note the hypocrisy here?) and then claimed …

“We’ll be looking into that very carefully. And we’re going to put a hold on money spent to the WHO. We’re going to put a very powerful hold on it and we’re going to see.”

I do wish he wouldn’t say “We”, for really, most of us are not part of, nor supportive of, those things he says we are doing.  It gives the wrong impression, makes us all look just as ignorant as he is.  Anyway …

16 minutes later he was asked if it was really such a good idea to freeze WHO funding in light of the current pandemic, and he said he didn’t say he was going to.  Challenged, he replied …

“No I didn’t. I said we’re going to look at it.”

No, he didn’t … he plainly said, for all to hear, and captured on tape, that he is going to freeze funding.  How in hell much stupidity can fit into one body?  Well, it is a rather large, flabby body.

Trump isn’t the only idiot …

Ol’ Jerry Falwell Junior seems to be in competition with Trump for Idiot of the Year Award!  According to an article in Politico …

“Jerry Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, said on Wednesday that arrest warrants had been issued for journalists from The New York Times and ProPublica after both outlets published articles critical of his decision to partially reopen Liberty’s campus amid the coronavirus pandemic.”

Say WHAT???

Since when is it a crime for a reporter to make a critical statement???  YO, Falwell!  Ever hear of the 1st Amendment right to “Freedom of the Press”?

“Falwell and Liberty, one of the most high-profile evangelical schools in the country, have come under fire for welcoming students back to campus after the school’s spring break despite the pandemic, while nearly every other college in the country has ordered students off campus.”

Falwell is an asshole extraordinaire, and not surprisingly a big fan of Donald Trump, one of those idiots who claim “god sent Donald Trump” to fulfill some nefarious mission.  And like most everything else happening today, it would be funny, but … the press is our last bastion against a full-blown dictatorship.

“Both articles by the Times and ProPublica quoted students or professors who suggested that social-distancing guidelines, designed to prevent the spread of the highly transmissible virus, were not being adequately practiced on campus.”

Falwell is risking the lives of people, and risking the very core of our freedoms, our rights.  Somebody seriously needs to remove this bozo from society!  Surely there is a prison cell and an orange jumpsuit with his name on it just waiting?

Need a little something lighter to finish up?  How about Seth Meyers bringing you “the kind of story we need right now”?

  1. Mr. Trump has and will continue to attempt to deflect responsibility for his abysmal failures on addressing and implementing adequate response to Covid-19 onto anyone and anything that he can. WHO is just his latest target. Sadly, most or many that obtain their news from Fox and OANN will believe their messiah’s message! Jerry Falwell Jr., there is an acorn that didn’t fall far from Falwell Sr.’s tree, both nuts…meant in the most uncomplimentary way, but still more generous than is deserved! Thank-you!

    • You’re right … he’s blamed the democrats, China, his own impeachment, and now WHO. I wonder ‘who’ will be next. You’re also right that the bigger problem is the number of people in this nation who aren’t capable of thinking for themselves or recognizing the lies he tells as lies. They are the ones who brought this abomination into the Oval Office, and who are trying very hard to sacrifice the entire nation just to keep him there. In my book, Falwell and his ilk are the ones who belong in jail for spouting falsehoods that are costing lives. Sigh … but what do I know, right? Hugs my friend!

    • How could anybody not be grinding their teeth … I think the dentists will do a great business for a year or so after this! My pleasure on the Seth Meyers … we really do need a bit of light in the midst of all this darkness.

  2. Poor Boris. If anything is going to put him over the edge, it’ll be Dr. Trump at his bedside.
It seems strange to me that at a time when the whole world is going through a pandemic, there is talk of defunding the World Health Organization. Couldn’t Trump wait until healthier times to bring up a subject like that?

    • Yes, I would wish to die if I wakened to see Trump anywhere near me! But as to the issue of WHO funding … you have to remember that we are not talking about a sane, normal person with a conscience here. We are talking about a person whose ego drives his every decision. I imagine that cooler heads will ensure the U.S. continues paying their portion of funding for WHO, but Trump’s bluster is counter-productive. This is exactly why none of our allies trust us any longer.

  3. Jill, I wrote a post this morning with a two word title “Stupid question.” This question boggles my mind, how the US president could followed a path that would have helped Americans in January and made him look more like a leader. And, yet with the ball on the tee, he whiffed. Instead, he followed a path of deceit and downplaying, which actually has harmed Americans. Now, he is spending so much time trying to paint over his lies and blaming others. If he had done the right thing from the outset, the unseemly CYA efforts would be unneeded. Why is the truth so hard for this White House resident? Keith

    • Thing is, Keith, that Trump has a part of his psyche missing and is not capable of putting anything or anyone ahead of his own ego & interests. I think he honestly believed he could will the virus away, that if he said it wouldn’t come here, it wouldn’t come here. He is not a sane nor normal human being, so we must stop expecting sane behaviour from him.

  4. Well, Trump lost it a long time ago, this we all know. Our biggest hope and challenge is for EVERYONE to get off their butts on Nov 5th and vote BLUE. Make it one massive tidal wave across the country to kick out all the Russian Repugnant enablers of this disaster named Trump and Two Yr old Tyrant Trump.

    • I agree … but November 3rd, not 5th! Trouble is, there are still far too many who think Trump is the answer to all their troubles, who still applaud his every move. But, if everyone who is eligible to vote will get off their butts, you’re right, Trump will not have a chance, for his followers are still a minority.

  5. I can’t understand anyone not liking the sound of bagpipes. I’m not sure what he played was really appropriate for St. Patrick’s day but maybe something by The Corrs.I hate Trump with a vengeance and would like to see him forced to tell the Truth for 24 hours., Now I wonder where that idea came from.

    • Hmmmm … then I won’t tell you that the sound of bagpipes make my elbows hurt. I bet he is physically incapable of telling the truth for 24 hours. Or even 2 hours. No idea where that idea came from 🤪

  6. General Note–It took approximately 84 days from the official onset date of Jan. 10 this year for the number of cases to hit 1 million. It has taken only 7 days to hit the next 1/2 million. By this time next week, where will we be?
And what is happening in North Korea? Who else (Russia?) is fudging their numbers? We are only 3 months into this pandemic, so we are nowhere near its peak. Can you imagine if most of the world was NOT social distancing what those numbers would be? I cannot.

    • All you say is true, and important. But, what I am imagining right now is the world … or at least the U.S. … a year from now when all those people who were so wrapped up in being afraid of catching the virus and maybe even dying, wake up to find that there was no election, that Donald Trump in essence declared himself to be the “supreme leader”, and nobody even noticed for they were too damn busy living in fear, cowering in their homes, and cooking new recipes while drawing tic-tac-toe on the window panes. Sigh.

      • Something has to give, but lett us hope at least the electricty keeps flowing. With any luck major water supplies will get cleaner. The air didn’t take long to start getting cleaner. The oceans, well, I cannot ever see them recovering.

        • Somehow, I doubt that anything will change in terms of people becoming more environmentally aware and responsible. Once they can go back to their jobs, to shopping, to dining out and attending social events, the environment will once again be forgotten and they’ll be driving their gas-guzzling SUVs (Trump has ordered a reduction in fuel emissions standards), throwing their plastic bottles and bags wherever they happen to be, etc. No, I see little hope for the oceans unless all nations contribute to a massive cleanup effort, and we both know how well that would work. Sigh. 😥
