Hmmmm … seems like maybe the U.S. is lagging behind even ‘third-world’ countries in managing the pandemic! Thank you, Gronda, for this enlightening post! Meanwhile, the U.S. needs some real leadership — something that has been sorely lacking for almost four years!
Remember when Donald J Trump was spouting off about sh*thole countries in places like Africa and how his GOP cronies in the US Congress were mum as he vented on these racist leanings.
See below links to reports regarding how the leader Macky Sall of one of the president’s sh*thole countries, Senegal with extremely limited resources, has successfully contained the spread of the COVID19 pandemic within his country. It has become evident that the White House can’t even begin to measure up to the leadership of one of his listed sh*thole countries to contain/ prevent the spread of a coronavirus within the USA.
Recently, President Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in a CNN interview with its host, Jack Tapper, blurted out a truth many of us had been suspicious about for months, “We are not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we…

I read the original post. So many countries have been doing their best to curb COVID-19. There are countries like Barbados and Liberia that have low infection and death rates for example.

It is a damn shame that the nation with such vast resources has failed … epochally failed … to even keep up with third word nations in protecting its citizens. And we are headed on a path of further destruction as our “president” refuses to acknowledge the facts.

Yeah, seriously. I’m not a fan of the term “3rd world”, but I get what you’re saying because they’re at least putting an effort even with their own issues. Going back to Senegal, you have a nation that’s on the African coastline and has tons of beaches that tourists visit. However, you don’t see a lot of Senegalese crowding and violating social distancing. Good point about the “president”.

Agreed … perhaps non-industrialized nations would be a better way of putting it. But either way, the point is the same … countries with far fewer resources than the U.S. has have done a heck of a lot better job at managing this pandemic. Thanks, Ospreyshire!

That’s fine and it didn’t hurt your point at all. What does it say that countries with less financial capital than America seem to be curbing COVID harder? No problem!

It says, I think, that this nation puts the profit of a few over the lives of the people.

It’s not the only thing we are behind in. Not at all.

Oh no, not by a long shot! It is the most immediate concern, but there are others waiting in line, such as climate change, women’s rights, civil rights, international relations, to name just a few of the many.

To quote Eric Burdon, who was quoting someone else at the time, “And the bell tolled on” — The Black Plague, from Winds of Change.

Sigh. Likely an astute reference. Ask not for whom the bell tolls …

It must be one of the great equalisers of the World, as one shithole country rises from it’s base, another shit loses control of his country and drags it down to the level of the basest Republicans in Florida.

No need to blame it on Floridians, there a TrumpDicks everywhere. There are people all over Canada who would vote for him if they could. No one place has a monopoly on stupidity.

I cannot help but wonder, though I shan’t be here to see it, what this nation will look like in another ten years? Sigh.
