Ohio Realist is one of the co-founders, along with Jeff aka Brookingslib, of On the Fence Voters. For the past year or two, he has been limited in the time he has to contribute, but today he has written a very important post for any who have not yet voted, are undecided as yet, or who have a plan to write in a fictitious name. Please read his words and take them to heart. Thanks, Greg, for this timely reminder and appeal!
If this photo represents how America seems to you, use your power as an American Citizen to change that image. Staying home on Election Day will never help, nor will voting for an unknown or a write-in candidate who has no chance of winning. Wasting your vote will only cede your power to the folks who drive around with banners on their pickup trucks… who will cast their votes, guaranteed. Our democracy will only work as designed if your voice is also counted.
Please…. don’t be On The Fence for the most important election of your lifetime!
Even if your first choice for President didn’t win the nomination and you don’t like either candidate on this ticket, vote anyway. Keep in mind that improving America is a continuous and gradual process and no candidate may ever seem ideal. This won’t be the last election you’ll participate in. Every four years…

Lyrics
Hey, look yonder, tell me what’s that you see
Marching to the fields of concord?
It looks like handsome johnny with a musket in his hand,
Marching to the concord war, hey marching to the concord war.
Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of gettysburg?
It looks like handsome johnny with a flintlock in his hand,
Marching to the gettysburg war, hey marching to the gettysburg war.
Hey, look yonder, tell me what’s that you see
Marching to the fields of dunkirk?
It looks like handsome johnny with a carbine in his hand,
Marching to the dunkirk war, hey marching to the dunkirk war.
Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of korea?
It looks like handsome johnny with an m1 in his hand,
Marching to the korean war, hey marching to the korean war.
Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of vietnam?
It looks like handsome johnny with an m15,
Marching to the vietnam war, hey marching to the vietnam war.
Hey, look yonder, tell me what you see
Marching to the fields of birmingham?
It looks like handsome johnny with his hand rolled in a fist,
Marching to the birmingham war, hey marching to the birmingham war.
Hey, it’s a long hard road, it’s a long hard road,
It’s a long hard road, before we’ll be free.
Hey, what’s the use of singing this song, some of you are not even listening.
Tell me what it is we’ve got to do: wait for our fields to start glistening,
Wait for the bullets to start whistling.
Here comes a hydrogen bomb, here comes a guided missile,
Here comes a hydrogen bomb: i can almost hear its whistle.

Very apt song, my friend. The men who start the wars then sit back and pretend remorse over those they sent out to die. We never learn that there are other ways to solve problems. 😥

This is why folk like me should keep out of the way, with our
‘You started it. Well I’ll make damn sure I finish it’ mentality.
I’m a sinful fellow, right now the mirror image of a Trump supporter. Beware of my kind, we can justify War just like that (snap of fingers)

No, Roger … you are the one who helps keep me sane, who reminds me of the lessons of history, who keeps me from jumping off a cliff. You are the voice of reason and I don’t want you to ‘keep out of the way’ … I want you to keep on being my friend and voicing your opinions. Please?

Oh don’t worry Jill. I will be ‘here’ on this side of ‘The Pond’.
It’s in the USA I should not be, I would be swept up and looking for trouble.
No use at all. It’s ‘Keiths’ and ‘Jeffs’ you need there right now.
As I said I’m best sat here where I can take deep breaths and tell myself to calm down.

Okay … makes sense. I’d rather you stay alive and able to take those deep breaths. 😊

Will do. My family would be very cross with me otherwise.

Yeah.
Want you don’t want thrown into the mix is an angry old left-wing Celt in a nation with lax gun-laws (Gee…. I was only thinking of buck-shot in the ass….I mean like…. ‘what?’…it’s an old custom)…
Sorry about that…Gallows humour must have it’s say in these days.

Ha ha … better gallows humour than outright despair. When I looked at the political cartoons this morning, my thought was ‘gallows humour’, so I guess we’re both on the same trajectory.

I’ll transpose a gallows humour joke which was popular in Berlin in May 1945 as the Russians moved closer (Original: ‘Enjoy the War. The Peace will be terrible’)
‘Enjoy the Election. The Result will be Hysteria’

Makes sense, my friend, since Trump is a threat to the entire globe, not just the U.S. Please keep your fingers crossed that common sense and … right … will prevail this week. Frankly, while I am cautiously optimistic, I am also angry and frightened. Sigh.

Lets hope the best. The only we can do, Jill! Enjoy your week! Michael
