Two Snarky Rants

I have only two snippets tonight, but both are serious.  The first is a threat to the lives of every person in this nation, the second is the single most abominable thing that we have seen in this election cycle to date.

Trump’s advisor doesn’t know … ANYTHING!

Dr. Scott Atlas, the highly UNqualified White House pandemic advisor, proved himself to be an even bigger fool than I first thought.  Atlas did an interview on Saturday with RT (formerly Russia Today), a Russian state-controlled international television network.  He later ‘apologized’, claiming not to have known that RT was a Russian media outlet backed by the Kremlin.  First off, even I know what RT is!  Surely he isn’t that damned stupid, and if he is, then why is he the person advising the Oaf in the Oval on something as critically important as the pandemic???

But what is equally galling is what he said in his interview.  Now, remember that Dr. Atlas is a neuroradiologist, NOT a virologist, an immunologist or a specialist in infectious diseases.  He has zero qualifications to address matters related to the pandemic – ZERO.  And yet, during his 28-minute interview with the Russian media outlet, he uttered such idiocy as …

“It’s tragic. There’s no question about that. But if you wanna know what’s happening right now, I think there’s a gross distortion that has sort of been typical of the reporting on this. And that is that there’s this frenzy of focusing on the number of cases when we see a lot of reasons to be sort of, you know, cautiously optimistic here rather than fearful.

The lockdowns… will go down as an epic failure of public policy by people who refused to accept they were wrong – were wrong, refused to accept they were wrong, didn’t know the data, didn’t care and became a frenzy of stopping COVID-19 cases at all costs.

And those costs are massive. And what’s happening here is that the argument is undeniable. The lockdowns are killing people but they’re not really impactful, the lockdowns.”

Now, while I am not an alarmist and have urged common sense and balance from the very beginning of the pandemic, I am a believer in listening to the experts … and Scott Atlas is NOT an expert in this field!

Contrast that bit of fluff to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s most recent statement …

“We’re in for a whole lot of hurt. It’s not a good situation. All the stars are aligned in the wrong place as you go into the fall and winter season, with people congregating at home indoors. You could not possibly be positioned more poorly.”

Dr. Fauci, who preceded Atlas as the White House pandemic advisor, is in fact an immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984.  The numbers support Dr. Fauci’s statement and make a mockery of Atlas’ …

The U.S. now has at least 9,474,845 cases, the highest of any nation on earth, and 236,473 deaths as of this writing at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Monday. These statistics are the highest of any nation on the planet.  In the past week, the U.S. has broken records for the number of new cases on at least three days.

Atlas is promoting the idea of ‘herd immunity’, which the scientific community has already said and proven does not exist.  It does not exist.  There is no herd immunity, and even if there were, it would mean sacrificing those of us who are immune-challenged, who are older and with pre-existing health issues.  This is what Mr. Atlas is proposing because … wait for it … because it is what Donald Trump told him he’d like him to say.  Trump figured out early on that he could not dictate to Dr. Fauci, so he hired Mr. Atlas to do his bidding.  He might as well have just had Ivanka be his pandemic advisor, for Scott Atlas is nearly as big a twit as she is.

In the words of Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does”

Last Friday, a Biden campaign bus was travelling from San Antonio to Austin, Texas, when suddenly it was ‘joined’ by a group of approximately 100 vehicles, many of them pickup trucks sporting confederate flags and Trump signs.  The vehicles aggressively surrounded the Biden bus and accompanying vehicles in an attempt to slow it down and run it off the road.  Thankfully, neither Joe Biden nor Kamala Harris were aboard the bus, but it wouldn’t have made a bit of difference to these assholes.

Videos showed the vehicles lined up along the freeway in wait for the bus, then speeding up and surrounding it as pro-Trump onlookers cheered and laughed. According to people on the bus, the vehicles slowed and appeared to attempt stopping the bus altogether.  What might have happened if they had succeeded in stopping the bus?  Would they have stormed it and started shooting?  There is no doubt in my mind that every damn one of the people in those vehicles was armed to the teeth.

When the bus reached its destination in Austin, a crowd of Trump supporters surrounded the bus and continued the harassment. Fearing the threats would escalate, Democrats canceled the event in Austin as well as another in Pflugerville, Texas, later that day in the interest of public safety.  This, my friends, is the act of dictatorial hooligans and as far as I’m concerned, they should all spend the rest of their days in prison, for they are attempting to murder this nation.

I honestly thought the people of this nation … even the lowliest of them … were better than this, but obviously I was sorely mistaken.

But the group of fools and idiots isn’t even the worst of it!

Worse yet is that these assholes were so proud of what they had done that they posted about their exploits on social media, but did the police actually DO ANYTHING???  No, they did not.  THEY DID NOT GET OFF OF THEIR FAT ASSES TO DO A DAMNED THING.  But wait … you still haven’t heard the worst of it!

The local yokels may have refused to do anything, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Director Christopher Wray still, for the moment, takes their oath to the nation seriously and announced that they are investigating.  Which set off the HEAD IDIOT in the White House …

“In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong. Instead, the FBI & Justice should be investigating the terrorists, anarchists, and agitators of ANTIFA, who run around burning down our Democrat run cities and hurting our people!

You see the way our people, they — you know they were protecting his bus yesterday. Because they’re nice. So his bus — they had hundreds of cars, Trump, Trump, Trump and the American flag. You see Trump and the American flag. Do you ever notice when you see the other side — I don’t even see much of the other side.”

PATRIOTS????  DID HE CALL THEM … PATRIOTS????

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

feral wolf

Folks … anybody with a half-ounce of education, with a smidge of common sense, knows that this is NOT how a president talks.

Joe Biden’s response upon learning of the episode …

“Folks, that’s not who we are.  We are so much better than this. We’re so much better than this. It’s not who we are.”

THAT  … That is how a president speaks.

I was so incensed over Trump’s asinine words that I had to step away, for I was shaking and had three cigarettes lit at one time!  Donald Trump … is the most disgusting, hideous piece of flesh that I have ever in my life encountered, bar none, and why he was ever created is beyond me.  If he doesn’t lose this election by a significant number of votes, then I wash my hands of this nation and its people.  Done.  I’m done with this horseshit.

  2. These yahoos act like they just crawled out from under rocks. Who the hell do they think they are. Trump doesn’t actually care two hoots about them. If they got in trouble he’d throw them under the bus and say he didn’t know them. They are just there as ego builders. They serve as his background noise. Don’t let them cause you to have a stroke. It isn’t worth it. 😦 — Suzanne

    • I’m very much afraid that this was only the beginning, Suzanne. After that, they closed down bridges and highways in a number of other places, assaulted people going to the polls to vote, etc. Trump is almost certain to call for such groups as his ‘Proud Boys’ and other white supremacy groups to start violence if he loses tomorrow or Friday. I think that the grief over the loss of this nation, over knowing that approximately half of the people in this nation have no souls, no integrity, no concern for others, is what will ultimately lead to my demise. Meanwhile, though, I won’t go down without a fight!

  3. Trump is creating so many problems encouraging people to break the law and do all they can to prevent the other side attending it’s rallies. Sooner or later it will result in a death. If not by running a bus off the road then by one of the Trump foolowers discharging a firearm. The police must act professionally and put a stop to this or have their reputation forever in tatters. Perhaps they should be stood down and the State Troopers brought into keep the peace, or maybe the army. It’s becoming such a backward Country the UN should be brought in to ensure a fair election.

    • The situation continues today as hoardes of Trumpeters are blocking bridges and streets, are assaulting people on their way to the polls, and although thus far nobody has been killed, it’s only a matter of time, for all these dolts are armed and not very bright. I’m not sure if the State Troopers would have the authority to step in or not — I’ll have to look into that one. I fully agree that the UN should be brought in, but last I heard, Trump had cancelled most of their visas. I was pleased today to see an add by a group of veterans saying that they would happily escort Trump out of the White House if he refuses to leave on January 20th. I re-tweeted it on Twitter. Sigh.

  4. I am praying hard today for the soul of this nation, for a change in leadership and an end to the horrible violence and hatred incited by Trump and his family. I asked the same question when I heard about the van incident in Texas and the Trump caravans in NY and NJ. Where are the police? Why are they not arresting these people? If it had been a caravan of African Americans surrounding a van of Trump supporters, what do you think would have happened? Most likely an opposite reaction. It all makes my heart heavy and my mind angry and I just hope and pray to God that we don’t have to endure another four years of this crap.

    • You are 100% correct — if a group of Black people had surrounded a Trump campaign bus, they would likely all be dead or in the hospital today. Donald Trump is the worst thing to have ever happened to this nation, but unfortunately, he is only a symptom of a greater problem — people who would like to overturn the principles on which this nation was founded, the basis for our freedom, and turn the nation into one that is only white, Christian, and male-dominated. Not a country I wish to live in. Sigh.

      • You mean white, lost/broken/hateful Christian, and male-dominated. Trump, the Republican party and their followers have given Christianity a black eye which offends me greatly. I hate that they are holding my faith for ransom.

        • You are so right!!! I am not a Christian, but I understand that Trump has done more to harm the image of Christianity than atheists ever could. Well, perhaps the evangelicals with their bigotry and misogynistic views haven’t helped the rest of Christians’ images either. Though I am not religious, it seems to me that religion should be inclusive, should welcome all and care for all, but we don’t see much of that these days.

  5. Jill, the last picture of the fangs revealing wolf is an apt metaphor for this cornered animal. This president has shown repeatedly he can go lower than any limbo bar. For more than six months, he has demeaned the mail-in voting process and asked the US Post Office leader to make the postal service less effective. He has demeaned doctors, civil protestors, and reporters who dare question his untruthful statements.

What I see is election workers doing their best to get it right. What I also see is the president of the United States sowing seeds of chaos and doubt. He has done this as he will cry foul should the election results go against him. The wolf will start biting people then, with his attorneys and stoked “patriots” as he calls them. He is mad at the FBI for saying what his “patriots” did was not right. “Patriots” is his term for his strident followers who are carrying arms to do his bidding.

I could argue policy all day with this president. He has well overstated and even lied about his accomplishments. But, one thing he cannot overstate is he is a morally bankrupt person who has harmed America and its standing. Keith

    • What’s funny is that wolf in the picture was supposed to be me as I furiously typed at warp speed, growling the entire time! But, you’ve made an apt comparison there, and I fear you are quite right. Regardless of the results of the election, I think we are in for some very turbulent times and I’m fairly certain this nation will not emerge as the same nation it was four short years ago. We will suffer many scars … even more than we already have.

      • Jill, the person in the White House broken every norm for acceptable. Reporters have routinely lamented this throughout this term. Taking this a step further that makes Trump’s words and actions as abnormal. A president must condemn violent action – he eggs it on. Who does that? Keith

  6. Hello Jill. Did you see this from the good doctor?

“I have real problems with that guy,” Fauci said. “He’s a smart guy who’s talking about things that I believe he doesn’t have any real insight or knowledge or experience in. He keeps talking about things that when you dissect it out and parse it out, it doesn’t make any sense.”

And then Atlas, the bad doctor snarled back at Fauci with hashtags and mocked his baseball throw. Sorry to raise your ire level more. Stay well. Hugs

  7. Grumpy is so correct about those 79 days. He will wreck holy terror in revenge.
Have you seen all these incidents of trump trucks surrounding and blocking roads in NJ and NY? This is just the beginning and I saw where no police responded to Biden’s bus. I truly believe many of our police force are infiltrated by white nationalists and would side with trump. I worry about some of the military as well.

But my gut tells me it’s gonna be close and trump will drag it out as long as he can in the courts, law suits etc. etc. that will be his whole focus and I. The meantime the country, the virus and the economy will all go to hell.

We are a dying country and a dying democracy and for that matter, if you look around, a dying world..

Sorry I’m in a very gloomy mood about the future and just glad I’m old..

    • I know, Mary … we are in for some rocky days ahead and I don’t know how we can even prepare ourselves to weather this storm. I’ve managed to stay relatively upbeat until last night, but now my mood is also gloomy. I’m not afraid of what is to come, but I am angry, I am furious, and I wish he had just done the proper thing and died when he caught the coronavirus. Sigh.

      • I wonder if he even had it. No one who has to have oxygen gets over it that fast and is able to do three rallies a day. Maybe his docs are giving him some super duper coke or something. You never know…

I am in a smaller town , so hopefully no big trouble, but it is trump country. I’m mostly angry at the stupid ignorant racist, religious nutcase base. They are totally responsible for this in my view. Yes Trump is their leader and Fox News, Limbaugh and such filth is out there, but come on, just what kind of people are these? I mean really. There is something internal wrong with them. Something psychological wrong with them. And obviously something morally wrong with them.

        • I’ve wondered that, too, but I imagine he did, for a scam of those proportions would be nearly impossible to pull off, I should think.

Yes, my friend, there is something very much wrong with these people … but they think the same of us. I’m like you … I’m glad I’m old, for I don’t know how much more of all this I can endure.

  8. Even if he does lose by a significant number of votes, he’ll still have 79 days to vent his wrath. Those 79 days could make or break this nation. Still looking for a silver lining–anywhere.

    • Yes, this is true and I’m sure he won’t miss an opportunity to destroy as much as he can on his way out. Sigh. At the risk of sounding heartless, his death would have made it all much simpler and safer.
