Being rather in a dark mood for the past several days, I was thinking to play Where Have All the Flowers Gone by Peter, Paul, and Mary. That is, until I realized I have already played the song twice this year, and twice in prior years. Okay, next up came this one by Morris Albert …
Somehow, when this song came to mind I had a feeling it was a Barry Manilow song, and when I found it was by Morris Albert, I was scratching my head wondering who the #$%& Morris Albert was. Turns out that he was born in Brazil and came to the U.S. to study phonology at Columbia University. His only other chart appearance was Sweet Loving Man, which reached #93 US in 1976.
Released in 1974, Feelings hit #6 in the U.S., #3 in Canada, and #4 in the UK.
In 1986, French songwriter Louis Gasté successfully sued Albert for plagiarism on the grounds that the tune was taken from Gasté’s 1957 song “Pour Toi”; Gasté is now credited as the song’s co-author.
Feelings
Morris Albert
Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
Trying to forget my feelings of love
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
Trying to forget my feelings of love
Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms
Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
And feelings like I’ve never have you again in my heart
Feelings, for all my life I’ll feel it
I wish I’ve never met you, girl; you’ll never come again
Feelings, feelings like I’ve never lost you
And feelings like I’ve never have you again in my life
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms
Feelings
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms

Isn’t it crazy when a song was so popular, it pops in your head without warning, yet you never heard of the singer or band that made it famous?!

Jill, good song that was played and covered to death. So, I must confess I flinched when I saw this one. Keith

You’re right about that, Keith. Sorry I made you flinch … I’ll try to do better tomorrow!

Jill, I think it was due to everyone and their brother and sister singing the song on their TV shows . Keith
