Jeff has perfectly stated my own thoughts with this post. I’ve been pondering a similar post for two days, but my temper gets in the way of coherence, so … thank you, Jeff, for putting my feelings into words.
Around 2:30 in the morning on November 9, 2016, Hillary Clinton called Donald Trump to congratulate him and concede the election.
Later that same day, with her husband Bill behind her, and a crowd of her campaign staff and supporters in the audience, she publicly did the same thing. Eyes welling up with tears, she stood there and showed the nation what it’s like to be a patriot. This is how we do it in the United States of America:
“Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans. This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country.”
You battle and fight hard…

Jill, I just typed this on Jeff’s post. I will repeat it here. Thanks for sharing, Keith
As we have discussed, this was highly predicted and predictable. Bill Maher has said for two years, what will we do when Trump won’t leave? John Oliver said earlier in the year, Trump will have to be dragged out of the White House. That was funny at the time. But, when Bernie Sanders said on Jimmy Kimmel’s show a month ago – Trump will claim victory on election night (as he knew the in person votes were counted first), he will sue to stop the counting, and then say the election is being stolen – he was eerily correct.
What is not focused on enough is this is an orchestrated fraud on the American people perpetrated by Donald Trump. He defamed the mail-in voting process, he hobbled the post office, he told his followers to vote in person (as those votes are counted first), he got some GOP led legislators to change the mail-in counting rules, and he hired 1,000 attorneys around the country.
Yes, this is fraud, but it is by the guy who is saying he was cheated. Oh and by the way, claiming fraud by others is straight out of the narcissist playbook – it is called projection. It is a defense mechanism to take the spotlight off your cheating.
His followers are not getting that message. He is not tweeting how he has lost 24 court cases. He is not tweeting about Republican election officials who are pushing back. He is not tweeting why he fired Chris Krebs. He is letting Rudy G blather, waving papers like Joe McCarthy did during the communist witch hunts, saying there is wide-spread fraud. Keith

Thanks, Keith. Yes, we knew … and yet, I don’t think most of us quite realized the lengths to which he would go … at least, I didn’t. He is doing damage to this nation that will last for decades, and if he were truly the ‘patriot’ he claims to be, he would care, but he doesn’t. Sigh. He is also not tweeting about the fact that we are setting new records almost daily for number of new covid cases and number of related deaths. He has, obviously, washed his hands of any and all responsibility to the people of this nation and is now only focused on his own interests. I call it treason.

Jill, I typed a reply on another of your posts. I reached out and thanked Republican Senators Romney, Sasse, and Alexander for their political courage. They need to hear it. If my Senators remain silent, I am going to call them. I posted the email I sent you on their sites last week. These silent Senators are letting a spoiled house guest trash their house. Keith

They are, indeed, letting a spoiled house guest trash the house … OUR house, as it were! And why? That’s what I don’t get … he’s a lame duck now, 59 days left in his term, and whether he believes it or not, he WILL be leaving the White House on 20 January, so what hold does he have over these members of Congress?

It’s startling that I read that 52% of Republicans believe Trump won the election. A large percentage of them won’t accept Biden until BIDEN PROVES that the election wasn’t stolen. Now what kind of amazing shit is that? Of course, this is from the same crowd denying COVID-19 to the death, a school of fish who believe that Giuliani has been brilliant in court this week.
Hugs to the floofs. Cheers

I know, Michael. I read it was 70% of republicans, but heck, even if it’s only 25%, it makes me question where their brains are. Yep, these are the same ones denying the pandemic, refusing to wear a mask because “it violates my civil rights”, and claiming that ‘god’ sent Trump. I suspect there will be a contingent of gun-toting idiots on the streets on January 20th. Sigh. What has happened to the people of this country???
The floofs send floofhugs back, as do I. Try to have a good weekend, Michael.

Well put. Trump has no thought for anyone of either party unless they’re wealthy and an help him. He has to suck it up and go.

Trump would see us all dead and not so much as bat an eye, as long as he had his way. I just want him gone … preferably from the face of the earth, but I’ll settle for out of our government.

Don’t settle for too little, let’s ensure prison figures somewhere.

Too much corruption in both our countries. There are no applicable rules now. One rule for us and no rules for them.

Sigh. Yes, that is so true, my friend … how do we make the changes that would bring some sanity back to our countries. I ponder this tonight and think … our voices no longer matter … our power is null. Sigh.
