♫ You Are The Sunshine Of My Life ♫

The past ten days news has left me in somewhat of a funk, and concern about the next 4 days has taken a toll.  So, when that happens, when I fall into a rabbit hole and can’t find my way out, I turn to my old favourites, usually Motown, for comfort.  And nobody does comfort quite like Stevie Wonder!  I last played this in 2018, so it’s time for a re-visit, don’t you agree?  The dedication I used in 2018 still stands today … thank you all!

Tonight’s song … You Are The Sunshine Of My Life … goes out to all of you, my blogging buddies, the friends who have become my family.  Thank you all for the love you give me every day, and for truly being … the sunshine of my life.

You Are the Sunshine of My Life
Stevie Wonder

You are the sunshine of my life
That’s why I’ll always be around
You are the apple of my eye
Forever you’ll stay in my heart
I feel like this is the beginning

Though I’ve loved you for a million years
And if I thought our love was ending
I’d find myself drowning in my own tears

You are the sunshine of my life
That’s why I’ll always stay around
You are the apple of my eye
Forever you’ll stay in my heart

You must have known that I was lonely
Because you came to my rescue
And I know that this must be heaven
How could so much love be inside of you?

You are the sunshine of my life, yeah
That’s why I’ll always stay around
You are the apple of my eye
Forever you’ll stay in my heart

Love has joined us
Love has joined us
Let’s think sweet love

  2. At first I was wondering why all the white people in the audience. The Polar Music Prize award dinner. I’d be impressed, except I never heard of it before. He deserves a Nobel Prize, if you ask me.

    • Heck, he has won numerous Grammy Awards … 22 by my count, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Civil Rights Museum, being named one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace, and earning a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2014. I have many favourite musical artists, but if you asked me to pick only one, Stevie Wonder would top my list.

      • And he deserves all those awards, and he deserves your choice as your favourite artist. At least he got his Presidential Medal when it meant something, not the farce it is today, thanks to the almost-unincumbent dickhead of a president you still have today. But that was not what I was talking about. The iDJiT wanted a Nobel Prize so bad he was willing to beg for it. Stevie would not beg for one, but to see his name on the list of winners would do nothing to diminish its value, while Trump’s name would tarnish it forever.
On a side note, as much as I love Albert Camus, he did not deserve the Nobel Prize he was given, in place of Kierkegaard, who refused it. It makes me wonder how many others refused theirs, but we never got to hear about it.

        • I can’t imagine Trump ever getting a Nobel Peace Prize, but if he does, it will no longer have any value and everyone thereafter should refuse to accept it. And you’re so right … the Presidential Medal of Honour no longer has any value after some of the very undeserving people Trump has given it to. He had destroyed so much, some of which can never be restored.

          • He has been a blight on so many things. I’m glad Biden is going to rescind the Keystone XL Pipeline extension, but boy is Jason Kenny pissed. He gambled $1.5 billion of taxpayer dollars on Trump winning the election, and now he is running around screaming he is going to sue the USA for cancelling the agreement. Which will go nowhere, but will cost Alberta taxpayers more millions in lawyer and court fees. Just yesterday he had to recall his own order to reopen open pit coal mining in Alberta because of public pressure. Like Trump, he thought he could get away with opening the environment laws to big polluting businesses, and no one would notice. Now his dreams of being an oil baron are crashing around him. And I am loving him running around without a head. His chickens are coming home to roost, lol. All this on top of losing one party elected official for dereliction of service, and having to demote a bunch of cabinet ministers, and fire some public officials he hired, for taking tropical vacations under a travel lockdown, his ratings are getting lower every day.
Mini-Trump is having a larger-than-life public breakdown, just like his southern hero. There is still joy in life. (For now. Unless he calls an early election, which he should be obliged to do considering his ratings) we are still stuck with him for 3 more years, and voters too often forget the bad things by election time.
