The 46th!

Jeff speaks for me, and millions of others, when he recounts his feelings of today’s events. Finally … we can go to bed at night knowing the nation is in good hands, and wake in the morning without immediately grabbing our phone to see the latest ‘breaking news’. Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your thoughts and feelings … they echo my own. And now, you and I have a project to talk about, yes?

On The Fence Voters

We did it, folks. He’s gone for good. On November 3, 2020, over 81 million of us told the 45th President of the United States to get the hell out of our house. Today, we welcome the 46th President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden Jr.

On the drive home today from my walk with our beloved four-legged buddies, I heard the beautiful voice of Lady Gaga singing our National Anthem emanating from my car radio. I couldn’t hold back anymore. The tears started to flow like a spring waterfall in Oregon. It’s as if a massive weight, an albatross if you will, began to leave my body all at once.

The gravity of the moment will live with me for the rest of my life. I felt similar emotions when the election was formerly called for Biden. But this was different. So much has happened since…

  1. For some reason WP won’t let me like or comment directly on Jeff’s post, so I hope he sees this. His sense of relief and optimism is shared by many around the world, not just in your country. And you didn’t have to be American to be moved by the ceremony and what it represented.

    • Well that’s certainly odd … I’ll let Jeff know and make sure he sees your comment. Yes, I think the world breathed a collective sigh of relief when Biden took his oath. Now, let us hope for a brighter future, though there remain dark elements in this country who would deter Biden from his goals if they can. Sigh.

    • Hello Clive. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. If you go to my site for this post, there is an explanation from Nan in the comments section. She had a similar problem and offers a possible solution. Hopefully it explains what may have happened to you. WP is kind of confusing at times. All sorts of things can go wrong. I hope this helps!

  2. Let us welcome in the 45th President of the USA, and in future when anyone says ‘no 46th’. I shall say ‘Legally yes. But morally No. The previous one was a mere occupant of the Whitehouse who got in on a freak vote and then failed to uphold the Oath of the Office,’

    • Thank you, dear Roger. You are so right … we have not had a president for the past four years, but rather an imposter without humanity, an evil imposter. Let us hope that better days are ahead, but it may require the expulsion of certain congressional republicans before sanity is allowed to fully return.

      • Yes, I was reading a depressing little snippet from the ‘Daily Telegraph’ about prospective 2024 GOP candidates all out of the Ted Cruz model (including the fellow himself). These are the professionals; in the grim tracks History takes it was as well Trump got the nomination, if a professional like Cruz had got it, the GOP would have likely won this election.
As Franklin said when asked if there was a kingdom or a republic:
‘A republic. If you can keep it,’
Let no one dare say voting does not matter.

        • I will swear to you here and now that I will not live one day in this country if Ted Cruz becomes president. You and Sheila might wake on morning to find me and the girls and the moggies on your doorstep, baggage in hand! Meanwhile, though, I will do every single thing in my power to expose Cruz for what he is.

            • Yes, it is scary, but I’ve long said that the elements that put Trump in office still exist, and next time they might choose someone just as evil, but smarter and more able to play the game and ultimately destroy this nation. Yep, those who are too lazy or stupid to vote get no respect from me … it’s too damn important!

                Song as warning

                Lyrics
                Hey rainmaker come away
                From that man you know
He’s gonna take away your promised land.
                Hey good lady
He just want what you got
                You know he’ll never stop
                Until he’s taken the lot.
                Gonna stamp out your fire
                He can change your desire
Don’t you know that he can make
                You forget you’re a man
                Gonna stamp out your fire
                He can change your desire
Don’t you know that he can make
                You forget you’re a man
                You’re a man. He’s a man.
He’s gonna step on you again.
He’s gonna step on you again.
He’s gonna step on you again.
He’s gonna step on you again.
Hey rainmaker he got golden plans
I tell you he make you
                A stranger in your land.
                Hey good lady
He got God on his side
                He got a double tongue
You never think that he lie.
                Gonna stamp out…
                Hey rainmaker come away
                From that man you know
