Yesterday was International Women’s Day. I did not write a post on it, though another time I might have. No, I didn’t forget, but frankly it just didn’t feel right to celebrate a day that is about women’s rights, when in this country (and many others) our rights are being chipped away. And then, I came across this …
His name is Stewart-Allen Clark and he is was a pastor of the 1st General Baptist Church, in Malden, Missouri. Here are a few snippets from his February 28th sermon …
“Why is it so many times that women after they get married let themselves go? I’m not saying every woman can be the epic, the epic trophy wife of all time, like Melania Trump. I’m not saying that at all. Most women can’t be trophy wives, you know, like her. Maybe you’re a participation trophy. I don’t know, but all I can say is not everybody looks like that. Amen. Not everybody looks like that, but you don’t need to look like a butch either. Hey, here’s something you need to know. You need to know this. Men have a need for their women to look like women. And sweatpants don’t cut it all the time. Wearing flip-flops and pajamas to Walmart, that ain’t gonna work. Ain’t nothing attractive about that. Men want their wives to look good at home and in public. Can I get an ‘amen’?”
Here is a picture of Mr. Clark …
Wow … I can certainly see why he wants his women to look like supermodels, can’t you?
Mr. Clark has stepped down from his position and is allegedly “seeking professional counseling”. Sorry, but there is no amount of ‘counseling’ that will turn this person into a human being. Any person who considers former nude model and gold-digger Melania Trump to be the standard to which women should aspire needs a lobotomy. How many centuries have we fought against being judged for our looks, but rather asking to be judged for our character, our intellect? Funny, isn’t it, that Joe Biden was criticized for saying that “we don’t need that kind of neanderthal thinking”, and yet Mr. Clark is a dyed-in-the-wool, real-life neanderthal.
There are a number of newbies on the republican side of the aisle in Congress who, in my view, have no business being in Congress. Four that come immediately to mind are Josh Hawley, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Greene, and Madison Cawthorn. Are these four radically racist, gun-toting fools the face of the new GOP? If so, either the GOP or the nation are doomed!
The subject of my wrath today is Lauren Boebert and her gun fetish. You’ll remember that last month, she logged in to a virtual House committee hearing with a virtual arsenal as her backdrop. And she’s the fool who owns a restaurant that encourages servers to have a pistola strapped to their waist as they serve the chips ‘n salsa to their customers. Well, Boebert is under investigation for her possible role in the January 6th attacks on Congress, but the fact that she could be expelled from Congress and find herself wearing an orange jumpsuit doesn’t seem to have penetrated the fog that surrounds her brain. Take a look at her latest video demanding that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “tear down” the fencing around the Capitol. Listen to the gunshot at the end.
This, my friends, is an example of what our country is becoming. Guns have replaced conversation, radicals are being elected to our lawmaking body, and nearly half the nation finds this ‘acceptable’. The fencing and razor wire are there to protect members of Congress in light of continued threats by right-wing white supremacy groups who have threatened another attack on the Capitol when President Biden addresses a joint session of Congress, date not yet determined.
Boebert has no committee assignments, and neither does Ms. Greene, therefore they literally have no work to do, and yet they are drawing a salary of $174,000 per year, paid for by you and me. I hope … I sincerely hope that all four of the ones I mentioned are found to have had a role in the treasonous January 6th attacks, that they are expelled from Congress and escorted off the premises and to the nearest jail to await trial.
And on that note, I leave you with a bit of humour …
I suspect that this guy’s already had a lobotomy.

I think you may be right about that! He seems not to realize we are living in the 21st century!

Thanks, JoAnna! You too … easy to stay safe these days, for I rarely leave the house. Sigh.

Same here. Hiking and once a week shopping about it for me on going out. Just thankful that there is so much good nature calling me outside to play. All my best.

I’ve heard that both Boebert and Greene will be getting several challengers when they run again. Greene actually ran pretty much unopposed, as her opponent dropped out months before the election. Let’s hope Jill, that both of them get their asses kicked out for good-either by getting beat in 2022, or, and this would make me very happy: in handcuffs!!

I hope you’re right, my friend. They are not … NOT … the people I want making the laws that govern this nation! They are bloomin’ eejits as our Brit friends would say! Sigh. Yes, handcuffs is good … a firing squad is better! (Forgive me … I’m in a royal funk at the moment)

Well, they both do love guns! LOL

I don’t know what you have, Jill. Isn’t that guy A PICTURE? 🙂 OMG, this is so, so, so bad that I can’t believe this is true…. If that wasn’t bad enough, he’s actually asking God’s blessing?! Does he know that AMEN means ‘so be it’?! That’s blasphemy on a pretty high level.
And then that woman! You truly have the great and the lowliest of them all – and you have every reason to be as snarky as can be!

Oh I know, my friend! I looked at him, read his words, and wondered just who the heck he thinks he is??? Even if he were an Adonis, he would have no right to talk like that! And yes, we have some real idiots in Congress this year. Sigh. I’m truly beginning to fear for the future of this nation … I think we have lost our collective minds! Thanks, Kiki, for the snark is likely to keep on coming … it wakes me in the middle of the night, just begging to be let out!

If you don’t accept a women as equal partners in the whole Life Thing, you are not a true man, just a weak male who takes a tape measure with them whenever they go into the bathroom.

I do so fully agree! This “pastor” set my teeth on edge and made me want to bash him over the head with my rolling pin! Rather like the one a year or two ago who told a woman who was going to divorce her abusive husband that she ought to go home and be a better wife to him! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Oh to be able to meet these lesser males, seated in a room with my daily cup of coffee, take a sip and say, calmly.
‘Not much of a man. Are you?’ sip ‘Hardly one at all in fact,’

A lesson learnt from the gentleman in charge of an office I worked at.
I had made a rookie mistake, and was not aware I had made it.
Until….
He called me in, reminded me of the action I had taken, looked over his glasses at me, sighed and said, very quietly
‘Jacob. Whatever possessed you to do that?’

Sigh. I’m sorry, my friend … that’s just the nature of a political blog, though this one didn’t start out with the intention of becoming a political blog. Sigh. Thanks, Bee … I’m admittedly down right now, but seeing you drop in has brought a smile to my face. 🙋♀️ ❤

Jill, oh my. Maybe the women in the congregation should have stood up and walked out on the minister. Really? This theme appears in a fun post I just uploaded. Women tend to take care of themselves, in general, as they work at it. Count the number of female joggers vs. male ones when driving down the street. Keith

I certainly would have gotten up and walked out, and not silently, either! I likely would have called him … well, never mind, use your imagination. Some women do … I walk four miles a day when the weather (and my body) allow it. Some don’t, but it isn’t some preacher’s place to tell women that they must look like Melania Trump in order to keep their husbands happy! My goodness … this thinking comes from the dark ages! Sigh.

I find it really scary that American citizens can vote a rabid lunatic like Boebert into a position of power. It speaks volumes about how far the GOP and its supporters have sunk.

I find it really scary too, and I’m thinking that it speaks volumes not only about the GOP, but about the people of this country. If ignorance is bliss, we must have a whole lot of really happy people … I am NOT one of them at the moment! Sigh. Beam me up, Scottie.

No, my friend, these days it isn’t easy to keep the flames of hope for a better world alive. (And as for Farage, please do NOT send him over here!!! We’ve got enough of our own eejits!)

The acceptance of those 4 into the Republican party gives you a fair idea of just what their standards are, about zero. Still, you couldn’t accuse them of bringing the party into disrepute. The GOP did that with Trump a long time ago.

Agreed. Actually, I think the party did that along about the time President Obama took office and the GOP established their “tea party” movement … based almost solely on the racist notion that a Black man isn’t good enough to be president, so they had to block every bloomin’ thing he tried to accomplish. And then, Trump came along as the “anti-Obama” and won their little dark, shriveled up hearts. Sigh.
