Well, it’s Monday once again, but a different sort of Monday for most here in the U.S., for it is a holiday, meaning the third day of a three-day weekend! Daughter Chris’ band played in a parade this morning – their first live public performance since the start of the pandemic. She found out just how out of shape she’d gotten these past 15 months or so, as I suspect most of us have. So, are you guys enjoying your holiday Monday? I’m afraid we don’t have any funny news stories to start the day out, but we have lots ‘n lots of cartoons and as always, Joyful has been in the kitchen whipping up some special treats, while Jolly did a bit of grilling out back for us! So, grab a snack and let’s start this week out with some smiles, shall we?
What say we start with two cute pictures Joyful found this morning?
And now for some ‘toons to bring a smile or a chuckle …
And a few funny memes that Jolly’s been collecting all weekend …
And what would Jolly Monday be without a cute animal video? I think you’ll enjoy this one about Milo and Cracker …
Well, that’s a wrap for this Jolly Monday, my friends! I hope you all have a wonderful week, and don’t forget to share those beautiful smiles you’re wearing today! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly & Joyful!
Hi Jill! Happy Tuesday! We were away for the weekend in the mountains of NC, visiting my husband’s Grandma and other family. Had a great time. These cartoons are perfect! Caused many smiles and laughs! Thank you for brightening my day with this great post! 😊

Happy Tuesday … er, Wednesday now … to you also, my friend! I’m glad you had a great weekend down in the Smokies! That used to be my favourite place to disappear to for a weekend a few times a year, but haven’t been there since 2008 now! I’m glad Jolly Monday brought you some smiles ‘n laughs!

I am trying, my friend! The week is half over and the worst that’s happened so far is I got wet while feeding the squirrels in the rain today! You keep safe and have a happy week, my friend! xx

I may have smiled…
Once or twice
But today was not a holiday for us
But last Monday was. Nice!

Well, if you smiled once or twice, then it’s good enough. I didn’t realize last Monday was a holiday for you guys … another bank holiday? Glad you enjoyed it anyway!

No bank holiday. The Queen’s birthday! Which queen? Would you believe Queen Victoria? No, not Lizzy. Queen Victoria. Born May 24, 1819. Died Jan. 22, 1901. If you can explain to me why we celebrate Vicky’s birthday, I’ll believe anything you say.

Well heck, we still celebrate the birthdays of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King! Just a way of remembering them, I guess.

I guess, but if we have to celebrate royalty, which I do not do, why not celebrate the current royal. Vicky was a prurient prude. Told her fellow women to not enjoy sex, just lay there and take it for the nation. Made for a lot of unsatisfied men, not to mention making women believe it was their duty. Yuck!

Ahhhh … that ‘splains why the Victorian Era is associated with prudishness.

A gem from start to finish. I want a galah now, who’s got one to spare? Had enough yet Milo?

Well, I checked into buying you a galah, but had to pick my jaw up off the floor and cancel the order when I found that they are $2,000 – $3,000, or £1,400 – £2,100 each! Um … will a stuffed one do for now until I can sell some things to get enough to buy you a real one? Glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday!

Jill, it looks like the bear got into the Mead. He’ll just lay on the picnic table for awhile. Keith

I know!!! I thought that bear looked so ready to be cuddled! Yes, I know he’d likely bite my head off if I tried, but isn’t he so cute?

Jill, have you seen the footage of the teenage girl that pushed bear off a stone wall that was menacing her little dogs? It was not the wisest move, but it turned out to be effective. I saw it yesterday on one of the good morning news shows. Keith

I saw that. As you say, not the wisest. But she surprised the bear, who was not expecting this.

Yes, I saw it! As you say, not the wisest, and I actually felt a bit badly for the bear, since she had her cubs with her! But then, I’d have felt even worse for the dogs if they had been maimed or killed. As for the girl … it’s amazing what humans are capable of when the adrenaline kicks in!

If you laughed, then I am happy! I make people grit their teeth all week, I figure the least I can do is start the week out making people laugh! Have a great week ahead, John!
