Good {yawn} Monday morning, my friends! Sometimes it’s hard {yawn} to get back into the groove after a {yawn} long weekend, isn’t it? What’s that you say? It wasn’t a long weekend? Maybe not for you, but for me it was. First, on Friday afternoon a water main at the top of our street burst and we were without water for about 12 years hours. Then on Saturday, granddaughter Natasha and I had to go for the first jab of our coronavirus vaccine. That turned out to be no big deal at all, but I had spent days and sleepless nights dreading it. And then Sunday was the day I’ve dreaded for the last 20 years … my 70th birthday. My gorgeous girls and a two very special friends across the pond, David & Yvonne, went all out to make it a special day and indeed it was! However, no matter how much fun, how much delicious food and absolutely delightful gifts, ultimately enough celebrating is enough and it’s time to return to the daily grind. Hence, after these past three days, I am exhausted and feel like I could sleep for at least a week! Now that I’ve told you about mine … how was your weekend?
But now it is time for us to begin a brand new week, so let’s see if we can kick it off with a smile, shall we? Grab a snack and a cuppa something from the table and we’ll go in search of a laugh or two.
I put Jolly in charge of finding the ‘toons this week, so let’s see what he’s come up with …
And we have just a few funny signs …
And a few memes to make you laugh, or at least chuckle …
And of course we cannot let you go out into that cold, cruel world without first warming your heart with a cute animal video! This is one I stumbled across a week or so ago and I’ve been saving it to share with you today … it’s guaranteed to make you laugh! You’re going to just love Moya!
Well, my friends, the time has come … I have a load of Goose’s clothes in the washer and a basket full of dirty towels waiting in the wings, so I really must get to it! I hope you all have a wonderful (or at least tolerable) week ahead and remember … share those smiles, and if you run out, there’s a basketful by the door!!! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly and Joyful!

Arrgh!!! Trust me to be very late for this post.
Very belated birthday wishes Jill.
So now you’ve just begun, what are your plans?

No worries, my friend! You’re not that late, after all! And thank you for the birthday wishes. My plans??? Um … take life one day, one hour at a time and try to survive in the chaotic world that surrounds me. Good enough?

Hey, that’s our plan too.😀

I admit … I didn’t read your entire post and just skipped right down to the cartoons. Shame on me.
Soooo … happy belated!! And don’t give two thoughts to being 70 … just consider that there are some of us who have been around a few (or more) years longer than you.
P.S. I’m a day late because I was sick on Monday. Yuk!

I think most people skim over my little ditty and head straight for either the food or the ‘toons!
Thank you, Nan, for the birthday wishes! Now c’mon … I know you’re not older than me!
Sorry you were sick Monday, but I hope all is well now!

You sent the right number. Millie and Halvie didn’t want any. But I think SiSi indulged too much. She is racing around like a kid on a sugar high.

Oops … I should have put a bit of catnip in hers, but then if you or Gail had accidentally eaten that piece, you guys would have been rubbing against the furniture and purring!

We do that anyway. But SiSi is still too young to have catnip affect her. She watches the older cats groovin’ on the green weed, but she doesn’t understand yet.

I’ll get Gail to text you a picture. She is growing fast, and has a gorgeous tail. But she is hell-on-wheels when it comes to doodads, knick knacks, and houseplants.

She is. And we love her, despite she is having the Terrible Threes, after already having had the Terrible Twos. There was some truth in the meme about cats and plants, we have had to re-pot a few since SiSi arrived. The rest know better. She will learn too.

The only houseplant that has survived in my house is kept in my bedroom where the door is always closed to keep the cats out (except Pandi who now resides in my bedroom because she cannot get along with any of the others). Yes, she’ll learn … or else you will! 🤣

Happy Birthday- I’m not far behind you. I remember quite a few years ago saying I can’t believe I have just been to a friend’s seventieth birthday party – then a few years ago saying I can’t believe I have been to a friend’s eightieth birthday… The other day my daughter said ‘I’ll be forty next year’ and I replied ‘but you’re not 39 yet ( November ) don’t look that far ahead! Love the elephant video, nothing like a baby elephant to make you feel young and keep you on your toes.

Thank you, Janet! Age is relative! I remember when I was in my 20s, we had a neighbor who was celebrating her 50th birthday, which at the time I considered to be ancient! I said to her, thinking nothing of it, “Wow, Pauline, you’re very well preserved for your age!” Fortunately she laughed and we remained friends until she moved to Mexico a few years later! And now … my own daughter just turned 50 last October, so see … your daughter is still a spring chicken! I’m glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday and the baby elephant! Have a wonderful week ahead!

I mis-worded that! I think I’ve celebrated my last birthday milestone … don’t expect to see 80, but I’ll probably do as you say, start thinking of others and try to hang around a few more years, at least! Heck, I’ve done really well, since when I was born, my parents were told to prepare for the worst, that I wouldn’t likely live to see my 1st birthday! 🕯️

Thank you so much, Clive! No, I don’t imagine your granddaughter is anywhere near my age! I’d guess maybe 16?

Actually, she was 3. Both I and my daughter were into our thirties before we started families.

Awwwww … such a fun age! Mine will be 27 in November, and my daughter just turned 50 last October … now if that doesn’t make me feel old! I used to think 50 was close to ancient!

You clearly started your family much younger than I did! My daughters are 35 and 29, just the one grandchild so far, but a second on the way.

Ah yes … I was so eager to get away from my parents that I jumped right out of the frying pan and into the fire at age 18. That marriage lasted 15 years and produced 3 children, the youngest died in 2019. Daughter Chris is now 50, and she waited until she was 24 to have my only biological grandchild, Natasha. Congratulations on the one on the way!!! How exciting! When is he/she scheduled to arrive?

Terribly sad about your youngest, that just shouldn’t happen.
Our new one is due in early December. If the parents know the gender they’re not telling, for now 😊

Thanks, Clive … it wasn’t a surprise, for he was born with a bad heart and severe brain damage such that he never learned to walk, talk, or even feed himself.
Awesome … an early Christmas present!

Yes, good timing, isn’t it!

Yes, looking back, I think that’s why my marriage lasted for 15 years, because I knew I couldn’t do it all alone. As it happened, I and my children ended up homeless for a short period of time, but … everything that happens in our lives is a learning experience, yes?
Perfect timing! I’ll be looking for photos on your blog by mid-December!

Ugh on power being out so long!
I am doing my best to stay awake until 7 and then I can go home and crash in bed! Yay! Worked night shift.
Thanks for yoir cheery post to help me stay awake! 🙂

You did not know because I generally don’t announce my birthday, that way people don’t need to feel obligated to say something nice!
No, not the power, just the water. Water is bad enough, but one time we were without power for 3-4 days, as was the entire town! Now that was miserable!
I don’t know how you do it … a different shift all the time! I’m glad Jolly Monday helped keep you cheery and awake, though, and I hope you’ve gotten some good sleep since then! ❤

Well Happy Belated Birthday but the wishes still mean the same! Sooo glad I know you and can call you a friend! ❤ Love ya! Wishing you a WONDERFUL Year and yay on the vaccine. Hope you don't have any problems with the 2nd one. I was sick with the second one but not real bad and it only lasted 12-24 hours.
OH glad it was only the water. Sorry, half awake when I read that. LOL! I can't do more than 2 night shifts a week, that is my limit!

Almost everyone I’ve talked to has said they didn’t feel well for a day or two after the 2nd one … sigh. Ah well, I’m a tough ol’ biddy, so maybe I’ll be fine!
I don’t blame you! I used to love evening shift (3-11) but an overnight shift … I’d be asleep by the midpoint!

No, I meant Eat Here Get Gas and Worms which appeared as the last one to me, then as I commented, the others arrived. I found the elephant one quite sad as it’s been allowed to grow destructive and that’s a trait it could be difficult to lose.

Oh, I see now! I looked at the last one of the dog salivating over the sky raisins, I was confused, so I thought perhaps you meant the video. I suppose you’re right about that … I hadn’t considered that, only thought the baby elephant was so cute I wanted to hug him!
