This one came straight out of my local news channel and my jaw dropped to the floor.
A local man, Jeffrey Smith, is in the hospital fighting for his life against Covid. He refused to be vaccinated, refused to wear a mask, and so this is where all his naysaying got him. His wife, Julie, asked the hospital to treat him with Ivermectin, the horse de-worming medicine, the latest quack theory among the uneducated. Doctors and the FDA have issued strong warnings against humans taking this drug, for it is made for animals who have a different system than ours and who often weigh more than five times as much as a human. Needless to say, the docs at West Chester Hospital refused the woman’s request to give her hubby this unqualified drug. Funny, he didn’t want the approved vaccine in his body, but he wants this crap that isn’t even safe for human consumption!
This should be the end of this story, right? But nope. Ol’ Julie Smith took her case to court where Butler County Judge Gregory Howard ordered the doctors treating Smith to immediately administer Ivermectin to Smith! Since when does a judge with a law degree, not a medical degree, decide on a treatment regimen for a patient??? Does the doctor now get a chance to rule on the latest murder case? THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!!
I did a bit of background research on Judge Howard, and nothing jumped out, other than that he is active in the local Republican Party, but no surprise there. I bet money that if the former guy were still in office, he’d be nominating him for a seat on the Supreme Court right about now! It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Does the doctor, having taken a Hippocratic Oath that is meant to guide him, have the right/ability to defy the judge’s order? If Smith dies, who gets sued … the doctor or the judge? I’ve asked my daughter, an RN, to ask some of the docs she works for their opinion of this fiasco. I’m betting none of them will be thrilled to think of a judge telling them what to prescribe for a patient!
It’s fake news that rules for some

Incredible! Of course he has a right to refuse his vaccination as he has the right to die of said refusal. But a judge ordering a medical person to literally poison a patient…. I never cese to be amazed by the stupidity and ignorance of some folks.

The thing is, it’s not true. (But there is a campaign to make it sound as if it were true.) 1) The judge didn’t order a doctor what to prescribe (only that having been prescribed by a doctor in good standing it was to be administered); 2) Ivermectin isn’t highly poisonous to people and is a standard of care for other conditions in humans.
https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/therapies/antiviral-therapy/ivermectin/
Recommendation There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin in the treatment of COVID-19.

I think it would have been good for the man to wear a mask. (I can understand his not wanting the vaccine before it was actually approved — and only one kind is currently approved today [which turns out to be the brand I got in April].) However, I don’t think he should be left to die. Plus, the order is to administer; it’s not an order to prescribe. IVERMECTIN IS considered SAFE BY THE FDA; and I’m pretty sure they (or done other major health organizations) changed their stance on its use for Covid to neutral rather than the against that they previously held. Doctors who know much, rather than follow, are aware ivermectin is regularly given to humans for malaria (safely). It is also has an anti-viral effect. It is not inherently a horse drug; it’s propaganda to call it that unless somone literally walked into a veterinarian’s shop and bought a dosage that applies to a horse.

Upon further research it appears Ivermectin is highly effective for the treatment of Covid, which is why big pharma and Fauci are downplaying it’s effectiveness. It has been used successfully as an antiparasitic for nearly 50 years with no side effects when prescribed at the right dosage! Hydroxycloraquine is the drug touted by Trump, which is anti-Malarial.
The science behind Ivermectin is fascinating, it doesn’t kill the parasites or virus directly as a method of action, but rather it strengthens the integrity of cell walls forming a protective shield, so infectious agents like Covid can’t penetrate and infect us. I see that India has started an Ivermectin protocol to drive down the Delta Variant cases, they are returning to normal, whereas in the West, cases are rising exponentially. Perhaps we should all start using Ivermectin as a prophylactic.
“Ivermectin is a drug that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat certain infections caused by internal and external parasites. A Japanese scientist and an Irish-American scientist were awarded the Nobel Prize in 2015 for their discovery of Ivermectin, given the drug’s success at improving the health and wellbeing of millions of individuals infected with river parasites in the poorest regions of the world.”

In fact, the FDA and CDC have warned very explicitly against human consumption of Ivermectin, and recently calls to poison control centers are on the rise as people have begun to experience horrible side effects from taking this drug. I would not advocate just leaving the man to die, either, but sometimes we get what we deserve.

Of course. It’s been used for decades and won a Nobel Prize for services to the health of human and animal kind. There’s plenty of evidence from established US medics, McCullough, Kory et al that it works very well when illness first materilizes. But most effective when used with a combination with other inputs.

Did we need further evidence that stupidity is the biggest threat to mankind on earth? Covid looks like weak tea, comparatively. The guy in the hospital (payment for which I’m sure will come in part out of tax payer dollars) ought to take that crap. If he dies in agony with bone breaking seizures and his liver and pancreas destroyed – well natural selection at work in my opinion. He’s far too stupid to live frankly. That judge? Someone ought to take a long hard look at the qualifications that guy has to be a judge, let alone play a doctor ***koff koff God koff koff** with someone’s life. America is screwed because assholes who ignore scientific fact and sensible advice like getting vaccinated gain popularity through media and have loads of uninvolved folks egging them on, get sick and pull such stupidity further into the spot light. “Judges’ can be bought and paid for, and have no more common sense than a 4th grader obviously. And our leadership? Pfffft. That idiot in charge in the previous four years ought to be strung up. He started the spread of idiocy after all, if not, he certainly added fuel to it. All of this is my opinion only. No offense intended.

I share your opinion 100%. It seems that willful ignorance and Terminal Stupidity are taking over in this country … Fox News has certainly done its part in encouraging and promoting both of these. The question then becomes … how do we turn this around? Short of sending the entire GOP to a remote island somewhere in the Pacific, I am, for once, without ideas. Somehow we must find a way to educate the masses using FACTS, not rhetoric. We have approximately 14 months in which to do that … let’s at least make a start!

This is going to have to be challenged in court. Our court system is based on case law. This azzhole is setting precedent with his ruling. If it stands, it opens a floodgate of similar insanity. We already have enough of that going on right now. I’m thinking this will have to be ruled on in Federal Court as I’m guessing the FDA will be having conniptions about now.

If the cdoctor did as the judge said and the patienbt dies, as seems probable, his heirs would no doubt sue the hospital not the judge. He will only toot his horn if by any chance the treatment worked. The doctor should not obeythe judge as his opinion and knowledge trump the judges all day long.

Turns out the doc was perfectly willing to prescribe the drug, but it was the hospital who said ‘NO’. So now, in my mind, when the patient dies, both the doctor and the judge are co-conspirators in his death. I read last night that calls to the Poison Control Center have increased significantly as people experience horrid side-effects of this horse de-wormer. Duh … who could have seen that coming?

Hi Jill, I’m not a doctor so I can’t say if Ivermectin is the correct course of treatment. Apparently there are thousands of US board licensed physicians administering Ivermectin (off label use) to their Covid patients b/c they claim it’s a very effective treatment.
https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/pharmacy/physicians-prescribing-ivermectin-for-covid-19-despite-fda-warning.html
It turns out that Ivermectin is cheap, effective and the most popular drug used worldwide to treat Covid. There are hundreds of case studies and many testimonials from poorer nations: south america, india, africa whos’ gov’ts sadly cannot afford expensive vaccines to protect their population. So they use what they have, that includes off label drugs like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine.
That being said, I don’t think it’s wise for a judge to determine medical treatment, just like physicians should not prescribe legal advice. However, ppl do have the right to choose their own medical treatment, if the dude in the hospital wants Ivermectin, just go to Amazon and order a tube of horse de-wormer for $10 LMAO. It’ll probably save his life 🙂

“The FLCCC states “Ivermectin distribution campaigns in Peru led to far lower COVID-19 case-fatality rates in those regions with widespread use. Further, large “test and treat” programs conducted by increasing numbers of Health Ministries report up to 75% reductions in the need for hospitalization in Mexico City and massive reductions in mortality in the states of Misiones, Argentina and La Pampas, Argentina”

Sorry, I did not mean “laugh” in a comical way, but as cry, because here is another example of how stupid some people can be. How did the lawsuit ever get to court? How did the judge decide to rule as he did? Why does the wife want to give Ivermectin to her husband in the first place? Only thing I can think of: She really wants him dead, and to die a more horrible death than Covid alone can give him.

Regarding ur questions:
An Ohio judge has ordered a hospital to prescribe a COVID-19 patient with ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug that federal agencies have advised against taking as COVID treatment.
The ruling by Butler County Judge Gregory Howard came after Julie Smith filed an emergency relief order for the use of ivermectin for her husband, Jeffrey Smith, according to court documents.
Jeffrey Smith, 51, has had COVID-19 since early July and has been on a ventilator at West Chester Hospital, according to the lawsuit. The hospital is about 25 miles north of Cincinnati.
Nearly three weeks after he was put on a ventilator, his wife reached out to Dr. Fred Wagshul, who prescribed 30 mg of ivermectin for the patient. Wagshul is a founder of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, which touts ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19.
The hospital refused to give Jeffrey Smith the drug, leading to his wife asking for the emergency order.
“He is on death’s doorstep,” Smith’s attorney wrote in the lawsuit. “There is no further COVID-19 treatment protocol for the (hospital) to offer to Jeffrey; Ms. Smith does not want to see her husband die, and she is doing everything she can to give him a chance.”
The court sided with the Smiths, and the hospital has been ordered to give Jeffrey Smith the prescription.
“West Chester Hospital shall immediately administer ivermectin to Jeffrey Smith in accordance withDoctorFred Wagshul’s prescription, namely 30mg of ivermectin daily for 21 days,” Howard wrote in his order.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health and the World Health Organization have all also advised against using ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19 outside controlled clinical trials, McClatchy News reported earlier this month.
