Good Monday morn, friends!Β Less than two weeks now until Christmas … I’ve done all my shopping online this year, as I’ve not been well enough to go out shopping, and the girls are doing all my wrapping, as well as the holiday baking.Β I’m determined to roast a turkey with all the trimmings for us to share with our dear friends the al-Dabbaghs on Christmas, but more and more I think that may be an unreasonable goal to set for myself.Β Well, I’ve got two weeks to whip myself into shape, so we’ll see.Β But for today, Jolly ‘n Joyful and I have some fun things to help you start this week with a smile, or perhaps even a chuckle or a giggle!Β So, grab a snack and a cuppa something warm to drink and let’s find some fun, shall we?
What say we start the morning with a few ‘toons?
Joyful found a few cute animal pics to share with you …
And Jolly went in search of some funny signs …
My contribution is a few memes that made me chuckle …
And last, but not least, a new cute animal video that I think you’ll enjoy!
We hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Jolly Monday and that we helped start your week off with a bit of a smile.Β Speaking of smiles … please share that beautiful smile you are wearing with others this week … remember that for many the holiday season is not necessarily filled with joy and goodwill.Β Have a great week, keep safe and stay warm!Β Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly ‘n Joyful!
Yeah, I know…..criminally late, no excuses.
Glad to see ‘Monday’ is back though Jill.
Take care, you.

Heck, Roger, I think that ‘late’ has become my middle name! Don’t worry about the ‘when’, as I’m just happy to see you whenever you can visit! I’m trying to take care, but I’m impatient to get my life back! Still, I’m happy to be blogging again … I missed it and didn’t realize how much!

Maybe celebrate a New Year’s dinner instead?

Or … maybe both!!! Christmas dinner of Turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, and our traditional New Year’s dinner of finger foods! Thanks for the suggestion! π

Both would be wonderful…if you can do that.
Best to you, Jill!

Dearest Jill, I ‘only’ had a very quick look and more eruptions of laughter than one wd think possible on Monday eve, when I viewed your welcome post on my phone. Now I’m back in earnest and I have to say, you lot outdid yourselves with this collection. So much to laugh about and to forget the daily stress and sorrows. We are thankfully well and healthy, if not fit and never with enough time to do ‘something for our health’ but hey ho, we’ll all die sometime sooner or later so let’s enjoy the days we have and be as happy as we’re allowed to be.
We managed to fill our Christmas Season to the gills, as I lost my youngest sister (as my mother in law) this year, and my brother split from his long-time gf, we have invited one day my brother and are having a brunch with my bro in law on another day, while also having Christmas Lunch with my mother in her Senior Residence. Then, and I still congratulate myself for this brilliant idea!, on the 27th HH and I take off for 4 nights to a rental place where we can safely take a distance to the hustle and bustle AND can cook if there should again be a lockdown of some sort…. Coming back we’ll visit family further afield and have our traditional Raclette at my brother’s house with ‘only’ the now 3 children & partners plus my mum of her family… a day later it’s back to life B.
Now the ‘nearly usual’ admonition: PLEASE give yourself the time your body needs. I know you won’t listen and you make me think of my little sis, who wanted ‘Γ tout prix’ still do a Christmas meal when she could hardly stand on her two feet for longer than half a minute. It gave her such joy to ‘spoil her dearest’ once more that she HAD to do it…. only she spent Xmas Day and nearly all the rest of her too short life in hospital. I think I didn’t realise at that time that for her it was very important…. Now that I read you I can see that. Which, of course and by all means, doesent suggest that you should die …. far from it! Hence my repeated call out to you: Give your body what it needs…
Many thanks and even more love!

I am SO glad you found some things to laugh about here, dear Kiki! And I am so very sorry to hear about your sister! It sounds like you have had more than your share of family problems of late and I really hope that your mini-vacation for 4 nights will be restful and fun.
Yes, I am trying to find balance, but at the same time, I cannot be content just to sit in a chair all day doing nothing useful. I was becoming very depressed for a while, but now I am beginning to get just a bit of energy and doing a few things, which has given me a much brighter outlook.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, dear friend! Love ‘n hugs! π

Then I’m really glad I posted it! I haven’t visited your blog more than once or twice lately, so I’m not sure what’s the latest with you and Hawklad, but I’ll try to catch up soon. Meanwhile, know that you are in my heart.

These definitely made me smile and laugh, Jill. I hope you gradually build up your strength to where you need it to be. Take care and let others help you. It is nice to see you back.

I’m so glad they made you smile and laugh!!! I’m trying hard to find balance, to do as much as I can without overdoing … not easy for a person who is not known for being patient! π Thank you, Carla!!!

Judging by the wee pile of crumbs left on the cookie plate, it appears that I should have popped in here earlier. No problem as there remains an abundance of goodies which I really should avoid, if not totally abstain, anyway. Coffee with the half & half will suffice my needs if not my wants! It is indeed a gift to find this post amidst my inbox. Jolly, Joyful and Yourself have put together a magnificent Jolly Monday and I am undoubtedly amongst many other appreciative followers. In response to the introductory paragraph : DO remember THIS, pace YOURSELF so as not to wear what strength you have regained down to a frazzled remnant!! Christmas is really not just one day that can only be celebrated on December 25th…there are many other days within the season to share with friends and family. You need not, like many do with their Christmas Tree, throw out the season on Dec. 26th! “I wish that we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.” – Harlan Miller. WHAK!! Thank-YOU!!

Ah yes … Jolly devoured all the chocolate chip cookies before they were even cool! But Ellen … do indulge in at least a bit of fruit or a tiny cookie … it is, after all, the holiday season! We’re happy that you enjoyed this week’s Jolly Monday and hope a certain young man might also get to see it, hence the juice boxes! Oh yes, I’m trying to pace myself, but I’m not known for my patience π. We typically do draw out the holiday season and don’t simply focus on the one day, but this year is a bit hectic, as Chris is working 80-hour weeks and I am largely useless. Still, we are aware that the best gift of all is that we are all together and love each other so much. Still, I do want to make that Christmas dinner! π¦ I LOVE the quote by Harlan Miller and I fully agree! And I love you, dear Ellen! WHAK!!!

I been wondering, Jill? Do Jolly and Joyful do their own laundry, or do you do it for them.
They always look so Spic and Span clean! As for the turkey dinner, celebrate Ukrainian xmas this year, Jan. 7th. Gives you an extra week to recuperate. Maybe Joyful will even make the holubchi and pyrohyr (cabbage rolls and perogies) for you.
Mama doggie with her two pups has figured out nicely how to keep them warm on those long winter nights, hasn’t she.

Oops. An extra two weeks. My mind was only thinking from New Year’s Day till Ukie xmas, not xmas to Ukie xmas. Getting old sucks! Keep getting better. LuL

Yes, getting old definitely sucks, but most days I still think it beats the alternative.

For now it does. But Mother Earth has been getting quite feisty lately. What with volcanoes and tornadoes and floods and fires, she is taking back what once was hers. With Covid icing the cake, who knows how long we have left here.

I strongly suspect that if we don’t start taking environmental concerns such as climate change very seriously and very soon, we (the human species) won’t last past the end of this century. Might be for the best, as we have not been good stewards of the planet.

Stewards? People ste supposed to be stewards? The Bible says we are to have “dominion” over everything, which was exactly what humans did. I think God screwed up. We listened to Him, and now where are we?

Well, you know how I think about all that bible stuff … humans wrote the damn book and did so with their own needs/wants in mind. And today, other humans interpret or translate it to suit their own purposes. But yeah, it seems that if you live in a house, you want to take care of it so that it will remain in good shape, and our care or stewardship of planet earth should be no different, for it is the only … ONLY … planet that can sustain human life. All this space exploration and talk of human colonies in space is bullshit and we both know it.

Yes, Jolly and Joyful do their own laundry and it seems they have only one style of clothing, for other than their pjs, I never see them in anything else! Well, while I love both holubchi and pyrohyr, I am craving a nice roast turkey with my homemade stuffing, green bean casserole, baked sweet potato casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, and the works! No doubt both Joyful and my girls will lend a helping hand (Jolly, you may remember, is banned from the kitchen after setting it afire more than once!) LuL

Hi Jill! Thanks for the laugh π Please continue to take care, get rest, get better! Christmas can be wonderful without a turkey (and not only for the turkey π ), so don’t exhaust yourself with preparations! Sending a lot of hugs over the Atlantic!

Thank you, Jeannie!!! Yes, I seem to be getting plenty of rest, for some days it’s about all I can manage, much to my frustration! And you’re right … Christmas is not just about a turkey, but fixing the holiday meal is one of those things I just enjoy doing so much. But, I won’t shed tears if I’m not able to this year. I’ll just sigh a lot! Merry Christmas to you, hubby and the boys!!! I hope your holiday will be wonderful!
