Say WHAT???

If you have lived your life believing that you are, by definition of your gender and skin colour, one of the superior beings on earth, I imagine it’s rather difficult to accept reality when it hits you in the face.  White males have dominated much of our political and societal ‘norms’ since the beginning of this nation.  Until the year 2008 when we elected Barack Obama, a Black man, to be our president, every president had been white.  And male.  We have yet to elect a woman to the highest office in the land, and in fact relatively few women hold seats in Congress.  And yet … a portion of those white males are now claiming that they are “victims of racism.”  SERIOUSLY???

Women fought long and hard just to get the right to vote … it took them until August 1920!  Men generally did not want women to vote, just as today they do not want women to have senior positions in our government.  A few facts …

  • In 1839 Mississippi was the first state to allow women to own property in their own names
  • In 1848, the Married Woman’s Property Act was passed in New York and used as a template for other states in later years. This Act allowed women to enter into contracts on her own, transact business and file a lawsuit in her own name.  By 1900, all other states had passed similar laws
  • In 1862, the U.S. Homestead Act made it easier for single, widowed and divorced women to claim land in their own names.
  • In 1872 Illinois granted freedom of occupational choice to both men and women. But when Myra Colby Bradwell, who studied as her husband’s law apprentice to pass the Illinois bar, tried to practice as a lawyer, the US supreme court ruled in 1873 that the state doesn’t have to grant a law license to a married woman. Say WHAT???
  • In 1963, the US passed the first legislation requiring equal pay for equal work, but it needed to be expanded in 1972 to include salespeople, executives, administrators, etc.
  • In 1970 a federal appeals court decision makes it illegal for a company to change a job’s title so that they could pay women who held the position less than male workers. 1970, people … think about it … just over 50 years ago!

Remember that Virginia Slims television commercial (from back when cigarette companies were still allowed to advertise on television) that said, “You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby!”  Indeed, women in most western countries including the U.S. have come a long way, but look how long it has taken, and the reality is that in the U.S. today, women are still considered by too many to be second-class citizens.

Even worse, Black people in this country have had to fight for every teeny tiny step of progress they have made and far too many lives … BLACK LIVES … have been lost in that never-ending battle.  Even in this, the 21st century, Black people are losing their lives to white supremacists for no reason other than the colour of their skin!  Remember the story of Emmett Till who was killed by white men in 1955 because he was a young Black boy and had a conversation with a white store clerk.  Even our police, the very people who are sworn to uphold the law of the land, are often the perpetrators of hate crimes against Black people!  Remember Breonna Taylor?  SAY HER NAME!  Remember Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Alton Sterling, George Floyd and so very many others???  SAY THEIR NAMES, DAMMIT! Remember them … always.

My point?  Those white entitled men who claim they are victims of racism are so full of sh*t that I can smell them five miles away!  Last week, the former guy claimed that he is a victim of racial discrimination because … wait for it … the prosecutors in Georgia, New York, and Washington who are investigating Trump and his business organization are all Black.  Oh the irony, for I have never known anybody more racist and misogynist than Donald Trump!

But alas, Trump isn’t the only one riding this fake victim train!  The infamous Ted Cruz, senator from Texas, claimed that President Biden’s decision to appoint a Black woman to the Supreme Court was “offensive” and excludes most “Americans”.  Bullshit, Teddy!!!  Most “Americans” are excluded by nature of the fact that most of us do not qualify, do not have law degrees and previous experience as a judge!  Roger Wicker, a senator from Mississippi said that limiting the pool to Black women is “affirmative racial discrimination.”

I’m tired, my friends.  I’m sick and damn tired of the people whose voices are the loudest in this nation twisting and turning words, upholding bigotry in all its forms, and hastening to destroy life on this planet.  I’m sick and tired of the people who are against anything and everything that makes sense, such as mask and vaccine mandates, protecting and repairing the environment, equality for ALL, whether male or female, Black or white, gay or straight.  There’s an old saying that, “If you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem.”  So true, and today there are so many who are choosing to be part of the problem and keeping the rest from finding the solutions to what is wrong in this world.  For Christmas, my daughter bought me this t-shirt …

Pretty damn accurate, I’d say.

Can I get your daughter to find me a t-shirt like it that says…

    “I am DONE whitey-ing and white-washing!
    I’m Color-blind! Try it, you’ll LOVE it!”

    • Companies like that use whatever tool they can to impress their customers to buy their products. They made it sound like they were praising the Woman”s Movement, while in reality trying to get the younger generations more addicted than the older generations. Money rules. Customers drool.

  4. Selfish idiots, every one of them. Greedier than hell, most of them. And not one of them with the balls to admit their way of life is eroding, and say they are glad it is. The world will be a better place without those white mofos who cannot take part in the change.

    • I think that some of them would truly like to revert to the early 1800s when women were literally unable to own property, vote, or divorce their husbands … they were slaves in every sense of the word, dependent completely on the ‘man’ for their very survival. I would not have fared well in those days!

      • Few of today’s women would, though there are a whole bunch who act like they would prefer it that way. They must be brainwashed!
(Meanwhile, could you please change “greedily” to “greedier”! I cannot imagine what would make Spelchek think it knows what I want to say better than I do.

        • I think there are a relative handful of women who like the notion of being ‘taken care of’ by a man, of not having to earn a living or worry about such things as bills and politics. But, they are a very few … most of us like being equal, being responsible for ourselves, or at least knowing we can be.

I ran into a number of women all over North America who were members of a group where they had to ask their husbands what to wear, and what to make for meals, etc. etc. etc. Most if them loved it, but some cracks were beginning to appear, which is what brought them to that website. They asked questions about the real world, and I told them the truth. To them women shopping for their own clothes sounded like a luxury. They seldom got to even leave their own houses by themselves. According to one woman, their numbers were in the tens of thousands, and their husbands all knew each other, and were members of the same groups. It was the saddest thing I ever came across. The women who wanted to leave were too scared to. They believed they would be hunted down, and get beaten when returned to their husbands. I cried many tears for them. And then Answers.Com was closed down, and all contacts were lost.

            • No, and in fact I don’t believe I ever heard of Answers.com. Wow … those are incredible tales … so hard to believe that women are still letting men lead them around by a nose-ring in this, the 21st century!!! Have they never read a book??? Sheesh … I would feel sorry for them, but that is just sheer stupidity/ignorance/laziness, or some such thing.

              • Laziness, and irresponsibility, from what I heard them imply. They never had to make a decision, their men made ALL of those. They just did what they were told, until they didn’t like it anymore. Maybe they were brought up that way, I do not know, but more than one of them told me they had no idea they “could make their own decisions!” Rather like people brought up in religious homes. I had no idea I did not have to believe in a God until I began to question the validity of god and the bible, at which timeI found out I could do anything I wanted. What you don’t know can stymie you!

                • Yes, laziness and a lack of responsibility no doubt played a role, as did the fact that they had been brainwashed, perhaps by the example set by their own parents, to believe that a “woman’s place is in the kitchen”. Sad, but even today there are some like that, usually in ultra-religious sects.

My neice’s daughter, no particular religion that I know of, but a believer of something, moved in with hey “forever” boyfriend just before Covid. It lasted less than three months when he turned into a control freak. She was devastated, but she had the sense to leave. I know it’s just one, but where there is one, there are many lurking in the weeds.

                    • As you say, at least she had the sense to get out while she could. I’m a firm believer in a couple living together for a year or so before getting married or having children. Until you live with a person, you never truly know him or her.

  5. Enter the voice of reason(ability). All of these poor misguided males just might have figured out that they were all part of a woman’s body for the first nine months of conception! Imagine that! Each and every living or dead man on earth began life as part of a second class woman. That HAS to be difficult for them to live with, and the easiest thing for them to find a way to deny!

Oh, I’m in such a mood today! Not sure why but very restless. And finding it so difficult to cater to the idiots of this world who still think the turnip is forever right. I think I’ll begin making some KoolAid — to save the Donald the time it would take to make enough for all the idiots.

    • I think they forget that at a very early age, my friend. They see women as chattel, something to be used and to rule over. Well, not all men, obviously, but those who still refuse to vote for a women because they believe that women are incapable of using their brains. And admittedly, there are some women who have fed that notion, like Margie Greene!

I share your bad mood today … too much to raise the hackles in the news every day and I cannot simply turn it off as some can. Lace that Kool Aid with a bit of arsenic or something! Hugs, dear Angie.

      • I have some drain opener that should do the trick quite nicely. Might need a bit of Jack Daniels to hide the taste though..Or Kentucky Tavern, much worse taste than J.D. but packs more sedation value. My mom used the KT to keep her healthy during flu season. One spoon full neat and it would burn all germs located in the body away. Nearly strangled me the one time I was with her and she handed me the glass and told me to swallow it fast. Hugs back atcha!

  7. You have eloquently stated what should be obvious to all but is denied by many! The very fact that laws must still be enacted to grant what in reality are birthrights for all of humanity says it all to me. “Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity.” – Mother Teresa. WHAK!! Thank-you!

    • Sigh. If I live to be a thousand years old, I will never understand the concept that white people are somehow better, more deserving of privilege, than Blacks or Hispanics or Asians. And why the Sam Hell men feel superior to women is well beyond my comprehension! HAH! Let one of them try giving birth … bunch of wusses! Sigh. Mother Teresa was 100% right, but apparently nobody listened. WHAK!!!

  8. As a white guy Jill, I can honestly say I’m embarrassed by these whiny snowflake so-called masculine conservative idiots. I’ve never seen a more privileged bunch of idiots in my life. I guess plays to a base of people who feel the same way. You know, more bitching and complaining about how “aggrieved” they are. Hmmm, sounds quite a bit like the former guy doesn’t it?

    • Thanks, Michael!!! Yes, some privileged white males are not satisfied because Black, Hispanic, and Asian people are getting some of the attention, and women have moved into corporate boardrooms … GASP! Indeed, dangerous silliness. Or, as Carolyn said, her son keeps asking why people are so stupid and she has no answer … neither do I. Sigh. xx

He will say anything to distract, except the words “I take responsibility for my actions.” He is being discriminated against – people of morals, ethics, and character are investigating a person who has cut too many corners, cheated too many people, fudged too many lies and betrayed his country.
