If you ever wonder why there are few, if any, good people in the GOP, it’s because it is suicide to be a good person in today’s GOP, aka Republican Party. Yes, that’s right, folks … you either play by their rules, or you’re out of the game. The latest example is U.S. Representative Chris Jacobs of New York who had the audacity to say, after speaking about the most recent mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, “I can’t in good conscience sit back and say I didn’t try to do something.” Them’s fightin’ words in the Republican ranks these days!
Within the week, he was told by GOP members in no uncertain terms that his opinions were not welcome, and was taken to task by Junior, aka the son of the evil former guy. WHAT THE HELL does Junior even have to do with anything? He’s never held a government position and doesn’t even have an IQ over 75!!! He is irrelevant … or should be, but this is, after all, the Republican Party where the only requirement is that you be a racist and a gun nut — Junior qualifies on both of those.
Anyway, long story short, Mr. Jacobs has decided NOT to run for re-election in November. See, my friends? The Republicans do not want good people in their party … they want only corrupt assholes! Every single one of the ‘good people’ in the Republican Party that I can think of have left. Justin Amash, representative from Michigan, tried to straddle that fence and ultimately gave up in 2019, leaving the Republican Party. Adam Kinzinger, Representative from Illinois since 2011 and one of the few Republicans with a conscience, announced last year, after much harassment from his party over his role on the January 6th investigative committee, that he will not seek re-election this year. See, folks??? The Republican Party does not want good people, they want crooks, corrupt politicians who don’t give a fig about the people paying their salaries!!!
Mr. Jacobs words upon announcing his decision …
“We have a problem in our country in terms of both our major parties. If you stray from a party position, you are annihilated. For the Republicans, it became pretty apparent to me over the last week that that issue is gun control. Any gun control.”
Yesterday, the former guy’s buddy Peter Navarro was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of criminal contempt that each carry a maximum sentence of a year in prison, as well as a fine of up to $100,000. ‘Bout damn time! But wait … ol’ Louie Gohmert, Republican representative from Texas 🙄 whined that …
“If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you.”
Say WHAT??? You’re not supposed to lie to Congress or the FBI, fool!!! If any of us did so, we’d be in prison for a few years! Seems to me that ol’ Louie doesn’t understand the meanings of “integrity”, “honesty”, and “responsibility”. And for this, We the People pay this ‘man’ $174,000 every year! C’mon, Texans … get this asshole out of our Congress!
I will tell you in no uncertain terms that anybody … anybody who votes for ANY Republican candidate in November is, in my book, careless about the future of this nation, the future of the human species, the future of the planet. If you vote for any of the sub-humans on the GOP ticket, you are dooming this nation and its people to a lifetime of hell. Oust them!!! Oust McCarthy, Gaetz, Gohmert, Boebert and Greene! Replace them with people who have both a brain and a conscience, people who will act in the best interest of us all, not only their wealthy donors in the gun and fossil fuel industries! Don’t like some of the Democrats? So what? I don’t like some of them either, but the party doesn’t shun those who want to help the people of this nation, who really do want to try to make this a better place for us all.
Latent hysteria built up over years of being frustrated by progress erupted in 2008 when ‘one of those people’ got into the Whitehouse. Since then one loud and pernicious wing of the Republican Party has burst forth and a slurry of regressive ideas are turning up.
Now we all know this is so very obvious.
The major question is, do the bloc of people who support them and pull their strings realise together they are on track to fracture the nation.
Sadly, the answer is No.
It is therefore up to the majority of Moderation to not just vote against them, but tie them up in legal challenges at every opportunity, and make their efforts unworkable.
Before the agenda against this wing of the Republican Party is taken over by the folk of Desperation and Violence.

Looking in from the outside, it certainly seems to me that your once-proud nation has been hijacked by the mafia.

It has been hijacked … by people with no values, no integrity, and who wouldn’t know the truth if it hit them in the posterior. Sigh.

Hello peNdantry. The US is a corporate run government system where big businesses buy the politicians of their choice to make laws to increase businesses profit. Money is speech and the people cannot speak loud enough anymore to be heard over the roar of corporate big money donations. Hugs

I hear you. The Citizens United vs FEC decision was a turning point that allowed the corporations to pervert democracy. That decision has to be overturned, somehow… though, of course, the corporations are now holding all the cards and laughing all the way to the bank.

Overturning Citizens United is about as likely as me sprouting wings tonight and being able to fly. Yep, the corporations hold all the cards and it is a vicious circle … they can buy and sell enough members of Congress to ensure the will of the people will never again be done.

Sad but true … it all boils down not to people’s lives or freedoms, not to education, climate change, gun safety, healthcare, poverty, but only to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Citizens United v FEC doomed this nation almost single-handedly. Hugs

I know this isn’t a politically correct word, but Louis Gohmert is a retard. And so are my fellow Texans who voted for him.

These days our patience is tried to the point that it’s almost impossible NOT to be politically incorrect sometimes. And I agree with you about Gohmert … he MUST GO!!! I never heard such rubbish!

Gohmert, Cruz, Abbott…we sure can pick ’em here. 🤬🤬🤬

Yeah, it sometimes seems that way. Tell you what … you can make up for them all if you’ll just vote Beto O’Rourke into the Governour’s Mansion in November!!! Deal? Yeah, I know it’s a long shot, but I’m hearing that he’s only 1 or 2 percentage points behind Abbott at this time. I’d love to see the look on Ted Cruz’ face if Beto wins!!! Gohmert is such a lulu that I don’t know how a single person voted for him!

Yeah, me neither. I’m definitely voting Beto!

Hello justdrivewillyou. Who holds the real political power in Texas, the governor or the LT governor? Thanks. Hugs

Depends. In times past, it’s been the Lt. guv, but I think Abbott has more power than Dan Patrick, but they’re both still numbskulls.
And call me Larry. Hugs back.

He is angry, I am angry, and we’re sometimes going to say such things. It’s not a word I would use, but I am not offended by what Larry said. End of discussion.

I also have voted Republican in the past, back when they stood for something, which they no longer do.

Agreed. Now, they only stand for bigotry and cruelty. The party needs a rebuild from the ground up, but they don’t see it, so it’s not likely to happen anytime soon.
LikeLiked by 1 person
The GOP does not need a rebuild, it needs annihilation. Total annihilwtion! And Election 2022 is the time to annihilate them. Every Democrat or Independent in America needs to vote this year, and they must vote AGAINST all the Republican candidates on their slate, no matter what. The RNC wants to be a party of assholes, let them be a party without one seat in Congress! (Okay, they might win a few states, but get the vote out!) If people believe in gun control, and a woman’s right to choose, those are the two biggest reasons to get off their buttocks and vote. Show the Republicans America is not a home for backward thinking and evangelical stupidity. It is TIME FOR AMERICA TO SPEAK, and it is time to speak with one voice!

Well, given that we NEED two viable parties in order to function as a democratic republic, then they DO need a rebuild rather than annihilation. However, it won’t happen until the people of this nation stop believing the lies they are told and open their eyes to truth and reality, until those who would vote Republican demand that the party sever its ties with the former guy and change their values … or, should I say, develop some values. When people make it clear they will not tolerate the evil that today infiltrates the GOP, then and only then will they even try to make it better.

I stand by annihilate. With the Republicans gone, a vacuum will follow. You’ll have a new party quite quickly. What I personally would like to see is the Democratic Party split along center/left of center lines. There is already enough bickering between the two sides, making an official split would give both sides a rest, and a chance to refocus.

At one time it looked as if some in the Republican Party, thoroughly fed up with the former guy and his minions, would break off from the main party and form their own, but apparently they were quickly convinced that to do so would be political suicide. I can’t agree with ‘annihilation’ for it is too reminiscent of what Hitler tried to do to the Jewish people last century. There’s a better way than killing. At least, I hope there is.

Oh, Jill, I am advocating no killing, just having an election where Republicans win less than 50 House seats and 10 Senate seats. That would “annihilate” them as a valid political party. Surely you did not think I meant physical annihilation. You know me better than that
LikeLiked by 1 person
Indeed, I DO know you better than that, and I didn’t think you were actually calling for murder. It’s just that for most people, the word ‘annihilation’ conjures up murder and it’s not a path I want to go down, although quite frankly I think we’re already on that path. Sigh.

Here is one American who appreciates your efforts and finds your input both valuable and helpful. Keep up the good work. Back in the 1970s, I visited your lovely country on occasions and I was so impressed with how clean everything was that I packed every scrap of my refuse into a garbage bag and brought it back to Detroit once I had passed through your border with The U.S. I loved going up The Queen’s Highway out of Windsor with a final destination of Wawa, Canada. It was a glorious time.

I won’t tell you what we called Wawa in the 60’s. Detroit huh? My favourite sports teams all come from Detroit. Do the names Gordie Howe and Al Kaline mean anything to you? How about Barry Sanders and Steve Yzerman. For sports heroes, they are some of my favourites. But sports are just a pastime.
Life is my main concern. A safe life. A peaceful life. A happy life. A good life. In the USA, that means life without Republican assholes.

I loved the drive along Lake Superior more than anything I have ever done. I know that Wawa is the migration point for the Great Canadian Geese … Blue Bird falls is also nearby ..if I got the name right .. it is a scenic falls anyway. Detroit was less of a crap hole then .. but Canada was pristine, clean … I could actually breathe the air there and like it …Yes, the world would be better off without the right wing assholes… I agree with that completely.

Okay, you’ve aroused my curiosity … what did you call Wawa in the 60s?
LikeLike
I’m not alowed to say on your blog, but it goes “the a*****e of Canada.” In the 60s, when we hippies used to hitchhike everywhere, there was one town that we were supposed to avoid at all costs, but for some reason when passing through that part of Ontario, more people than not ended up stranded in Wawa. If you were seen to be “homeless,” what they called vagrants in those days, the police would pick us us and put us in jail for a night, or two, or three, or seven. Kind of depended on what they thought of the way we looked. Almost everyone who travelled through Ontario had a Wawa story to tell. Some got stranded for weeks at a time. When the guy who picked me up, my second time through, told me he was going as far as Wawa, I asked him to let me out the town before. The next ride I got sailed through Wawa, didn’t even stop for gas or food. I lesrned my lesson the first trip through, Avoid Wawa at all costs.
