Good Monday morning, friends! I have lived in this area for about 35 years, and in all that time I have never known of the temperatures to go beyond 92° (F) and those days are rare, maybe 3 or 4 of them in a year. But this coming week, it is predicted to reach 98° two days — I think Tuesday and Wednesday — and just the thought of it has left me gasping for air. But, guess what else? Go on, you can probably guess quite easily. Yep, last Thursday our air-conditioning stopped working! We live in a townhouse apartment complex, so we immediately called maintenance, they came, thought they had fixed it, but by Thursday night it was not working. Long story short, they have been here four times now, have recharged the heat pump, replaced a part or two, and it still isn’t working. Now, since I have a heart problem and severe asthma (no comments about me being a heavy smoker, please) the combination of the heat and broken a/c is a disaster for me. The maintenance dude promised yesterday that he will be back today and “get this #ucker working, one way or another” … fingers crossed! Why is it always the hottest or coldest day of the year that the a/c or heat goes out? Kismet? Sigh. Anyway, it’s Monday and we’re determined to bring a smile to your face to start out the week! Since it is so hot, Joyful didn’t want to add to the heat by cooking, so she pulled together some cold finger food type snacks for you, and Jolly went to Starbucks for your coffee! So, grab a plate and let’s find some laughs, shall we?
Jolly helped me find some funny signs this weekend that we thought you would get a kick out of …
And we have ‘toons, ‘toons, ‘toons to make you smile!
And just a few fun memes …
And last, but never least, how ’bout a cute critter video?
Well, friends, I’m sad to say that the time has come for each of us to get on with our Monday, whether it be to a job, blogging, or writing the great American novel! For me, it will be waiting for the maintenance dude with fingers crossed! We hope you have a safe and happy week, and remember to share those beautiful smiles I see on your faces! Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly and Joyful!
Which costs more … medicines for your allergies and heart problems …. or cigarettes? Hmmm. I wonder.
I used to live where temps hovered in the 100’s all summer long … but it was a dry heat which, if I’m correct, is NOT what you’re experiencing. In any event … 🤞 that the A/C is working again!

Wellllllll … my meds cost far more, and would be necessary even if I didn’t smoke, so I figure I deserve some small pleasures in life, yes? Cigs, an occasional glass of wine, and plenty of books to read keep me from losing more of my sanity! 😉
I cannot imagine living in such a hot climate, but you’re right … here, the humidity is a big factor. Many days we have 90% humidity, which makes even temps in the low 80s feel unbearable. Yep, they got the a/c working around noon today and, knock on wood, it is still going at 1:30 a.m.! The electricity went out briefly when the afternoon thunderstorm hit, and I panicked! But thankfully it came right back on, and the a/c still worked! We are lucky, for some 150,000 people in our area are still without electricity!

Excellent all around, Jill. I also have asthma, Jill so I can sympathize with your heat problems.

Glad you enjoyed Jolly Monday … and Joyful sends her apologies for no bacon, but says she’ll make up for it next week. (I told her you probably don’t need the cholesterol anyway 😉 ) Fortunately, our a/c is fixed … for now, anyway, and I’m breathing somewhat better tonight … might even manage to sleep for a few hours! Have a great week, my friend!

Great painted jokes. Thanks, Jill! Best wishes for he hot days, and maybe an advice to sit down between hanging damp sheets. The evaporation cold causes a wonderfully bearable climate. Was my best best solution, i remember from the past in hot Greece. 😉 xx Michael

I’m so glad you enjoyed them, dear Michael! Thankfully, our air-conditioning is currently working, after the maintenance dudes worked on it for two hours this morning. Fingers crossed it keeps working! But your idea sounds like it just might work, and if the air goes out again, I will try it! Long, long time ago, we lived in the mountains and didn’t even have air-conditioning, so when it got really hot, I would soak my t-shirt, then wear it, which kept me pretty cool, as I recall. Did you once live in Greece, then? When you first started following my blog, I though you were in Greece … the name “Oikos” just sounded Greek to me … but then I learned you are in Germany, so I thought I must have been wrong. xx

I’m glad you enjoyed them! It’s not supposed to cool off until the weekend, but our air is working, for now, so no complaints — I’m just thankful, for about 150,000 people in our area are without electricity due to a massive thunderstorm that moved through this evening! We are among the lucky ones!
Joyful says she’s sorry about no bacon, but she’ll make it up to you next Monday! Have a great week, my friend.

I know, my elephant’s always getting out of the damn car, even when I tell him no. Hope the a/c gets fixed, PRONTO. Meanwhile, where I live, we’re up near 100°F all this week. Welcome to Texas. 🥵

Sheesh, Larry … have you not considered sending your elephant to obedience school? You cannot just keep letting him hop out of the car whenever he pleases! 100° is unbearable!!! Then again, you guys have drier air … for us, it is the heat coupled with high humidity that kills us. As my Iraqi neighbor says, “I’m no can …” Keep cool, my friend … it ain’t even officially summer yet!!! 😱

Jill, too funny. This is a Stop sign. I hope those driving elephants heed it. Keith

Well I’m so glad I could start your week with a smile! I don’t think I want to be in the vicinity when the elephants are driving through! Have a good week, my friend.

As an ex-smoker I promised myself not to write anything about cigarettes or other drugs.
So I won’t.
See, a man of my word .😈
The cartoons were very funny.
Have a wonderful Monday, dear Jill.
Ps. What is 92 in real temperature?
😉

Indeed you are a man of your word 😉
I’m glad you enjoyed the ‘toons and hope you’ll drop back in next Monday for another dose of Jolly Monday! Do you mean in Celsius, or with the heat index? In celsius, it is about 37°. With the heat index factored in, it can vary but I saw yesterday that it could be as high as 109° (F)

Celsius. I was being a tad facetious. 😉
37. Phew! That is approaching the Hot as Hades range.

I hope you get your a/c sorted toot sweet and the hot days are cooled by some nice breezes. Would you ask Joyful if he could add Pepsi Max to her list next time if she can get past all the elephants in their cars and the fart squirrels.. I will drink Fanta at a pinch but they went very quickly. Cat videos don’t move me at all.
Cwtch.

So far, touch wood, it’s working after they spent two hours on it. The electricity briefly went out after they got it working, and I was quietly panicking, but it came right back on. Still storming, though, so we’re not out of the woods yet.
I will certainly tell Joyful to add Pepsi Max to the lineup next time! Glad you enjoyed the ‘toons, and sorry you weren’t moved by the adorable little kitten! Ah well … I owe you a bird video soon to make up for it!

I do hope that a/c is sorted out for you this time Jill🙏
The YouTube of the kitten is absolutely heart-warming. That lady is a true saint!

You’re gonna love this tail of poetic justice. They came this morning, worked on it for 2 hours, got it working! We were so happy! And then came the storms that knocked the power out! Luckily, the electricity came right back on, but it is still out in most of the rest of our area, and it’s still storming, so we’re keeping our fingers tightly crossed!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the kitten video … it melted my heart, and yes, she is a saint with so much patience!

Don’t that figure!😠
The expression…’Aww Gimme a Break, willya!’ spring to mind.
Hope that pesky ac keeps on trucking for you now Jill.

All is well so far … touch wood! We are nice and cool indoors and it is hotter than heck outside! I was out for 2 minutes this morning to feed the outside critters (squirrels & birds) and was sweating and wheezing by the time I got back in! I think summer is no longer my favourite season!

Agreed. When I catch myself whingeing, I remind myself that there are a lot of people struggling in ways that I’ve never even come close to knowing, and that overall I am so very lucky. Thanks for the reminder, my friend.
