This week, as has been the case for many weeks/months of late, there was plenty for the political cartoonists to choose from. Recent Supreme Court rulings and Tuesday’s televised hearing of Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony to the January 6th committee are, naturally, the main topics and the cartoonists have done a great job showing us the drama and angst that defines our nation today. You won’t find much in the way of mirth, but there is a certain dark humour woven into it all. Please be sure to click on the link at the bottom of this post to see the rest of the cartoons! Thank you, TokyoSand, for finding some of the best ‘toons from this past dark week.
The one with the Trump portrait is so apt!

Jill, I liked it much better when Clarence Thomas did not speak very much asking so few questions. Is it too much to ask to have a SCOTUS that is apolitical? Keith

Unfortunately, moneyed interests have wormed their way into the Supreme Court, just as they have into our Congress. I will have an upcoming post by Robert Hubbell addressing this and ways to return the Court to a non-partisan branch, if only we can do it. Sigh.

The handmaid one really made me think. I have been saying it for a minute, but I would also be one of the first ones to be strung up on the bridge due to my beliefs and the way I live my life. I feel like Margaret Atwood gave these asshats in SCOTUS the manual on how to put us women down. *sighs* Thanks for sharing these, Sis. Love ya!

“The Handmaid’s Tale”, “1984”, and “Brave New World” have all made a major comeback in sales over the last several years. Gee … I wonder why 😲 I doubt many of the Justices, including what’s-her-name Barrett, have read any of those books, though. They are just taking advantage of the moment, of having an unbreakable majority, to do the things they’ve long dreamed of doing. And believe me, money plays a role in their decisions, just as it does in the laws passed or denied by Congress. Sorry I am behind on email and comments … hope you’re okay and I’m thinking of you always! Love you too, Sis!

Money is all that makes this world go around besides conservative penises 🤣 I am hanging in there. I am putting my head into my work so that I keep my chin up. Always thinking of you too, Sis! Much love to you!

It seems to be so these days. Someday, the world will be forced to realize just how little value that money has, but until then they will use it to dominate, to discriminate, and to enhance their power to the detriment of the other 99% of us. Sigh. Love ‘n hugs, dear Sis! ❤

That is so very true. I wish we could get that percentage lower. I am sighing with you Sis. All my hugs and love 💓

I hope so too, my friend! It may take some self-sacrifice to show the wealthy corporate barons that we won’t buy their products or work for them until they learn to a) pay their fair share in taxes, b) pay their workers a fair wage, c) contribute to humanitarian causes, and d) do everything in their power to help reverse the damages of climate change. Until we are willing to make some sacrifices for the greater good, though, nothing is likely to change. As the old saying goes, “The rich get richer while the poor get poorer.” Love and bunches of hugs!!! 🤗

The rich won’t understand until it starts happening to them. It will though, sadly. These branches of government are out for themselves, and they don’t even see how much they are shooting their own feet. I’m eating my popcorn, using my voice, and standing with those that will be standing at the end. Women will still be standing because we have nothing left to lose, Sis! 🙂 We will stand so tall. I think the women’s suffrage movement is on again. I am sure that women and minorities account for more people than cold, domineering men 🙂 What do you think? Love and tons of hugs right back! 🤗

Yep, but that’s just it … the only way to make them change is to hit them in the only place it hurts — their profits. Imagine for a minute if nobody … not one single person … bought Tyson chicken for a period of one month. Send them a list of demands and let them know that until they engage in fair labour practices, we will continue to live without their chickens.
Oh great! Now I’m craving popcorn! Yes, dear Sis, you are giving 100% and that’s as much as any of us can do. Thing is, if we ALL do that, then we CAN and WILL make a difference! We may not fix all the problems, but we can make a difference, maybe even a major one. Funny you mention the women’s suffrage movement tonight, for just a few minutes ago I was referring to someone as a ‘male chauvinist pig’ and told my daughter that we fought for our rights half a century ago, and today we’re having to fight the same ol’ fight. So are the Blacks having to fight for their Civil Rights all over again. Do we never learn, never move forward in any lasting, positive way?
Oh yeah, if you combined women and minorities, I’m sure we would have a majority! Sadly, far too many women are traitors to their gender like those in that group, Moms 4 Liberty. I think some women LIKE being sex objects, not being forced to actually think for themselves. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Lots of love, dear Sis, and a zillion hugs!

Hey Sis 🙂 I love popcorn too! The image that came to mind was cock fighting for me on hitting them in the profits Ha! I will have to check out Moms 4 Liberty. I had never heard of them before you mentioned them. It sounds like a group that would come out of the south.
I used to be like those women that were too scared to have my own opinion and identity. I am so glad that my backbone separated from a man’s control.
You are so right about the civil rights. I would add same-sex marriage and LGBTQIA+ to the list of something that will have to be fought over again. We honestly have gone back to the worst times in history for people who are different than the status quo.
I think in times like these, women have to be feminist to put those men you were talking about in their place. Ten years ago, I would have never said that and would have felt funny saying it.
Love ya big, Sis! Sending tons of hugs your way!

Oh my … cockfighting, eh? I’ve never been to one, but I will never … ever … forget my one and only bullfight. My father took me to one in Mexico City when I was … oh, probably no more than 7 or 8. I was so horrified … I cried and had nightmares for days and he never took me to another! My late ex-husband had a cousin who held dogfights and I could not stand the man … I would leave a room if he walked into it. Sigh.
Oh yes, definitely check out Moms4Liberty: https://www.momsforliberty.org A more disgusting group would be hard to find. Let me know what you think, although I’m pretty sure I can already make a guess 😉
And if you really want something to raise your hackles, check out my Snarky Snippet post later this morning (3:00 a.m. my time, midnight your time) and look at the 2nd snippet, the one about Elijah Schaffer. Guaranteed to make you want to spit!
Much love and bunches of hugs, dear Sis!!!

It’s less inhumane, but it’s still a pretty brutal fight of spurring and pecking the other rooster. I haven’t watched one from beginning to end due to my connection with animals, so you and I have that in common too. Torturing animals, like bulls and dogs, for sport is definitely a good way to get on my shit list. I would have had nightmares too.
I went to check them out. It’s amusing to me how someone establishes qualifications for a group like that. “Foster care parent, mother of four, retired teacher” blah blah. Women like that dubbed me as a bad mom and took my babies. So yeah…that group needs dismantled. I bet I could do it from the inside out. They do need a volunteer research assistant 😂 I was also surprised to see a chapter so close to me.
I will definitely catch up tomorrow on the Snarky Snippet. I have another job interview in the morning at 10:15 a.m., so I have to be good and go to bed lol. If I read it now, I might not get to bed before 2 a.m. 😀
Big love and much hugs, Sis!

Hmmmm … I hear the wheels turning even from 1,500 miles away!!! A mutiny from within … I LOVE the idea! But, I suspect you would want to punch the whole lot of them on the very first day! They are a self-righteous bunch of bitches from all that I’ve read! A chapter close by, eh? Hmmmm … 🤔 Keep me posted!!!
Yes, get rest for your interview … anything I write these days is likely to have you gnashing your teeth rather than sleeping! How did the interview go? And how are classes going? Love you bunches, dear Sis!!!

Hey sis! I had to buckle down to get my homework done. I am nearly done with my summer session (Thank the Lord), and I have my ConLaw final coming up on July 21. The job interview was a disaster. I am supposed to have another one tomorrow, but I think I really need to do some skill building on interviewing techniques before I ruin chances of getting on with the state. I really do not interview well. I suck at talking about myself and my skillset because I am not one to brag. I stumble so badly. Love you bunches and missed you dearly!! Hugs!

You have worked so hard … know that I am so proud of you!!! Did you get any pleasure out of your ConLaw classes, or were you too busy to think about it? I hope you enjoyed it at least a little bit. I’m sure you will ace your final, for you’ve worked so hard that it couldn’t be otherwise.
Oh no … what went wrong at the interview? I absolutely hate job interviews. Most are bullshit, never really asking questions that are important, but going for the b.s. questions like “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?” or “If you could be any animal, what animal would you be?” I had a head hunter tell me one time that the reason I didn’t get a certain job was the interviewer didn’t like my shoes … she thought they were ‘cheap’. Sorry, lady, but at the time I was supporting 3 kids and struggling to put food on the table — shoes were the least of my worries! Don’t worry about learning interview skills, for you don’t want to work for those kind of people anyway. The good ones will ask the right questions and you’ll feel right at home answering them. They will see the real Amy, the one who just wants to do good in this world.
Love you too, miss you, and thinking of you always! Hugs ‘n loves!

I think I have absorbed a lot of the ConLaw. We analyze the cases, definitions, and relate it all together, so I am loving it. I am actually sad to see it end, but next semester will be a new playing field with my intro paralegal courses starting.
I hate them too, and they are sometimes so ignorant. The interviews for CDCR drive me insane because they list all of these tasks and say describe my knowledge of each of those tasks (like 10 different ones), and my mind goes blank trying to remember them all. When I am nervous, I am a scatterbrain. I would love to go into an interview feeling confident lol. I have only been comfortable once in my 46 years interviewing for a waitress position back in the day. Ah well…There will be more jobs to come. I am working hard to make sure that I save money and build my skills 🙂
Big hugs and lots of loves, Sis! I am so glad that I am not alone in the interviewing blues lol.

I’ve found through the years that the interviews I did the best on were the ones where the interviewer didn’t play the b.s. game, where he/she got straight down to business: “Here’s what we have to offer, here’s what we need, now tell me how you can meet our needs.” I was lucky throughout my career and for the most part had jobs that lasted a long time, so I wasn’t thrown to the interview wolves too many times. I always tried to remember, when sitting on the other side of the desk, how the applicant feels, that they are nervous, and I just want to put them at ease. Ha ha … I interviewed one lady one time for a position as an accounting clerk. In the ad, I had plainly stated that the position required familiarity with the software package we used. So, when she came in to interview, during the course of the conversation I asked her about her experience with that software package … and her reply floored me: “Well, I’ve never actually used a computer, but if you show me how to turn it on, I can figure it out.” This was, of course, back in the 1980s when not everyone was computer-literate, but still! I immediately ended the interview, told her I didn’t have time to waste!
Hugs ‘n love, sweet Sis!

Ha! I used to be that girl that you interviewed. I would apply to everything and take every interview regardless of skill 😀 Maybe that is why I suck at interviews now LOL. Just once I would love to walk in and feel comfortable in one of those damn things (interviews) 🙂
Hope you are well sis! I have 4 more days of the semester and then get to live a little bit. Loves and hugs!

Your day will come, sweet Sis! One day you will be sitting across the desk and just know that this is the one. There will be a bond, a click. Don’t settle for less! Whew … you must be exhausted! Give yourself a break when the 4 days is finally over!!! Love you, dear Sis … sending huge hugs!!!

I am definitely exhausted, but it is a good exhausted 🙂 I honestly cannot believe how much I got done and how much I learned. It’s crazy how different schools can be in content and instruction. I learned more this past month than I did in 2 years I think LOL. Love you, Sis! Huge hugs and loves back to you 🙂

Tons in a short time, but it was very rewarding for me. The way they taught it in that short time with study guides allowed for a lot of memory intake 🙂 Love you bunches, and so happy to be back to nightly reading of my comments from my dear Sis!
