You’ve all heard that expression “Can’t see the forest for the trees.” And to an extent, it’s true … here in the U.S. we are so bombarded with the latest horrors that happen on a daily … nay, an HOURLY basis now that it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. So, when someone from across the pond weighs in, it is often with more clarity and focus than we can have. Our friend David has done just that with a post he wrote in his sleepless hours last night, and it is well worth the read. He cuts to the chase, leaves aside the minutiae, and clarifies the main thing that needs to happen. Since David is still having trouble getting his comment section working, feel free to leave him your thoughts here and I’ll make sure he sees them. Thank you, David, for your well-stated views!
I’ve been reading about the disclosures made by the House Select Committee investigating Jan 6th and I confess that it’s blown my mind, In the past I’ve made mention that Trump is a con-man though on large scale with his Trump University Scam and his Trump Charity Scam. I can maybe see how a man with the Gift of the Gab could get away with things for so long but now, not to such a degree.
Donald Trump asked for donations to fund his ‘Official Election Defence Fund’ to pay legal fees to challenge and overturn the ‘stolen’ 2020 Election results. He received 250 million in donations for a fund that didn’t exist then….or since which means he committed Wire fraud. Of that money, 13 million went to pay court expenses. The rest went to organisations run by Trump staffers, The Trump Hotel Collections or to the fiancee of Donald…

Thanks for sharing!!.. Trump is just the “head of the snake” and when one gets rid of Trump, one still has the body, which will grow another head.. Trump and the Republicans are just using one another to further their agenda.. while not turning a blind eye to Trump, one needs to concentrate on the base, the people and the home fronts… he is no longer in office and the Republicans are still able to pursue their agenda without him… 🙂
One needs to proceed with patience, making sure all the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted and not over react… over reacting will just create more problems… 🙂
Until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

You make a good point, and for sure, DeSantis is likely just as evil, but more intelligent, which is a dangerous combination. What must be done is first, cut off the current head of the snake, but then wake up the people of this nation, help them to understand that the Republican Party is one without values, without integrity, filled with people who place their own lust for power and wealth ahead of the best interests of the nation and its people. Now, the question becomes, how do we make them see it? Sigh.
Many thanks for the Irish Saying, my friend. You always know how to make me smile.

Im in Florida and and between it and Texas, I dont know who has more stupid people who will continue to donate to this man. But then again look at some of these mega churches and the millions they rake in. People are so gullible and do not use any common sense.

In the words often attributed to PT Barnum, “there’s a sucker born every minute.” Sadly, a large number of them are in Florida and Texas, but Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and every state has their share of them, too.

Gods…I had no idea Trump had become so brazen. Then again, I guess if you keep getting away with fraud, it’s easy to believe you always will. I know it won’t happen, can’t happen, but I’d love to see Donald J Trump sent to jail. I really would. He’s helped to turn the whole world into a cesspool.

Oh yes! He’s always been so … it’s just that he’s given an even broader platform these days, since he doesn’t have any adults in the room to quell his loudest, most obnoxious side. I, too, would love to see him in prison, but I strongly suspect it won’t happen. If nothing else, he’ll keep it tied up in the courts for years. At this point, I will gladly settle for him being charged and convicted so that he can NEVER run for office again!

Charged and convicted with treason, and then anything else the prosecution could find to add on. Seeing as Trump was Pro-Tem leader of the American military on Jan. 6th, that should mean he could face a military tribunal rather than a regular or even Congressional court. Does the military not still have the death penalty for treason? Not that I would advocate for such a sentence, but I would love to see Trump facing that possibility. He would be weeping, puking, and shitting his pants. That is what I would l8ke to see, the Big Lie Man brought trembling to his knees, BEGGING LIKE A COWARD for leniency!

thank you JILL FOR YOUR USUAL KINDNESS. I’ve been looking for a post from you based on Trump’s speech from earlier this week where he describes the America he wants to see with the homeless cleared from Cities so they don’t offend those rich enough to live there, and the laws he wants in place, him being such a law abiding character all under his control. I was tempted to do one but thought you’d be better at that than me.

Hmmmm … in truth, I was likely going to let that one slide, because I felt that perhaps I had already given him more ‘air time’ than he deserved, that I didn’t want my sole focus to become Donald Trump. However, you’ve talked me into it, for the direction he would take this nation is indeed a horrible one. So, give me a day or two and I’ll see what I can do. Meanwhile, if you feel so inclined … feel free! You know I highly value your opinions!

I’ve been saying all these things for along while, in comments all over the place. Thank, you, David, for bringing them all tobether. I don’t understand why Garland is such a coward, or is he now “just another hired hack?” being paid off to look the other way? It certainly feels that way.

I don’t see him as either a coward of a “hired hack”. He is in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation, one which I certainly don’t envy. Let’s give him time … I think he’ll come through … I really do.

He is certainly damned if he doesn’t at least try! Until he proves he has balls, I don’t see him doing anything. That does not mean he won’t, just that he should have already acted if he has any dynamism in him at all.
It would be a big mistake to wait to see how the 2022 election plays out!

No, I don’t think he’s waiting to see how the 2022 election plays out, but merely trying to make sure he has the whole picture, isn’t missing any pieces that could bite him and send the entire investigation into the trash bins.

You’re looking with American eyes. Step outside into the big wide world. There is no “safe” way to attack Trumpism or Trump himself. Risks have to be taken. Playing it safe will kill the American dream. And you know this inside of you. I hear it in almost everything you say.

Yes because Nov. will set the tone for 2024 and will make or break this country.

It certainly seems that way. If Repughs make gains the people will suffer the losses.
