Our friend Scottie is a prolific blogger and I can never keep up with all his posts! However, I do try to catch most of the ones by Beau of the Fifth Column and by Texas Paul. This one by Beau is … well, suffice it to say that he reminds us of Mr. Rogers’ important message … take a look for yourself! Thanks, Scottie! Hugs
What Biden Has Done? A partial list:
Passed the largest infrastructure bill in a generation.
Passed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
Ended the war in Afghanistan.
Passed the first gun safety legislation in a generation.
Banned ghost guns.
Invested $3 billion in mental health and substance abuse prevention
Rejoined the Paris Climate Accords.
Rejoined the World Health Organization.
Appointed 42 federal district court judges—the most in 40 years (during first year).
Restored California’s ability to set stricter climate requirements.
Prohibited discrimination against LGBTQ patients in healthcare
Forgave $11.5B in student loans for disabled students, students who were defrauded.
Democrats have a legitimate basis for a winning narrative going into the midterms. The Inflation Reduction Act may be the development we need to convince the mainstream media to stop with the bias against Biden and the false-equivalency both-siderism that infects nearly all major outlets. Comparing the politics of Joe Biden’s efforts to tame inflation with the GOP’s ongoing effort to undermine democracy is not fair, responsible, or intellectually honest. Those two things are not alike and should not be treated as such by political pundits.

Exactly!!! Biden has tried to do the best for this nation, but half the nation are too ignorant to understand it, else too stubborn to give credit where credit is due. I’m giving Biden two thumbs up for his hard work and humanitarian efforts!

The Dumocrats are self-immolating right in public and they don’t even know it. they’re so worried about which pronoun to use for a transgender person that they are alienating voters by the millions. Biden/Harris have to publicly withdraw from the 2024 election and let the party close another candidate or they are dead in the water.

Hmmmm … I think you and I perhaps view this a bit differently. I see it as important to be respectful of people, and the pronoun issue, while it might not matter much to you or me, does matter to some, people who are consistently put down and discriminated against. I see it more as a matter of respect. And why should it alienate voters? I think it seems to take little to alienate people these days … ask them to wear a mask, tell them not to bring their gun to the party, ask them to take the bus instead of driving to work … and they’re up in arms. Personally, I think Biden is doing the best job he possibly could under very difficult circumstances, as I just told another reader. Maybe if he got a bit of support from Democrats instead of the constant criticism, it would help. Just my thoughts. But just out of curiosity, who do you see as being a viable candidate for the Democrats in 2024 if not Biden?

It’s a phenomenon that so many Dems are seeking an alternative to the Biden:Harris ticket in 2024. O don’t feel it’s mainly because of the economic disaster following the Trump years and the pandemic and the War ( those are certainly at the top of the list) . I suspect it’s because so many feel they have not been strong enough in protecting the rights of women and gay rights or gun control, Biden knew what’s was coming on all fronts but did not get out ahead. This leaves an impression of weakness which we cannot afford! Who is Harris? What has she done? Why did Biden approve a visit to China by Pelosi, I’m sure one conversation could put the kibosh on that.

I think that first of all, Biden inherited a mess left by the former guy, and then it got even worse, though no fault of his own. I think he’s juggling more balls than most anyone could handle, and then came Russia’s war against Ukraine, supply chain issues, a new variant of Covid, and more. So far, the only thing I fault him for is his meeting with MbS — I wish he hadn’t. But, he’s trying to placate those who are whining about the price of fuel — never mind that every mile they drive their car they are further destroying our environment. The things that matter most in the long-term, are unfortunately not the things that seem to matter most to the average voter, and that becomes a problem. That enables a jerk like Donald Trump to promise the moon, even knowing he cannot fulfill those promises and won’t even try, and people lap it up. Sigh.

Biden has been too beholden to the far left feeling that they got him elected and they did but he needs to be a stronger president. His trip to Saudi is an example of trying to please all the people. A big mistake , and Pelosi Should not go to China. The investigation into the coup is so important but he rarely mentions the conspiracy and Trump, he wants to avoid getting involved but few thing matter more that what happened and preventing a recurrence if Trump gets in again. Of course ha hasn’t a final word but any words are better than nothing. Our rights as citizens , every citizen is being taken from us under his watch. Gay rights women rights and the attack on our schools to remain secular. He has to be stronger. He has nearly nothing on seeking a solution to the mock political Supreme Court. The Reps know he is a pushover.

Hello House of Heart. Pelosi is not going to China. She is going to Taiwan. China would like to claim the island, but they also have tried to take the entire South Sea and a bunch of islands that clearly are not theirs. Taiwan is recognized as an independent nation by a lot of countries and treated that way by the US and the UN. If the US allows a foreign country to dictate where a US congressperson can travel in the world it sets an unacceptable precedent.
The problem with the Biden administration is they have no real messaging strategy, and the public doesn’t know what the administration has done and tried to do for the people because the administration simply doesn’t brag enough about itself. And it is hard to project strength when most of the leadership and those on TV for your party are in their late 70’s and mid 80’s. I just posted how a lady that won election to congress in 1972 at age 31 is running again at age 80 as a democrat. We don’t need this. The republicans / right manage to attract younger people who are firebrands, the democrats attract 80 year old’s.
As for progressives, Biden with the help of Pelosi attacks the progressives in congress more than he does the Republicans. Biden calls Moscow Mitch McConnell his good friend, he never says that about AOC or the squad. Pelosi hates the progressives and works to keep them from getting elected first by passing rules that make it harder for people like AOC to challenge incumbents yet then breaks that rule to endorse a corporate democrat running against a progressive. So Biden is not working with nor trying to appease the progressive side of the democratic party. Hugs

Thank you for the unnecessary mansplaining. I thought you were above that. What do you know about who my party happens to be? Of course I meant Taiwan re Pelosi, she has no business over there. A simple conversation from Biden could convince her. Is everybody is on the wrong path if they are not esp keen on AOC?She’s not helping women’s rights getting herself arrested. A publicity stunt is not what we need. If you want to be a socialist be a socialist, last I heard we are still free though that is slipping away fast and if you want to waste your vote on the socialist party you will contribute to the rise of the MAGA cult.

Hello House of Heart. I am not sure what your issue is, but it is not mansplaining to share information. You were incorrect in saying that Pelosi was going to China. Actually she does have a reason for going there. Taiwan happens to be a big electronic chip maker / supplier to the US and the congress in the process of passing the CHIPS for America Act. As that will affect the Taiwan economy, they might want some high level communication with our political leaders. I do not understand what you mean about “… about who my party happens to be?” I never assigned a political party to you in my reply, I simply described the current situation as I see it with the Democratic party. As for being keen on AOC notice I added the squad also with AOC as they stand as the most visible members of the progressive caucus. Was it helping civil rights back in the 1960s when people got arrested protesting for them on behalf of black people? She got arrested protesting the removal of a right for people who are pregnant. She is doing what she can as far as I can see. Promoting the right side of a cause. I do not understand why you think I am a socialist? Nothing in my reply to your comment mentioned my stance on systems of government nor controlling the means of production of goods. I would say you are just looking to attack me and I have no idea where the hostility is coming from. I hold no resentment or bad feelings toward you and don’t believe I have given you cause for offence. Best wishes. Hugs

You totally came across as mansplaining and women don’t need that. I mistakenly said China but we all know what is going on te the trip to Taiwan. I understand the importance of issues concerning China. Pelosi is not the one to be going on an official visit to Taiwan.
I think we should kiss the feet of people ( how godawful) in there 70’s and 80’s who helped kick Yrump out of the White House. Their vote is as important as yours and mine. Maybe more so. End of of conversation.

I see Biden as having a ‘gentle strength’ rather than the ‘in your face’ sort of ‘strength’ that Trump claimed. Biden tries to do the right thing, I believe, for the most people. As the old saying goes, you can’t please everyone. For the record, while I didn’t agree with his Saudi trip, I find most everything else he has done … or tried to do … on target. I was for Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan, however in light of new threats, I think it should be postponed. Our rights … well, women’s rights were taken by the Supreme Court — a court dominated by Trump-appointed justices. If LGBTQ rights fall next, it will again be through the Trump-dominated Court. Biden’s hands are tied, but Congress can act forcefully to protect women’s rights, marriage rights, and more … but Mitch McConnell has basically said he’ll be damned if the Republicans in the Senate will compromise on anything. Again, Biden does not have unlimited power, and without support from Congress, he is forced to tread water.

He needs to speak out more on these issues. The politicized Supreme Court is a real and present danger. Presently we have a Justice who should be under investigation based on his wife’s involvement in the insurrection.

I’ve subscribed to Beau of the Fifth Column’s YouTube channel after listening to that clip.
Mr Rogers was never shown on TV in this country as far as I can ascertain. Perhaps it was not geared towards an international audience? Inclusion of those who have disabilities has come a long way in the past decade, even though there is still a long way to go. Here in Aotearoa, it’s only in the last decade that public speakers have begun to be accompanied by a NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) translator.

Beau is really good at what he does! Thoughtful and intelligent. You won’t regret subscribing to his YouTube channel. Another good one who Scottie posts often is Texas Paul … though he can be a bit more rant-y and sometimes use some strong language, he does get his point across!

Democrats, especially minorities, are fleeing the Biden-Harris regime in record numbers. Not even Mr. Rogers who was a privileged old, white cis male, can stop that. Prominent influencers like Jill, Big Hugs Scottie and Heart as Big as Texas Paul cannot talk people out of the economic and social beatings they are taking every day because of Biden-Harris. At this point, harsh reality is an existential threat to the Democrat Party. Shaming an irrelevant demographic (White Baby Boomers) with tales of Mr. Rogers. will only make things worse, in my humble opinion.

Frankly, it’s a sad state of affairs that nearly all people seem to be blaming the current administration for the price-gouging by big corporations, especially the oil industry. And also a sad state of affairs that people care more about the cost of fuel than they do about the future of the planet. But alas, human nature is greedy and unable to see the larger picture.

Hello Jill. Price gouging is correct. We have all known for a long time about the price gouging for profit of the pharmaceutical companies. But today I posted about the price gouging by the oil companies. Jill their profits are up according to the second quarter posting in some cases over 1,000%. One oil company was over 2000%. The smallest jump in profits was only 170%. Combined the oil companies’ profits are … 51.8 billion. Billion! That is why fuel costs so much, why gas and diesel are so expensive. Profit / greed is killing the US. These companies need regulations and taxes to turn some of that stolen money back to working for the people. Thank you very much for the reblog, I am grateful I posted something you can use. Best wishes and lots of big Hugs.

Yep, therein lies the problem … they could have kept fuel prices at a reasonable level, but instead they actually saw the supply chain issues as an opportunity for them to exacerbate the problem, try to convince people that this was a natural outcome of the war in Ukraine, among other things, and justify their extreme price increases globally, not just in the U.S. And I’m sure they sit atop their piles of money laughing their fat rear ends off when they hear people blaming Biden and the administration for their woes! I may do a post about that in the next few days … I have done before, but it needs to be kept in people’s minds that it is the oil companies who are profiting, first from Covid, then from the war in Ukraine, and now from the extreme heat that they are in part to blame for. ‘Twas my pleasure to re-blog, Scottie … I’d love to reblog more of your work, but there is only so much time and energy! Big Hugs, dear friend!
