I originally planned to include this cartoon in my Jolly Monday post, but changed my mind for two reasons: a) it is of a socio-political nature and I try very hard to keep Jolly Monday upbeat and G-rated, and b) I didn’t want it to be just one of 20 other cartoons, but wanted people to take a closer look, to ponder it for a bit. The ‘toon needs no explanation or commentary from me, so I shall give none.
Breaking News:
Trump’s home at Mar Lago has been raided by the FBI!
Perhaps the Jan 6 committee has some teeth after all?

Hello. It is not a hard concept unless you want to make it one. Really hate must be taught. Back in the 1980s they took kids from both side of the conflict in Ireland to a camp for a summer. The kids bonded. Then when the time to leave came the kids were all crying. When interviewed why they all said the same thing, because when we go home, we have to hate our friends. The kids did not understand the hate and they did not want it. It was forced on them by adults. That is the same thing with the acceptance of LGBTQ+. The guy who wrote the “don’t say gay” bill in Florida admitted he wrote it because he couldn’t stand that kids coming out were accepted instead of being targeted for abuse. That was his reasoning for writing the bill, that he wanted kids that were different from straight kids should be targeted for abuse. This is the religious right wing republican party of the US. It terrifies me living in a red state. Hugs

You are so right, Scottie! I just said exactly that in a comment to rawgod … hatred, violence and bigotry have to be taught … and many people seem to be doing one heck of a job teaching it.
Even when we don’t consciously teach bigotry, we do so by our actions, even small gestures. Kids pick up on those and it becomes a part of the fabric of their being. It is unthinkable … atrocious … that someone would feel the way that man who wrote the “Don’t Say Gay” bill feel! To target anyone is horrible, but to target children … it is a crime against humanity, against the future of the world. It terrifies all of us, no matter where we live, but yes, I can see where it’s especially terrifying for you, given that your own elected governor, a man who is supposed to represent ALL the people in his state, is a homophobe. Sigh. Hugs

Even in cartoons, children are not afraid to say out loud what their parents are thinking. If only we kept that “straight to the truth” capability as we become “cibilized.”

Children truly are born without prejudice. As a line in the movie/song South Pacific goes, “… they have to be carefully taught.” And some in this country are doing a lot of teaching … teaching all the wrong things. Teaching hate, teaching bigotry … when you hear them put down Critical Race Theory, frankly I think we NEED to be teaching it in schools!

Another few years, and Republican states won’t have any students capable of college degrees. They won’t be able to think their way out of wet paper bags. Bad for the students, but where will Republicans get their leaders? The current crop can’t even think that far ahead.

Well, if you look at some of the Republicans in Congress (Margie Greene, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, etc) and those running for Congress and governors in November (Herschel Walker, Kari Lake, Mehmet Oz, Doug Mastriano, etc) then you might think that time is already here, and that we see where they will get their ‘leaders’ … football fields, conspiracy groups, fake doctors, bars, etc.

They put that Karen straight! Yeah, I know, shouldn’t be calling them Karen — cruel to Karens who are not bigoted, arrogant, rude, entitled, etc. Propagating a meme. Yeah, that’s me, mean meme Michael. Hugs and cheers

They did, and I loved it! No worries, Michael, for I immediately think “Karen” when I hear about such people, and in fact I blatantly called one of the subjects of this morning’s post a Karen, for she called the cops on a Black man who was standing on his own property! Sigh. Hugs and cheers to you, Michael!
