“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
“Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.”
“Repetition does not transform a lie into a truth.”
Imagine any of current slew of right-wing traitors to the USA trying to go head to head with FDR.
(Or coming into the sights of Robert Kennedy)
🍿? Jill. My treat.
Oooohhhh … popcorn!!! Thanks, Roger! FDR would mop up the floor with these current nudniks, as would Kennedy … or most any of the former politicos who were both well-educated and intelligent … and took their duty to the nation seriously.
Repetition has transformed many a Republican lie into an acceptable version of the truth for millions of MAGAts. One needs an open mind to see the differences.
It does not. And yet, humans have progressed to where people are allowed to not believe what they are spoonfed as children. And I am not talking only about religion, but patriotism and nationalism as well, among other things.
If we were truly free to be anyone we want to be, as some of us have discovered on our own, this world could be a much better place to live in. That too is s dream of mine.
That was once my dream also, rg, but … I no longer have dreams for the future. I am close to being done with my time on this planet and thankfully so. Do I rue what will become of the human species for my girls, for my friends? Yes, of course I do. I almost think a nuclear armageddon would be a kindness, a quicker, cleaner way to end human life on earth than the drawn out manner in which it is likely to end. Sigh. Forgive my bleakness … the rabbit hold is deep tonight.
Oh yes, I fully agree and I will fight until my dying breath also. The only difference is that I no longer care if my dying breath happens tonight or next week or whenever. Bring it on. I’m really tired of the human species.
Iwill miss you. We all will miss you. But if that is what you want, I hope you find your release soon. Hhhhooooowwwwwwllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!
Not gone yet … but some nights I hear the wolf pack calling! Other days, I’m ready to stay and fight some more. I guess it will be nature’s decision, eh?
Thank you so much!

Jill, in the Ken Burns’ series on The Roosevelts, a favorite quote of FDR’s was “We do well when we all do well.” Keith

I’ve heard that quote before and it is SO TRUE! What is so hard to understand about that?

It is, isn’t it? If only we all lived by that … how much better would the world be for everyone?

Some are blinding their children from birth as surely as if they poured acid into their eyes. It doesn’t bode well for the future.

I can see the same future as you, Jill, which is why I have to fight it — until my dying breath.
