I had not planned another post today … I typically like to stick to my schedule of two posts plus a music post … but then I came across this post from Brosephus and … every word struck a chord. He is 100% spot on with all he says here and I hope everyone realizes it. Many thanks, Bro!

Today starts the early voting period here in Georgia. We’ll hear the usual, “this is the most important election in our lifetime” speech over and over until November. While it gets old, this election is truly important and not just for the residents of Georgia.
Across the country, there are many candidates for office who are election deniers. The majority of GOP candidates on the ballot for November espouse the belief that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. Think of the cognitive dissonance required to believe that Trump lost on the same election where hundreds of Republicans won.
Yet, here we are in 2022 staring at the ballot and there’s a chance that many elections in 2024 will be run by people who believe that very thing. Democracy itself is officially on the ballot and maybe even on life support. Welcome to the world…

Hello. I agree with the article / post that democracy is being threatened and one of the major political parties wants a single party rule with their party as the rulers. The days of republicans even bothering to pretend to listen to the voters is long gone. They are a party that no longer values reality and lies / misinformation is everything they want to talk about. They don’t want to govern; they want to break government to show it doesn’t work. Then they want to change it to their form of fascism. As they don’t have any policies or plans for doing anything that makes life better for the people, they insist the major problems are culture wars and a need to return to the 1950s. They only want to help corporations make more profit while enriching themselves at the public expense, their plan for the public is to keep them poor and desperate to make them prime for corporations to use as low wage workers who don’t dare challenge the working conditions. I read a story today about a republican that said if the republicans take the House they will knife the Biden administration constantly. We must make sure the Democrats keep control of both the House and the Senate. Hugs

Back when the Republican Party gave their support to Trump, I thought for sure it would be the beginning of the end of the GOP, but somehow it wasn’t. Now, their dirty deeds are far beyond the pale and I get the sense that there are some who would like to split the party in two. I was chuffed to hear that in Alaska, a large number of supporters of the late Representative Don Young have crossed the aisle and actually even held a fund raiser for Sarah Palin’s opponent, Mary Peltola! The moderates in the GOP may yet make a difference, but they need a stiffer spine!
Today’s GOP is not the party it once was, and its supporters seem not to realize that they are shooting themselves in the foot with every single vote for a Republican candidate. I, too, hope that the Democrats can maintain a majority at least in the Senate, but preferably in both chambers. A lot can happen in the next three weeks, so don’t lose hope! Hugs

Both our countries have lost the plot. We need to find it really quickly or we are completely stuffed.

My weekend was alright … nothing to write home about, but quiet and peaceful. Miss Goose and I got our Covid boosters on Sunday, so we’ve been a bit tired and chilled today, but otherwise all is well! No worries, Michael … I always expect you to be just a bit late at the beginning of the week! Hope your weekend was great! We are supposed to get snow flurries tonight! xx

Thanks for the re-blog. I haven’t written much because I’m trying to not.bw such a negative writer. I just don’t see anything positive about this election of people are voting GOP.
They’ve already attacked women’s body autonomy. They’ve said they’re going to do more. They no longer want democracy. They want authoritarianism where conservative ideas are the law. This country won’t survive if the GOP wins in November.

I fully understand. I often feel that my posts are repetitious and too negative, but … I’m trying to get a critical point across, and sometimes you just have to call a spade a bloody shovel, as one of my Brit friends says!
Yes, women’s rights have been chipped away at, and I understand that next on the chopping block will likely be LGBTQ rights, then perhaps racially mixed marriages … WHERE does it end??? Are we truly heading back to The Handmaid’s Tale? No, the country will not survive intact, the democratic foundations will not survive, if we hand the Republicans both chambers of Congress next month. It is up to us. I keep hoping for some to remove their heads from the dark places they are keeping them and open their eyes.
