I don’t know of another person who is as caring and giving as our dear friend David Prosser. His posts these days are rare, but this morning he reminds us to think of people who are far less fortunate than most of us in the upcoming holiday season, and suggests some simple ways in which we might help just a little. Thank you, David, for being who you are. Cwtch

Here we go again, it seems like about a month since the last one. But the shops are full of Christmas items and people are bustling around with determination on their faces.. We all want Christmas to be special for our families and our friends. Good, that’s how it’s meant to be.
But, let’s extend the range of our friends to encompass all those currently at war, who aren’t at war against us. All those who have lost their homes and their possessions and some, almost their lives. For a moment though let’s start closer to home. Almost every Supermarket these days has a basket for donations to food banks. These are not handouts to the bone idle but possibly the only food source for the homeless or those who have no work through no fault of their own, Being homeless is not a choice most people make, especially when…

Thank you for sharing!!.. here on the path it is Christmas year around!!.. “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” (Mother Teresa).. 🙂
Until we meet again..
May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
Brightened by a song
in your heart,
And warmed by the smiles
of people you love.

I’m with you on that, my friend! I’m not a big fan of the holiday ‘Christmas’ any more, for it has become far too commercialized for me, too much about putting money into the corporate coffers and too little about the things that really matter like friends, family, and humanity. But I would love to see the same spirit in people 365 days a year, not just in December! Thanks, Dutch!

Just wondering, David, what is it you are trying to clear your conscience of? Is this existential angst? Or is there something in your past you want to confess?
I am not trying to deflect from your post, sir, but the line struck me as not being as throwaway as it might look. There is a reason you added it?

Who among us hasn’t done some things that we later came to regret, rg? David is among the kindest men I know, but he’s human just like the rest of us.

Did I say he wasn’t, Jill? He nade a comment that sounded like he might want to get something off his chest. I said I heard him, and was willing to listen if he did. That was the extent of what I said. Nothing kore.

Thank YOU, Ab!!! Yes, David’s post inspired me to donate to the local foodbank … I usually do at this time of year, but had forgotten this year, what with all the political turmoil and my own health issues. But, I’ve done that now. It’s far too little, but hopefully it makes a bit of a difference.

It is a very timely reminder, but like Carla, I just wish people would open their hearts and wallets all year ’round!

All good suggestions, but I wish people were generous and thought of others all year long.

So do I, my friend. It is heartwarming that people seem to feel more generous around the holidays and open their wallets and hearts, but imagine what a difference it would make if we all did it year-round.

All very good suggestions. Would that we all take it upon ourselves to do just one or two of them; what a difference that would make. Incidentally, after much procrastination, I finally looked up what “Cwtch” means, and I love it!

I so agree, Larry! And not just during the holidays, but all year ’round! Ahhhh … yes, I love the word … David is Welsh and taught me that word several years ago!
