Somewhere
Barbra Streisand
Someday
Somewhere
We’ll find a new way of living
We’ll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere
There’s a place for us
Somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us somewhere
There’s a time for us
Someday there’ll be a time for us
Time together with time to spare
Time to learn
Time to care
Someday
Somewhere
We’ll find a new way of living
We’ll find there’s a way of forgiving
Somewhere
Somewhere
Somewhere
There’s a place for us
A time and a place for us
Hold my hand and we’re half way there
Hold my hand and I’ll take you there
Somehow
Someday
Somewhere

Barbara Streisand is someone I also need to do a deep dive with.
I downloaded Celine Dion’s greatest hits this week. So I’ll get to Barbara one day soon!

Awesome, Ab! Enjoy Celine … I haven’t played her for a while … thanks for the suggestion! And then move on to Barbra … you won’t regret it!

Something is off here, Jill. This song is from West Side Story, and is attributed to Leonard Bernstein (music) and Stephen Sondheim (lyrice). Who is Richard Mullins?.
I distinctly remember this song being done by a male baritone in the 60s, but a half-hour dive into YouTube was unproductive. Does anyone else remember such a ecording?
Streisand has a powerful voice, and sings this well, but it does not satisfy my memory. I thought it might be PJ Proby, but all I could find were live performances, and they sucked.
Still, a good choice. Thank you.

You’re right. From West Side Story, written by Bernstein and Sondheim. P J Proby had a #6 hit with it in the UK in 1964, also got to #17 in Canada.

Thanks for affirming my mrmory. But I cannot find a studio version. Makes me wonder…

Do either of these work for you?

First one not available in Canada. Second one is kinda what I remember, but I guess time improved it in my mind… The terror of getting old. 🙃
Thanks, Clive.

I’m glad you could hear at least one of them to confirm your memory! You’re welcome 😊

Sorry you guys didn’t like Barbra’s version … next time I’ll add P.J. Proby’s to the mix, but last night I was simply too tired.

No worries. From my perspective you could leave both of them out 🤣

Yes, it is from West Side Story and is a beautiful song, both in the movie and when sung by Streisand. I think it was David who mentioned the PJ Proby version last time I played this, but last night I was simply too exhausted to go in search of. Perhaps next time.

Her voice will always be one of the greatest. I remember when I saw her playing in Yentl and singing “Papa can you hear me”. A few years later, I sang it too, and Memories… She has been one of my biggest inspirations.

Few have ever matched her voice, in my opinion. Awesome that you are so inspired by her!

Ah yes, I have two returns left that I must finish today, or it’ll be “Off With Her Head!”, so I can relate!

This must come to an end dear friend as I’m abusing it to not do what I must do. “It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”

The real question is … why did we wait ’til the last minute??? Sigh.
