Jaw-Dropping News

At exactly 11:39 EDT this morning came the breaking news that caused my jaw to drop:

Tucker Carlson Leaves Fox News

The company gave no reason, only this brief statement:

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

I expected some heads to roll in the wake of the $787.5 million settlement agreed on between Fox and Dominion Voting Systems last week, but last I heard it would likely be Jeanine Pirro and Maria Bartiromo, not their top draw.  Thus far there is no word whether he was terminated or left of his own volition, but I suspect the former, for as journalist Brian Stelter noted …

“The biggest ‘tell’ in Fox’s press release about Tucker Carlson’s exit is that he is not getting a final show. No chance to say goodbye on his own terms or point people to his next home. Fox says ‘Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st.’”

I wonder if this is just the first head to roll at Fox?  Oh, it seems not, since Justin Wells, the senior executive producer of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” has also been fired.  I wonder who will be left on Fox at the end of this week?

Interestingly, at 12:19 p.m., just 40 minutes after the news broke that Carlson and Fox have parted ways, came the news that in those 40 minutes, “Fox Corporation – the parent company of Fox News – has seen its share value drop by about 4%.”

So … where will ol’ Tuck go next?  Well, already this afternoon it is reported that RT, the Russian state-controlled television network, has put out the welcome mat for Tucker … ‘twould be an appropriate home for him, I suppose.  While I’m not in the habit of laughing at other people’s misfortunes, I must admit some feeling of “you got what you deserved” this time.  Of course others on Fox are equally toxic, but their turn may be coming soon.

And just a little bit ago (2:03 p.m. EDT), it was reported by the Los Angeles Times that Carlson was fired over the discrimination lawsuit filed by a former producer on his show, Abby Grossberg.  Grossberg’s suit claims that lawyers for the network “coached” and “intimidated” her into giving misleading testimony in the lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems. She also alleged a culture of sexism and misogyny at the network, and that executives tried to blame her and host Maria Bartiromo for the airing of 2020 election conspiracy theories.  What a surprise … not.

Well, folks, that’s where it all stands as of now … could be an interesting week for ol’ Fox “News” and their crew of natural-born liars.  Oh, and don’t feel too badly for ol’ Tucker, for he has a net worth of approximately $30 million, so I don’t think he’ll need to apply for food stamps any time soon.

  1. being angry at the firing of one media personality while celebrating the removal of another simply demonstrates that every single one of you who hold these views are hypocrits. how you people cannot or, more accurately, will not see your own contemptable hipocrisy is something that I wil never understand but you guys enjoy your double standards, irrational positions, fake outrage and bloated absurd posturing

    • Comparing Don Lemon to Tucker Carlson is a false equivalence. First, Don Lemon is a journalist and Tucker Carlson is a propagandist. Lemon has never knowingly told lies on the air. Tucker has. While Lemon has engaged in some sexism and ageism, Tucker has too along with racism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, etc, etc. The only thing comparable is that two of the biggest stars for each network were fired on the same day.

  2. RT is no safe home for Tuck, as they are redacted and cancelled in most Western countries. We lose our freedom slowly, piece by piece as the West tumbles towards fascism. :/ If I was him I’d start my own YT channel … or better still on https://odysee.com/. His name is huge enough to give him ten thousands of subscribers right away.

      • What makes you think they be ignorant? Tuck is an accomplished taste, considering his background even suspicious. Still most of the world that can’t see him on TV, tunes in to his show on YT, so we’re not so ignorant. Ignorant of all the other Fox aholes, yes, okay.

        • Ah Confucius. English has far to many words for anyone to find the one that will rectify the situation exactly. He is far from ignorant. He is well educated from a life without angst. His perfidy is willful and without remorse for any harm it might cause. Attributing ignorance for his behavior is a kindness that he would exploit against Ms. Jill given any opportunity.

        • When a person believes something, but that belief is disproven by hard, indisputable facts, and the person still continues to believe it, then I can only assume that person is ignorant. Even Tucker Carlson said he was lying, he KNEW the truth and said so … on tape and in emails, all out there for the world to see. And still, people believe the lies … how can I not call them ignorant?

          • I didn’t and still don’t watch many of Tucker’s videos. Only caring about his geopolitical commentary. In which he’s mostly right and in sharp contrast to Fox News. I have no idea about what affair you’re talking, but you’re most probably right about that. It’s probably outta my range of care and expertise.
Well, in the end he was just another voice in the most disharmonic choir.
And we know he wasnt’ fired for his views about the Ukraine crisis but for dissing Phizer and other big pharma corporations paying Fox’s bills.
That send Murdoch into a hissyfit that resulted in Tuck’s termination. Simples.

            • Mostly right? Tucker Carlson? He even admits to his own lies. He is a racist, a conspiracy theorist, and an accomplished liar. I have no idea why he was fired, but best guess is a combination of reasons, starting with the Dominion lawsuit.

                • Just one example: He lied by saying that Dominion Voting Systems had rigged their machines to change votes from Trump to Biden. They did not. There are hundreds more examples, but I am not going to write a 100,000-word book here!

We all know the facts as we can watch the maps of the frontline. I said I’m not interested in local American affairs, as your country is old enough to del with its shit by itself. More interested in global affairs, so what do you have against Tucker’s opinions and expertise in that field?

Is he so wrong in calling out the warmongering idiots around Biden, Nuland, Kagan, Blinken et al.?
We all could be so much better off if America hadn’t started the hissy fit proxy war against Russia.
                    This is my opinion.
This is the opinion of many experts, economical and military.
                    This is based on facts.

Besides he is just a tool wielded by an unknown. The dark is not scary it is what it hides that we are afraid of. I like the deep deep dark, it allows me to be brave.

            • True, but I didn’t say Tucker was ignorant … I said his viewers are. There is a big difference. Tucker is intelligent, but greedy and cruel. His viewers are ignorant and don’t recognize truth if it slaps them in the face.

Still wanna know where and about what Tucker lied and where you sense and cruelty or greediness in him. I mean, he’s ex-Fox, and prolly all that but where does he show it in his programme?

Know why? Coz he don’t need one. At least in his criticism of the WH and his stance on the Ukraine war he’s spot on.

“Besides he is just a tool wielded by an unknown.”
If you’re too poorly prepared to come up with a name, an organisation or agency, why are you even shouting out such unbelievable bullsheet? In case you haven’t noticed yet – here are adults busy discussing adult affairs.

  3. I’ve read that this was on Rupert Murdoch’s direct orders. Plenty more trash still to be taken out, though. But for now let’s all enjoy the Tuck Off Carlson moment 😊

    • I’m sure it was … nothing can happen at Fox without Murdoch’s blessing. But yes, there is plenty more trash to take out … in fact, there is no longer anyone I would opt to keep! They used to have a couple of actual newspeople, but they got rid of them over the past 2-4 years, and now what is left are propagandists. Yep, I’m enjoying the Tuck Off!!!

    • No, Fox cannot afford to change its ways … just look what happened in the aftermath of the 2020 election … viewers were disgusted because Fox was calling it like they saw it, so the viewers packed up and headed over to NewsMax. So, the Big Lie was given a megaphone and the viewers came hopping back to Fox, like rabbits to the … fox. Sigh. But, I do think a few more heads may roll in the coming days/weeks. We shall see.

  4. Jill, of course, the viewers erupted more over this news than news the network was gaslighting its audience. I read it was due to discrimination lawsuit that includes Carlson’s producers bullying a female employee to change testimony to the court on the Dominion defamation lawsuit. But, we will have to wait until more of the story comes out. Keith

    • I saw that! I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but … I was. I suspect it was due to a number of things, some of which we may never know, but no doubt the lawsuit by Ms. Grossberg is a large part of the reason. Yes, no doubt we will learn more in the coming days/weeks, and more heads may yet roll, as well.

      • “the lawsuit by Ms. Grossberg is”
… barking at the wrong tree. Talking about gaslighting the audience, eh? The real reason is that a capitalist pig Murdoch can’t tolerate an eye-opener such as Carlson on his payroll.
Yes, I believe he was a radical … in American circumstances – but still a rightwing American and Fox moderator (highly suspect) in the eyes of the world. And just when he was about to redeem himself he was cut out of the picture. 😐

          • Simples! By sloowly, vewwy vewwy slooowly gaining some trust points from intl audiences. Of course most of us are still wary towards him, he being American and Fox show host n all. But lately he seemed to give less fux about that and was more about truth and about all the American wrongness. A kinda unexpected … ally? Of course he’s still suspicious but was on the right path.

And, sorry, I doubt you did careful research, maybe scratched a bit around in your specific echo chamber but didn’t go into depths. Had you read up on Nuland, the Kagan clan, both Bidens, Blinken, Pelosi, you just couldn’t insist on your opinion.
And had you studied history, particularly American history of the 20th century, we wouodn’t have this discussion in the first place.

    • Yes, and that one angered me. I unsubscribed to the 3-4 CNN newsletters I was subscribed to and let them know exactly why. Ever since Chris Licht took over last year, he’s been pushing the network a bit further to the right. Granted, Lemon made a big faux pas last year in his comment about Nikki Haley, but that was months ago, he apologized, and that was that. I don’t think that’s why he was terminated today.

    • Hard to say what will happen over the next days/weeks! I was pleased to see Carlson ousted, for he, more than any other single Fox host, has promoted the racial divisions in this country and egged on the white supremacists and conspiracy theorists. But, he’ll turn up elsewhere, no doubt. Fox is not suddenly going to become a legitimate source of news. Sigh. ❤

      • You are right on both counts. Sadly, he will turn up somewhere. No Faux will not be legit, but hopefully implode, and after so many mega lawsuits coming their way, perhaps they’ll go bust. 🙂 xx

        • It will definitely be interesting to see how the other lawsuits pan out. The one by Smartmatic is for something like $2.7 billion and their lawyer said they will not settle, but fully intend to take it to trial. Sadly, even if they do go under, there will always be another just like them to take their place. Sigh. xx

I always thought it would be cool to live in some of the worlds I’ve read about. I had thought that 1984 would be an easy dodge.

Interestingly, around the time Donald Trump took office, I started seeing those books on display at Barnes & Noble, and read that there was a sudden surge in demand for them. Makes sense now, doesn’t it? Just like “The Handmaid’s Tale” has seen a surge in sales since the Dobbs decision.
