Jolly ‘N Joyful Monday Returns!!!

Good Monday morn, dear friends!  We’re baaaaaaccckkkk!  We took a hiatus from Jolly Monday last week in order to properly honour Juneteenth, but now we’re back with more fun ‘n stuff!  We hope your weekend was nice and relaxing and that now you’re ready to hop back into the fray of a new week!  Let’s go see what Joyful has cooked up for us today and then find something to help us start this week out with some smiles and chuckles!

And since this is the last Monday in Pride Month … a few treats!

Where to start, where to start???  How ’bout some funny/interesting signs?

You’ve gotta wonder what the backstory that led to this one was!!!

Anybody in the mood for just a few music puns?

And now, the highlight of Jolly Monday … da ‘toons!!!

And let’s top it all off with an animal video about some not-so-well-known critters …

Well, folks, much as we’ve enjoyed our time together, we know you all have places to go, things to do, people to see.  We hope you’ve found something here to kick the week off with a smile, a chuckle, or perhaps even a laugh, and that you’ll share those smiles with others you meet this week who might not have a smile of their own.  Keep safe and try to have a wonderful week ahead!  Love ‘n hugs from Filosofa, Jolly ‘n Joyful!!!

  1. I have no idea who the dude in the “diddy” pictures is, but as a Canadian I have to protest the use of the pucture of Justin Ttudeau to represent the “dum” beat. i am not a fan of his, but he is not in the same class as the idjit Donsld Trumpelstiltdkin!
As for the video, the announcer needs a lesson in good pronunciation. Cockapoo indeed!

  2. I’m late, after a reasonably busy day. I enjoyed the cartoons, but I thought the video was harsh on Pangolins and Tapirs. They are two of my favourite animals, and I think they are cute! 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • Remember there’s a 5 hour time difference, so your comment posted before noon, so technically it was morning here! I agree with you about the Pangolins and Tapirs … they ARE cute … but then, I think most all animals are cute … I have a soft spot when it comes to critters!

  4. “Keep left unless overtaking” signs are dime a dozen here and most people drive past without noticing they exist. Now, if someone changed one to “Keep right”, then that’s sure to noticed immediately, especially of someone obeyed the sign!

The lyrics to 2525 popped into my head the moment I saw the $25.25 – before I had a chance to read the rest of the meme. I guess it shows my age 🙂

The pronunciation of “kakapo” in the video clip was atrocious to the Kiwi ear, but I’ll let that slide (this time). Benedict Cumberbatch’s pronunciation is a little better, but still no better than his pronunciation of “penguin” (look it up on YouTube if you’re not familiar). Kakapo are the world’s largest parrot, weighing up to 4 Kg (9 lb), nocturnal and flightless.

    • I would not like to try to drive in your country or in the UK, for I’d never get used to it and would always think I was on the wrong side of the road all the time! Here, the sign would read “Keep right unless overtaking”!

If it shows your age, then it shows mine too, for it popped into my head immediately too!

I did Google Cumberbatch’s faux pax on ‘penguin’ and it was the first good laugh I’ve had all evening, so thank you!!! It’s hard to imagine a parrot weighing in at 9 pounds!!! I would love to see one in person. Thank you for the link to that video … hard to believe they’re too heavy to fly, so they climb trees, and that they sometimes live more than 100 years!!! I wonder if that’s a record for a bird?

      • A lot of tourists for countries that drive on the right continue to think that way when visiting Aotearoa. It’s such a big problem that there are arrows painted on the road near every rest area to inform wayward tourists which side of the road they should drive on. In tourist areas, they are painted on the road anywhere a tourist might leave the roadway or park at the side of the road.

I’m pleased that the Cumberbatch faux pax brightened up your day.

NZ has many unique and unusual birds, which really isn’t surprising. Before the arrival of humans in the 13th or 14th century there were no land mammals here. Every ecological niche that was occupied elsewhere by mammals was occupied by birds.

        • I can’t help thinking of the ambassador’s wife who killed young Harry Dunn in the UK because she was driving down the wrong side of the roadway … not a chance I’d be willing to take!

I knew NZ had many different varieties of birds, but didn’t realize quite how many! If I had a ‘bucket list’, a visit to your country would be near or right at the top of it!
