Where’s Kamala? Reblog from Annie Asks You

If the Democratic Party plans to win the White House again in 2024, they’re going to have to show some genuine enthusiasm for the Biden/Harris team!  I’m tired of hearing about President Biden’s age, but of equal concern are those who diss Vice President Kamala Harris just because they aren’t seeing her on the front pages every day.  Some have even compared VP Harris to Waldo of the game “Where’s Waldo?”  Fear not, my friends, Joe Biden is as sharp as a tack despite his age, and Kamala Harris is, like Joe, working quietly behind the scenes, doing her job.  And believe me, she is more than qualified for the position she’s in!  Our friend Annie over at Annie Asks You tells us a bit more about Kamala Harris, her background, and her qualifications and I think you will feel a renewed sense of trust and respect once you finish reading Annie’s post!  Thank you, Annie!!!

  1. There is a spotlight hog out there. IMO it’s best the Joe takes the pig’s rage while taking it. Kamala will be getting plenty and Joe will gladly share it. For now he is a shield not a wall. We will learn one day that like dogs we do not deserve Joe Biden.

    • Yes history will show just what a good president he was against all odds of the right wing nut jobs. They’ll ponder down the line of history how trump was ever elected and what the hell was wrong with people who supported him. I suspect it will be a study in psychology for years in the future. Hope we have improved by then in critical thinking skills and inclusion of others and the danger of religious fanaticism.

  2. Jill, Annie, like Biden, Republicans are told not to like them even when they do things that actually benefit their constituents back home. These folks campaign off the progress, but voted against it because it was pushed by a Democrat White House. The progressive Democrats don’t like Biden/ Harris because they are not progressive enough. Yet, very progressive ideas have a hard time getting approved on more than a few occasion. To govern, ideas have to get passed. Otherwise it is yelling into the wind.

So, Harris and Biden, although far from perfect have done a pretty good job. Even Obama had a hard time selling his success, because it was not played up at all on the right. Like Biden and Harris, Obama is a moderate Democrat. But, Obama had his successor a pretty good economy in its 91st consecutive month of economic growth, a message that said successor ignored and said he accomplished it when it continued.

I do like that Harris called the Florida governor on the carpet for his white washing slavery among other things. Keith

    • You’re so right on all counts, Keith. I think Biden knows just how to play his cards, for I am amazed by some of the things he’s managed to do, despite a contrary Congress … he even managed to get a small gun bill passed! It was too little, too late, but when you hear Republicans screeching that there should be NO gun laws, you realize that even the smallest steps are miraculous. And yes, I loved the fire in Kamala Harris when she called out DeSantis! I hope more will follow in her path!

  3. This is excellent Jill and it has changed my mind, but the thing is…the media. They are consumed with the travails of trump and his insanity and the age of Biden. This leaves no room for any reporting about how smart a woman Harris is. I blame the media, even the left leaning ones.

But the Democratic Party has some blame to share as well. They have such difficulty promoting their own President and what he has accomplished, much less what his Vice President is capable of. That is the real shame and will cost them dearly come 2024.

    • I knew you would appreciate it! I didn’t necessarily think it would change your mind, but offer some reasons to be less down on Kamala. Yes, the media has far too large a role in driving public opinion!!!

Yes, the Democratic Party bears much of the blame, in my book. They have not been nearly as supportive of Biden & Harris as they should be, have been lax in pointing to the many accomplishments they have had, and especially against the odds, against the blockade thrown up consistently by the Republicans. I keep hoping to see that change … fingers crossed!

  4. A very interesting and insightful article by Annie. Thanks for sharing.
I do believe that KH should be SEEN more. As an absolute nobody from abroad, I’m not following your politics too closely, and I would never think that my views and opinions count for anything in yr country. But it is true: we hardly ever hear about her. She should be more visible. From earlier times I perceived her as a very capable and intelligent woman, maybe with a certain lack of compromise? Annie’s post was very illuminating and should be widely spread. I feel much more readers should be made aware of her many strengths and convictions. Or is she perceived as the ‘real’ VP in the US?

    • Sometimes the real work, the important work, is done behind the scenes, my friend. It is going to become essential that she be more of a public persona, and Joe too, and the Democratic Party needs to stop casting doubt and remind the public of the GOOD things they’ve done … and there have been many. Yes, I felt that Annie covered it well, which is why I wanted to share her post … I learned some new things about Kamala Harris, too! Your last question is a good one … and I think the answer, unfortunately, lies in her gender. This nation … both men and women … is still largely misogynistic and too many people think a woman isn’t qualified for the highest, or even second highest office in the nation. That is the main reason, despite all else, that Hillary Clinton lost in 2016, and also the primary reason that Kamala Harris isn’t taken as seriously as she should be.

  5. Great to read so much more background in the linked article. Perhaps the Democrats should publicise what the VP does more widely, so her record can be seen by other countries.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    • And in how far is Harris’ schedule of interest for other countries, please? And what other countries: Litspickles in the Western bubble or ficticious enemies in the 85% of the rest of the world?

      • Let me ask you a question in return, Orca … Why do you feel the need to be rude to me? If my posts are so offensive to you, then just don’t read them. I try to welcome genuine discourse, differences of opinion, but I see no need to be rude toward me or anyone else. The world’s problems will never be solved in this manner.

        • I see no need to regard my question as rude. It was not meant to be rude. The world’s problems will never be solved in any of our bloggos. And deffo not by Kamala Harris, nor by Joe Biden. He has that fatal tendency to make everything worse.

        • Rude to you! How about everyone. Must be some deep seated desire to just be hateful and contrary just for the sake of arrogance. And very little makes any sense anyway. You can’t fix…….

          • Agreed … rude to everyone. No, I don’t think she has a desire to be hateful, but I think she enjoys poking the dog, so to speak, enjoys throwing something out there that she knows will rile us. Sometimes it doesn’t much bother me, but sometimes it really does.

                • Why would you have taken any of those actions but for the stone in your shoe?
I also don’t understand your argument that the grass should be nonchalant because it is small. When Reagan needed a distraction from the darkest day for armed American personal since Tet due to gross negligence he chose to step on Grenada a true giant among the international players union.

That made about 0.00% sense. I’d taken those action BECOZ of stone in my shoe!

                    “the grass should be nonchalant”
Grass should be grass, nothing else. Discussion over!

Reagan was a fascist. He was the reason for why nobody likes USA anymore. It all started with him. Every word about his time in the white house is a waste of time.

I dunno if it takes courage but it’s a wise strategy the Russians use to their advantage since medieval times and have perfected to a T by now: Let the invaders come – retreat – lure them in – be soft and retreat – tease them so they come after your weak defenses – let them wear themselves thin during summer – overstretch their supply lines – and get stuck somewhere in the Russian taiga during the rainy/muddy autumn – watch their logistics network collapse – then deal them the death blow in winter! Worked against the Germans countless times in the past 800 years or so. This is the fabled War of Attrition!

And right now it works in Ukraine. I.e. Bakhmut: Invite the Ukros to attack, let them enter the shooting range/theater of death, close the escape hatch, start the meatgrinder. 😮 Ukros don’t stand a chance coz they’re following NATO procedure. Stupidstupidstupid …

I was really curious to see the video, but it won’t play … it didn’t say it was not available in my country, just said “Video Unavailable”.

History? Very recent history, hun. We’re both old enough to clearly remember those days. And it’s not my sense, it’s a completely different experience, growing up in Germany than in the States. The early 80s were fukn terrible! First wave of growing right wing Americanism and trans-Atlanticism, dwindling solidarity, colder social climate, mass layoffs, growing tensions between USA/USSR, removal of Communist party members from public posts ( I remember 2 of my teachers were removed from state-service) , emerging neo-nazism … all the things Germany was rid off got reintroduced. UK had the witch Thatcher, Germany had idiot Kohl, two very assholey conservatives and anti-humanists. 😦 It was a very uncomfy time to live in Europe … and it went straight downhill ever since.
No idea how you perceived Reagan in the US, probably totally different from the mostly Socialist, or at least Social-Democratic European youths and young adults.

“I was really curious to see the video, but it won’t play … it didn’t say it was not available in my country, just said “Video Unavailable”.”
Nothing special. Probably censored in the land of the free.
Typical British 80s club sound. It was the first hit by Heaven 17, which were the remaining musicians and brains of Human League, after the singer Philip Oakey left the band and took the name Human League with him. He gained reasonable access with harmless dance tunes, H17 was kinda dead after 2 albums. Afaik are all members still gigging in small venues around the UK.

                  • My God child! I am well practiced and experienced but when it is this easy I get worried. I mean really are you so totally lacking in self-awareness that you forgot the origins of this thread? ” I perceive you as an unwelcome troll, as a riddle I don’t wanna solve, an enigma that bores me.” Where would you like to meet so that I can take ownership of my slave?
That was a good strategy and tactical advantage 800 years ago, 200 years ago heck even 60 years ago. Unfortunatly for the Russian, indeed any land based strategy two boys from my hometown learned how to throw themselves at the ground and miss. We don’t even get the bottoms of our shoes muddy.

    • The Democrats need to become more vocal in support of both Biden and Harris! Shine a spotlight on their accomplishments, which are many, and stop worrying about his age and her lack of public persona! Otherwise, we might lose them and be plunged into a nightmare of our own making.
